Moon Racer looks like a 1-3 on chance to go the Supreme Lost Soldier
March 11, 2017 at 11:54 #1291053In fairness, Melon won a weak maiden hurdle as he liked, but any of the top dozen in the betting could have matched that performance.
I can’t agree with that I’m afraid. Thought he looked seriously good.
March 11, 2017 at 12:11 #1291061The Melon hype has been going since last summer. Looks like Mullins will have 4 in the race and if Melon is clearly better than the rest then that’s good enough for me. There is no Altior in the race. Ballyandy, Moon Racer and and Movewiththetimes are all overrated, I feel. Wouldn’t be mad about 3/1; happy with him at larger odds though – feeling confident. Neon Wolf the only danger and he’s Neptune Bound

March 11, 2017 at 12:13 #1291064Mind you i have seen 3-1 on shots beat before.

See what i mean
March 11, 2017 at 14:55 #1291130Easy come, easy go! At least I’ve still got one runner, though I’ve had an ante-post stinker on this race.
Exchanges seemed to know the answer with Moon Racer during the week.
March 11, 2017 at 15:15 #1291138Couldn’t resist it – gone in again for the 6th time on Crack Mome at 16s. Betting dosn’t suggest it but i think this is Mullins 2nd string. Good ground suits
March 11, 2017 at 15:30 #1291143Broken soul beaten 50+ lengths now, worrying for melon again

One place and 7 unplaced from Melon’s race in eight runs since. We knew it probably wasn’t a great race but the runner up has been woeful and his mark of 130 looks fanciful to say the least. The third horse is rated 115 and the rest are very modest.
I couldn’t back Melon and in general I feel Willie’s novices aren’t great this year, perhaps explaining the need for 21 entries in the Delloite.
I am not backing one in this race, it’s as uninspiring as I can recall in thirty years.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

If neon wolf comes in, ill pile on,other than that, on the day ill probably just lay most of what i backed a few months ago
Very uninspiring race for me also
The more i think about it the more airlie beach would slot in here nicely also getting 7lbs, but overall, poor.

Makes Melon’s mark of 151 sound even more ridiculous.
March 11, 2017 at 19:02 #1291196Now that the banker goes for the Champion Hurdle I’ll have to go for River Wylde on the presumption he will improve again. Handles any, form (including point) suggests will improve for a stiffer test than Ludlow/Kempton and had genuine excuse for poor outcome only course run.
March 11, 2017 at 19:45 #1291201I am on Neon Wolf 7/1 NRNB and have just backed High Bridge at 16/1 because if neon goes Neptune which looks likely there is going to be a shake up in the betting!!
I can’t have Melon on my mind for numerous reasons but the form is shocking and it is TWENTY FIVE years since a once raced horse has won this !!
March 11, 2017 at 22:59 #1291244I was being vigorously told today how Melon is not a Vautour, Douvan or Champagne Fever (not even a Min) but he won’t have to be anywhere near their league to win what is probably poorest renewal of the Supreme since 2007 (Ebaziyan – trained by one W P Mullins).
March 11, 2017 at 23:50 #1291259Backed Bunk Off Early and Ballyandy both 25s and 33s NRNB for Supreme last weekend. Makes the anticipation that much sweeter!
Not sure if Bunk Off Early turns up. Maybe kept back for aintree and punchestown. Great price tho if he makes it. Ballyandy wins nothing
He turns up alright. Bye Moon Racer. Bye Neon Wolf.
