One of my fav races at the meeting, robbed with ‘Darlan’ 25/1 and ‘MTOY’ 25/1,nailed ‘Vautour’ 10/1 and ‘Altior’ 8/1 but Arcalis winning this in 2005 was my greatest result in the ‘Supreme’.’Senewalk’ was the long time Ante-Post fav for this even before Rich Ricci signed the cheque,he needs to do the same on ‘Cilaos emery’ if he’s got one for this years race I reckon. My idea of this years winner is another Grey…Capitaine 25/1 in places still, this fellow will be single figures if he wins the grade 1 Tolworth on Saturday and the logical stepping stone to the ‘Supreme’itself, yes I know Historically Tolworth winners tend to take the ‘Neptune’ route but this greys a free runner and 2m is his trip this year.I’m hoping he can run em ragged at Sandown and go to Cheltenham and lay it down to ‘Moon Racer’ a horse who has been trained for this for the past 2 years.

I quite like the look of Capitaine but for me the ground needs to be good to soft at worse, soft or heavy would put me off. However at 25’s with William Hill I’ve taken a chance. Apologies for burdening your selection with my money TAPK

Always re-assuring when others agree Aaron,Good luck.Tell you something, when I first saw ‘Finians Oscar’ win at lowly Hereford the other week I wrote down ‘Neptune/Albert Bartlett’ type so I’m amazed connections fancy taking on the speedy Capitaine over 2m..9/4 about our horse on Saturday should read 6/4 imo.

A horse I like for this race is one nicky Henderson brought to the race track on boxing day and it’s called Charli Parcs won with any amount in hand liked the good ground jumped well and really picked up after the last!

Just a bit worried about which race he will go for currently available to back at 16s for the supreme but might be a Neptune target?.thoughts on the horse and what race will they aim the horse at?.

I’m with Capitaine at 25/1 here despite his 2nd at the weekend, still think the hurly burly of this race will suit him – he has the Al Ferof’ss about him!

Still, he might be running in the Supreme. Binocular finished 2nd (?) in the Supreme as a 4yo for the same trainer.

Any normal year I think charli Paris would go triumph I’m just confused because McManus has so many of the market principles in the triumph and none in the supreme that he may put one or 2 of his triumph horses in the supreme

Indeed he did- to the same owner’s Captain Cee Bee, no less. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see at least one of the McManus juveniles switched to the Supreme, especially as none of the older novices has really stamped its authority on the two mile division yet.

I think there’s a fair chance Finian’s Oscar could end up here so a nibble at 12/1 might not be a disastrous idea despite the fact the Neptune seems the more winnable race.

I thought the same owners would go for the triumph hurdle with defI du seuli that’s why I thought 16s for the supreme looked massive for charli parcs and I have no doubt the horse has a serious engine.

Right, I’ve got a couple of fancies here and I wanna see where we stand with this market. Any strong trends to look at right now? Not really. Looking for a IRE/FR-bred 5/6 year old

Moon Racer 7/1f because he won the bumper a couple of years back. Bumper winners don’t win this and he might be going Champion Hurdle. He’s also 7. Big no.

Finian’s Oscar goes for the Neptune IMO. Wouldn’t win this anyway.

Cilaos Emery is priced up on Mullins hype?

Ditto Crack Mome? We just don’t have enough information about either of these two.

I just watched Charli Parcs for the first time earlier and my god he looked good. Does he run here? 4yo but so what, Binocular finished 2nd from a handful or runners

    Chateau Conti…another Mullins runner.

Melon’s not been out yet, but British-bred. Out.

A few iffy ones towards the top of the market. No doubt at least one of them will end up being a 3-mile novice hurdler.

Basically the two I’m interested in are Jenkins and Capitaine.

Jenkins put up one of the best novice hurdle displays of the year, and the form’s worked out really well. He’s clearly a major talent. Both his losses have come going right-handed, and he looks to perform a good deal worse going that way actually. Only a bumper, but he got beaten by Coeur De Lion at Punchestown, a horse who had done absolutely nothing in two previous outings over hurdles.

Could Jenkins run 2 stone below form going right-handed? I’m just looking at Ballyhill beaten 14L in 3rd, 5L ahead of Jenkins…Pingshou beat Ballyhill comfortably, and Jenkins beat Pingshou comfortably. Ballyhill has no right finishing ahead of Jenkins. Clearly the form is ‘wrong’. Henderson knows what he’s talking about when it comes to superstars, and if he says that Jenkins is a very good horse, then he is. 25/1 is crazy mad value, especially given he was 6/1f 2 weeks ago.

And the other horse is Capitaine. He qualifies on a little Nicholls angle I’ve found. 33/1 is a mad overreaction to yesterday. He was coming into the Tolworth very nicely, made a race-ending mistake and then took until 100 yards out to really get going again, on ground that possibly may not have suited him. 2 of his 3 career defeats have come on soft ground. He destroyed Captain Forez, giving him 7lbs no less, and that makes it one of the best novice hurdler performances of the season. 33/1 really is nonsense.

Must admit I am still confused with Jenkins as you say… His first run was unbelievable form and he couldn’t even jump. I still think Jenkins will play a big part in supreme but I would like to see him run and win at least twice before March for me to bet him again.

Another of hendersons I’m interested in is William Henry. I remember a couple years ago he was going to be hendersons top supreme horse. I believe it was lami serges year but William got an injury. I still think William Henry has the same ability and could be a dark horse

Be careful reading into that Coeur De Lion form for Jenkins as the horse never ran again, being killed in a freak accident after and the Coeur De Lion who’s won a maiden hurdle and been placed in a couple of decent juvenile events is a different horse trained by King. The former was trained by Robert Tyner.

That said I do think the market overreacted to Jenkins’ defeat LTO and 25/1 is probably too big for a horse who has his undoubted ability. I remember MTOY taking a walk in the market after he was turned over at long odds on by his stablemate Chatterbox before eventually going off a short priced jolly for this when I was sat on a 16/1 voucher, win only :negative:

If Charli Parcs runs in this he’d have an outstanding chance on the visual impression left by that one run but unfortunately only Skybet are NRNB and their 8/1 is pretty short when there are still many unknowns.

Ah that’s pretty nice, 8/1 NRNB. He’ll be that, or even shorter, if he’s confirmed for the race.

Nicky Henderson is on Matt Chapmans on the line show this evening so he may have some info on these
