    What a week..

Who gives a toss about New Approach not running today…. we’ve had Dennis Spitgate [loved it], Nadal at Wimbledon – please let it be his year… and last night’s Amy Winehouse to give those of us of a nervous disposition, a nightmare of monumental proportions…

Thank goodness we have the delightful Kathreya to rise above it all. I love her to bits.

    Nathan,

 I have been saying Lisa is a man since the program started! She has the balls in the house and I for one would not like to upset her. Wait till you see her/him loosing it.

It is getting interesting now especially as they all get interviewed by BB on their parts in the fight. Amazing the double standards Jen, Dale & Rebecca have against Mohammed & Rex. You could almost see the penny dropping as they realised that the public watching might not perceive them as they thought and they might have been wrong.

    :P

    last night’s Amy Winehouse

Proof enough that Michael Eavis and The Plot have well and truly lost phone numbers came with his insistence that Winehouse put in a scintillating performance over the weekend.

There were flashes of what she is capable of at best, but she seemed a little worse for wear at the start of the set, and was very much the worse for it by the end, not helped, I’d proffer, by copious imbibing of what looked like lager and black all the way through.

A lot of the bumbling and mumbling of lyrics I’d put down to some attempt at jazz improv frippery for the first couple of songs, but after that it reeked more of inebrity than invention, a view confirmed by her increasingly forlorn attempts to try – and fail – to remember her guitar parts on several songs.

A fair bit was made on some music fora of her return to the guitar – fairly heavily present during the touring of the Frank album, but rather less so Back to Black– a few months ago, but to my mind she seems to be using it as something to cling on to like a kid’s safety blanket in her ever more vulnerable condition, rather than for its intended purpose. Fender, who endorse her financially to some tune, must be utterly thrilled.

The nadir came with her mauling of Sam Cooke’s 1961 hit Cupid. It is not as if she is unfamiliar with the track, having bundled it onto the deluxe version of the current album a while back, but my God you would have been forgiven for thinking otherwise judged on the slurring, inept mess to which she reduced it.

Patience must be wearing thin from all sides with her now, multi-platinum sales and sizeable fanbase notwithstanding, and you wonder at this stage how many more such performances she’ll be able to get away with.

At a Glastonbury where Jay-Z showed himself to be far smarter than the Mancunian Neanderthals who tried to scare him away from their Festival (coming on to a sampling of Noel Gallagher’s rant to Colin Patterson on Five Live, and then running through an entirely serviceable and slightly cheeky Wonderwall, delivered a bigger F*** You than any public war of words ever could), and Manu Chao delivered another killer set to remind us why he remains the hottest world music crossover act on the planet, the latest chapter of Winehouse’s steady, and seemingly inexorable, deterioriation was as incongruous as it was pitiful to observe.

Question is what will happen first

Will Amy die before BB9 gets the plug pulled as it is on a life support at the moment.

Looking at Glastonbury their were only about 3 acts i would have wanted to see and to pay about £200 to sleep in a field, listen to bilge and share toilets with everyone else is not my idea of fun.

Im not really an Amy fan but she does appear to be on a self destruct mission a bit like a new version of Kurt Cobain.

And regarding Jay Z, Why did Michael Eavis think that having a hip hop act would be good, I thought he was awful and so far up his own backside i bet the cows in the field were wondering wheir the new smell of bulls%&t was coming from.

Rap is just talking a bit fast to a drum beat and talking about Hoes,Bitches and The Hood, USE ENGLISH PLEASE.

Finally i am just glad that this event is not run by a corporate company otherwise they would dumb it down and get acts like Westlife,McFly and all that other rubbish on.

    One more thing.

Their is only one festival which has true quality, emotion, love, heartache, joys, tears, happiness, sadness, thrills, spills and people of proper quality, It is of course…………………………………………………………………………………………………CHELTENHAM,CHELTENHAM,CHELTENHAM.

I have struggled to get my head around this "hip hop" at Glasto debate. The Prodigy headlined the first night in 1997. Now as far as I am aware Liam Howlett is massively influenced by the great dance and hip-hop acts down the years, and a lot of the Prodigy’s work would not be out of place on a Jay-Z record and vice versa – Howlett could easily have written "99 Problems" and invited someone like Kool Keith to guest vocal. I could easily imagine Jay-Z writing Everybody in the Place.

