    Indeed. The JLT much preferred by me for DDS. I meant he’d be my nap wherever he runs.

    * Articulum
    * Clondaw Castle
    * Duc Des Genievres
    * Glen Forsa
    * Hardline
    * Kalashnikov
    * Knocknanuss
    * Lalor
    * Ornua
    * Paloma Blue
    * Slate House
    * Us And Them

    These are declared. I’ve backed Hardline at 8/1 and Voix de Reve. Maybe gonna go with Kalashnikov as well, he seems to get his ground and back lefthanded.

    Ruby has never ridden DDG, ham. Townend been on 5 of his last 6 races. Suspect that’s the reason. However, the masive improvement last time came with a change to front-running tactics. In Tuesday’s race the vast majority are front/prominent runners and added to that quite a number seemingly need to lead in order to produce their best. Could be a race they’ll go too fast and set it up for a closer.

    He had never been on footpad over a fence until the arkle…
    If ruby thought he could win ruby would be on him, this is cheltenham, not naas on a sunday
    No better front running rider than ruby walsh either to set the fractions

    Yeah a closer for sure, will be a pace like last years arkle, hardline or lalor (hopefully hardline)

    DDG should be a much higher price for me

    Not sure how he is such a similar price to hardline

    The potential soft ground and strong pace up front will set this up for something like hardline or lalor (if lalor copes with the ground)

    Agreed, ham. Never fancied DDG. If Cilaos Emery was here Ruby would be on him for sure. What did you make of Chacun Por Soi today at Naas. That was some run; although he beat nothing he was very impressive. Pity they didn’t have him out earlier

    Going to side with an unoriginal Glen Forsa in a really weak race. It’s such a glaringly bad renewal when you look at the other novice chases during the week which have such an exciting amount of depth and potential. Altior fans should be sleeping easy for at least the next 12 months if this is his next batch of opposition.

    Vautour, ive been waiting a long time for CPS to come out and it was worth the wait, he looks like he could be special, townend knew he was on a rocket as he just sent him off from the start and never slowed down, jumped very well from such a long layoff

    Will be a big player in punchestown if he stays in one piece, like so many of these top class mullins horses that isnt easy to do

    Its a real shame he couldnt have made it here, he certainly looks good enough IMO

    Away from CPS

    Hardline will win this. Too many front runners for glen forsas mind not to be blown and lalor as much as i think he will be better than he was LTO, hardline should be plodding up that hill as stron as any of these off a hot pace..

    Got the best in the business riding him too ham

    Nobody better than Davy Russell riding a horse patiently off a strong gallop around cheltenham

    Hardline for me. As already pointed out loads of pace on and can see that putting pressure on the jumping on a few. Glen Forsa looks great but can just see ornua and knocknanus going wild up front and setting it up for a late closer.

    May have a small play on Kalashnikov if it gets any bigger as record left handed is impressive.

    Good luck folks :good:

    I think you are all missing the obvious here!! PALOMA BLUE at 10/1 and 11/1.

    Fourth in the Supreme here last year and ran well enough first time out of fences and in a pretty good race actually with Duca De Thaix and Roaring Bull in the race and also ran like he needed it . Than won easy enough at Leopardstown at Christmas and will have been set up for this. Will love the ground and provided he jumps well enough will beat these IMO !!

    Not a vintage Arkle but hey ho if you back the winner :good: :good:

    In what seems on paper to be the most open Arkle in years I have finally plumped for Hardline 11/2 Kalashnikov 10/1

    Already got 10/1 Lalor.
    Duc Des Genievres may not get the run of the race, but then again had the pace looked as though it would suit he’d be my joint favourite. Therefore, sometimes a price is too good to ignore… On the other hand, although pace may well suit Hardline, his form and jumping last time mean imo he’s barely value.
    So I’ve had a second main bet on Duc @ 7/1 with just a saver on Hardline @ 6/1.

    My 100% book for soft going:
    Lalor 9/2, Glen Forsa 9/2, Duc De Genievres 11/2, Hardline 11/2, Kalashnikov 11/1, Ornua 16/1, Knocknanuss 20/1, Paloma Blue 20/1, Clondaw Castle 22/1, Us And Them 33/1, Articulum 33/1, Slate House 132/1.

    If good-soft ground Lalor would be my clear favourite.

    The best form of any horses in this race are Ornua and Us and Them

    Us and them got beat 10 lengths by hardline, so don’t think us and them has the strongest form on offer

    I’d have thought lalors demolition of dynamite dollars around cheltenham is the best piece of form in the race

    But obviously that was on good ground and if the deluge does come tomorrow it could be very soft ground

    Lalor is an odd one as he has won on heavy ground in the past so was a surprise they used the ground as an excuse last time, he is finally nearing the price he should be, 3/1 since le richebourg and cilaos Emery were pulled out offered zero value at all

    A poor renewal but a much better betting heat because of that

    Hopefully Davy Russell can work his magic on hardline

    Good luck all
