Moore is just a serious cut above these,I love to Detorri as well but Moore is just a different breed at the moment. I only tend to slam horses when these 2 jocks are on or I know the horses turn on foot will get it out of trouble!

Just had time to watch it back and although I love Detorri I think he rose a stinker. Basically just set the race up for Moore. That being said The Gurkha was disappointing. The way the race went he should of won that very easily. It took him a very long time to get passed the pacemaker and only just held on. Detorri give a bad ride but the blame ultimately lies with Hugo…he dint don’t even put a pacemaker in! If he out a pacemaker GG would of probably been impossible to beat.

Ryan would of been extremely happy with his sit and he knew he would definitely win very early into the race.

Bollocks, Frankie had first run on the only out and out miler which was what you wanted.
A pacemaker would of been to Ryan advantage

You can’t race read at all, Frankie had to commit way to early as he was leading, goodwood is a long way home you will always get nabbed unless you have a silly turn of foot like Kingman or something…Moore did nothing but outstay GG as Frankie got the fractions wrong. The way the race panned out surprised TG didn’t win by at least 3

    Spot on Nathan.
Goodwood is one of the fastest tracks in the country, added to that the very firm ground adds to the speed test. Therefore, when the front runner does not go an overly strong pace he has an advantage. Suspect had The Gurkha got out earlier (or if the second hadn’t had tactical advantage) he’d have beaten Galileo Gold easier. Going in to the race Ribchester wasn’t certain to stay a mile – has 7f pace, as we saw when winning the Jersey easily. Positionally disadvantaged today, but a test of speed at a mile like today probably suits him. Although both (now) proven at a mile and previously proven on soft ground – there is a question whether he’ll stay a mile in a strongly run mile on soft ground? However, I do think believe we can now rate Ribchester the second best miler, with potential to improve further given the right conditions.

Gore, I think Frankie rode the perfect race. He had to try and beat TG for speed, and given that one’s Eclipse run I think it was reasonable to assume that he would not outstay the favourite. Haven’t see the sectionals but Ribchester’s finish suggests the early fractions were not too taxing. Had they been, TG would have won more easily imo. He’s a remarkably tough, classy and consistent horse.

Any horse leading is a terrible ride unless you get the fractions spot on or the horse is an absolute monster. TG struggled to beat a dead horse in GG, Frankie even gave up and TG only beat him a head or whatever. TG should of won by at least 3! at least!!

The race was a classic race where the two main horses were looking out for what the other was doing. The ghurka would have been much better suited by a pacemaker. He would have won more easily had he got out quicker. Hopefully get a wee break and then see him at the breeders cup

I think the best horse won and will win again given the same challengers. I’ve loved Galileo Gold since he won the Guineas, but the key to The Gurkha’s talent, for me, lies back at Sandown in The Eclipse. To run so well on that ground when he obviously wants it fast, and to do so in such a good race over 10f (Albeit not the greatest Eclipse ever run) stamps him as a top class colt who is very tough.

I’d like to be hoping GG could gain his revenge, but I very much doubt it.

Geez, you back-tracked in record time there Joe.

You went from bullish, to wringing your hands crying in the space of eight furlongs.

This was Galileo Gold’s first pull at top level on faster ground. All his good pots were won with cut in the ground.

The Gurkha is being seen as the next Frankel in some schools and it seems forgotten that he scrambled home in a three way go today.

Maybe I am blind but I can’t say I was shedding semen over The Gurkha as they flashed past together today. Mind you, if I could chuck it that high, I would probably be making a fortune in films such as Dessie Does Dallas. ;-)

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Ha ha, those schools need better teachers then. I’d estimate a good 7 or 8 lengths between Frankel and The Gurkha.

Not sure who is saying that. I said I thought he could be the next best Galileo AFTER Frankel – but there is quite a gap. And he still has a fair way to go before he is even that. You don’t give the horse much credit Stevie.

The horse had run only 5 times and will still have a lot of improvement. If he keeps winning then he’ll probably be off to stud and we won’t get to the bottom of him.

I honestly don’t know can you rate TG so high!!! It’s hilarious! This horse is ****!! Don’t ever talk about Frankel in the same bracket as this horse. Don’t ever talk about Canford cliffs in the same bracket, don’t ever talk about Kingman in the same bracket, don’t ever talk about mad moose in the same bracket hahaha. The Gurkha is a jumps horse! Ballydoyle only have two known monsters at the moment Caravaggio and Churchill.

I don’t think anyone is claiming The Gurkha as the second coming Gore. Do believe needing to wait for a gap means he’s slightly better than the distance between him and Galileo Gold suggests (but no more than a length – if that)… Ribchester worthy of rating the second best miler with potential to improve further. All three are genuine Group 1 horses, the best milers of 2016. That’s not to say they can be compared with Frankel or even Canford Cliffs. Timeform rate The Gurkha 127, Canford Cliffs was 133 and Frankel 147.

For this time of the season Caravaggio can be rated as an exceptional two year old, ie his rating compared to other two year olds – not older horses. If he continues improving who knows what he could become at three. Churchill has masses of undoubted potential, but many more two year olds have that. What has he done so far that’s anywhere near top class?