    Very well said, Firefox.

Gallagher maintained in that original soundbite that Glastonbury is the preserve of guitar bands.

From memory, Oasis’s first Glastonbury was in 1994…

…the most enduring and acclaimed performance from which year was that of Orbital…

…who are as far removed from a guitar band as you’ll see.

Lisa on Mario’s exit from the house last friday went something like this – there’s a reason why Mario is leaving, he’s being called to leave because he’s needed on the outside, somekind of act of god………… Well sorry to disappoint you Lisa but he got the most votes thats why he got booted out, no other reason.

Then this morning i hear her going on about aliens, how she was running away from them. :?

lol…Lisa is quite mad, but I rather like her.

Despite backing Rex initially, I’ve had enough of him… pompous git! and would be happy to see him despatched this week.

Dale or Kathreya to win… Dale is delish..apparently.

What even more than Rebecca, she is an annoying in-bred idiot and is far too loud for my liking. Rebecca is just a cringeworthy jade goodie wannabe (with admittedly less vocal racism).

Still dont mind rex, Ive always found when you meet new people, most will talk about what they know and where they are from. It just so happens that where rex comes from comes across as bragging. Nevertheless, he seems intelligent enough to realise that such talk will not win him the show, and lets face it he wont win, but he has his entertaining moments too.

Rebecca reminds me of my young neighbour :x :x … please feel sorry for me

I think Rex winds them up a bit really, with his bragging… but he does go on about it and if true, it’s so wasteful, like going through 6 mobile phones a month!… I can’t believe this.

Not sure what they’re doing with this French task but they look quite fetching… Darnell as a Gendarme…hmmm… makes him look quite distinguished, which would be difficult for Darnell I think, normally.

Isn’t blind Mikey awful… turned out a bit of a horror!

Dont really like Mikey, once you get past the fact that hes blind hes a right moany so and so.

    Belinda gives me the creeps.

Luke reminds me in almost every way possible of a bloke I used to have to share a house with, who was the most anooying bloke on the planet. Only difference is, luke is also a devious little repressed homosexual.

Rachel, and Katraya are non entities, they have nothing positive or negative about them and I can see them making the final.

Stuart and dale (other than the spitting incident) have always been quite boring too, but have the potential to be entertaining.

Sarah is far too OTT and shes a goth, have met two girls like that in the past and both irritated the **** out of me.

Maysoon hasnt really contributed a great deal yet but seems likable enough.

Darnell tells it like he sees it, hes provided so much entertainment so far in the show, and although he may be too much of a character to make it through all of the evictions I’d like to see him win.

lol.. I see Mohammed has slipped under your radar too!… hardly surprising, he rarely figures.

I love Kathreya and I don’t agree with you here, as I think she’s a very positive person in the house, and for me, is the nicest BB contestant there’s ever been…
she epitomises that Thai friendliness we tend to imagine they possess, whether contrived or not, and I like her accent too…lol.. she can put it on as much as she likes far as I’m concerned.

I backed her at 8’s or something, but she still has a lot more to do in order to win I think, and when they thin out a bit, just hoping she’ll up her game in response. I think she has to do so.

Darnell appeals more to certain types of men I would guess, rather than the girls and women who tend to do most of the voting. Also by speaking his mind will get him as many antagonists as supporters, even so I can see him there till the end, but he’s not my cup of tea.
Perhaps it’s his background that we have heard about puts some of us right off, so I would like to think he’s becoming a reformed character, if that’s possible, but he’s not exactly easy on the eye now, is he?..

I see Dale and Stuart as dangers, simply because of their sex appeal, which is shallow, but such is the nature of the game here.

Not sure if Luke is repressing anything or not, but his character, to me, is like that of a gossipy old fishwife…
and this in the body of a 21 year old man, I do find disturbing.

    considering the present climate..

Bulwark will be pleased that Belinda goes on Friday,…
poor lady, she had such trouble on the bike  ..
    ..not a good actress.
