Just thought I’d point out that the ‘snide’ referred to a DJ posting and not LGRs…
;)
Best of luck with Tajjree by the way!
February 18, 2006 at 18:44 #68525Paid our first visit to see Taj today and here are a couple of piccies from the day (it was very foggy so apologies for some of the quality).

February 19, 2006 at 13:59 #68526We saw her yesterday & GD has kindly put some pictures up from yesterday, as you can see she’s looking a lot fitter & only 4-6 weeks away from a run if all goes to plan. It was foggy and we were denied a chance to see her on the gallops yesterday for ourserlves as she pulled off her shoe on Friday, although only a minor bruise and heat it was decided to have yesterday off.
We had a nice walk in the fog up to the gallops, a good old chat to the staff to find out their thoughts and a social drink and a good laugh at the local afterwards.
She’s doing well in her training and we are looking forward to seeing her on a racecourse at the end of March/Early April. If you still haven’t decided whether to join us or not yet then do so quickly as we only have 4 shares left.

I’m not interested in going over old ground as I’ve had my say on the matter. I would just point out three things. I am quiet clearly interested in this topic, hence why I posted my opinions on it and it isn’t your prerogative to tell me what I can and cannot comment upon. Secondly, your posts would be much easier to understand if you used full stops. Thirdly, I find it amusing that you mention you have been a work rider whenever you pass comment on virtually any issue. I’ve never sat on a racehorse in my life, God help the poor soul if I did but it doesn’t make my opinion any less valid.
March 8, 2006 at 18:27 #68528Right on both counts there BT.
People involved in racing professionally have to make a living of some sort if they possibly can.
You wouldnt go to the cinema or the pub & expect to see a film or have a drink at a price whereby the supplier didnt make anything at all for their trouble & the same thing applies here. ÂÂÂ
Looking at the prices Network Racing charge against training fees, racing fees and the usual every day expenses it’s fairly clear that any profit, if one exists, is totally minimal, particularly when you consider that they ultimately shoulder the financial risk of not fully subscribing the syndicate.
As for not ruining Tajjree’s mark early doors, i’m a great believer in not messing a horse about – let them take their chances & find their level.  In retrospect though we made it very hard for Celeritas to win a race last year off the mark he ended up with (probably as much through bad luck as anything else).
The maiden at Newmarket he finished 2nd in early on in the season threw up three black type performers including the winner of the Coventry.
The trainer looked for an easy opportunity for him later in the season and found a weakish lookng handicap on the all weather
That ended up being a course record time with the first two home both being black type animals.  He finished 5th that day and only went down about 3 lengths.
As a result, youre left with a maiden who has to give multiple winners weight away in handicaps.  The whole season panned out like that really.  ÂÂÂ
The advantage of this years syndiate horse is that if she shows some ability (and what we’ve heard so far has been encouraging) then there are some really uncompetetive 3 year old maiden races about, particularly early on in the season, which is when the trainer is looking to get her out initially.   ÂÂÂ

March 16, 2006 at 00:13 #68529Good luck with Tajjree daylight.Take no notice of DJ he is ALWAYS negative in any of his postings. You only have to read what everyone else had to say.<br>P.S I have sat on a racehorse.
March 25, 2006 at 13:23 #68530Good luck with Taj. I reckon she’ll be ok too and I’m looking forward to seeing her on the track.
I wouldn’t worry too much about her being a cheap buy – I’d be far more worried about paying through the nose for one that wasn’t worth it (ie Inca Trail!!!). There are often bargains to be had from Darley rejects and I hope Taj will be prove to be one of them.
March 25, 2006 at 18:49 #68531It isn’t the cost that matters it’s how they run.
Least Taj didn’t cost $500,000 or $9.7m like a certain Godolphin horse to be seen this year.
March 29, 2006 at 10:11 #68532I must say, i’ve been thinking of joing the ERC for around a year now, and having seen what plans are in the pipeline/going on, i’m even more interested about the prospect now.
So what that everything is rotating around Marju and Kalinka – Coolmore (bearing in mind I love Coolmore and hate Godolphin) seem to rotate a lot of their breeding around Danehill and Sadler’s Wells. But it works, and works very well in many cases.
Good luck Elite Racing Club!

March 29, 2006 at 18:51 #68534Double Post…..
(Edited by LetsGetRacing at 7:51 pm on Mar. 29, 2006)
March 30, 2006 at 19:24 #68535I really wouldn’t bother, Jackane. All membership entails is receiving a small magazine once a week which is full of self-congratulatory articles and letters from members singing Elite’s praise. The notes you get on each horse wouldn’t be any more information than is in the public domain and if you want to get information on whether a club runner is fancied you have to ring their hotline to listen to the recorded message. Ditto if you want anything else or any more info than is in the booklet. If you want to go to the races you have to telephone yet another ‘hotline’ and go on a waiting list; trainer/stable visits ditto and you have to pay for each one. I know quite a bit about Elite having had close association with them a few years ago and I would say that their ‘membership’ just isn’t worth it. I find it especially misleading that they market it as racehorse ownership – it’s not. You may own one hair in one of the horse’s tails but that is about it.

March 30, 2006 at 19:44 #68537Having heard what they say about their horses I’d suggest they hardly ever put you off backing them.
March 30, 2006 at 21:06 #68539Investing in an ERC horse = Sponsoring a star 9 million light years away or buying a zoo animal stationed somewhere East of Tibet.
Or is it the other way round – who cares ?
Why would you ?
March 31, 2006 at 23:20 #68540Being lazy – is it too late to join in for £80?
March 31, 2006 at 23:37 #68541Flag, go to Network Racing and click on "contact", DL will probably get your message sooner.
April 1, 2006 at 14:18 #68543I have just sent you a private message Flagship but Jim’s correct in that the best way to contact me regarding the syndicates is through contact page on the network site.
