I think that connections saying all year (not just lately) he could go for the CH gives me a lot of confidence for the Supreme.CH is really open and should be 5/1 the field really and the fact that Yanworth is favourite, will i think sway them to go to the CH.

Whatever happens i can see MR showing big improvement next time out at Cheltenham and if he goes for the CH they must think he has a chance of winning surely or why even consider it?

Was matched at 78.0 for the supreme and 15.0 for the champion . See this a completely different way to me.
    But I hope your right

F@@k it, convinced myself more. Back in on Moon Racer @ 11/2 NRNB for the Supreme.

Just missing Arkle, Mares, QM, Mares NH & Foxhunters barring any disasters

They were planning another race for him this year but needed more time. I also read on Twitter about some work he did a couple of weeks ago that obviously has prompted this.On the other hand i read they were struggling to get him fit for Cheltenham so make of it all as you will.

Just rumours mind you, hence backing him NRNB for the CH before all this uncertainty.

I was there when Moon Racer won the Tattersalls bumper at 50/1. I was there when he stalled at the start, got boxed in and stormed home to win the champ bumper. Look at the list of horses behind him that day, look at the manner at how he did it. I was in puchestown when he came like a train after a year off the track and was barely beaten by Blow by Blow (that turn for home is really worth watching again on ATR site). I think this lad is a bit of a freak really. He has had the most unorthodox prep throughout his career and yet always delivers. There is certainly a leap of faith involved, but less of a leap than the likes of melon or bunk off early (beaten by Bacardys, who’s been beaten by Ballyandy).

The other element is winning Cheltenham form – MR and Ballyandy have this, the others don’t. They’re the 1,2 for me. Melon looks talented and ran relatively fast though sectionals not great vs others on the day. The best Irish novices look bound for other races (Airlie beach, lets dance, saturnas) the remaining Irish contenders arent a patch on what they have been in previous years

I’d say Bink Off Early would have taken Bacardys if it was 2 miles and Bumper form has been known to have been reversed over hurdles. I think Champagne Fever is the only horse to do the Bumper/Supreme double

Funny you didn’t use the distance logic when applying a negative to Ballyandy getting beaten at 2m3 in your previous post!

No horse has done anything to make me sway from Moon racer to be honest and think 7/1 (as he was when I posted) looks a great bet now.

But looking at the market as it currently is, everything looks a bit short really.

I mean it looks extremely open with the possibility of MR not running here, the possibility of Melon being a superstar and the chance that something is yet to fire and could find form at any moment.

I’d say that it’s not particularly a race I’d want to play on but will probably have something small on MR again if he turns up.

Only got the 7/1 in a few multiples unfortunately..

Should be a very interesting race to watch though

Surely if he was a freak they would be running him in the champion.

Guys, watch a video of Melon’s win on the flat in france. It’s on youtube.

This fellow is all about staying and having a kick at the end. Made for the supreme imo.

Life’s been up and down for me this past year. We just hit a big down with my Wife’s sister being diagnosed with non-operable cancer. It’s just a matter of how long. I suppose writing here helps me take my mind of her predicament.

I had been pissing about on another forum but my heart wasn’t really in it. People there don’t seem to want to discuss why a horse might win, it’s more about just stumbling across winners from time to time. The amount and quality of discussion just wasn’t there.

My horse of this season has been Native River. I had him ante-post for the Hennessy and The Welsh National. I also backed him for the Gold Cup at 33/1. There was just something about him made me see him as an exciting young chaser.

Anyway, as the wise old man once said, “Confuse Us, he say take no truck with forum that has ANTI-POST section”

Sorry to read that Steve, lifes been tough all round in many ways and Forum is a great melting pot of different views and opinions and I know that it has helped me through difficult times recently.

Looking forward to your thoughts and choices on the coming flat season and just think how many trees you are saving by writing all your thoughts down on here.

Welcome back and all thoughts with your wife and family..Jac :rose:
