Great performance from VautourVautour yesterday, TTT put to the sword. Did anyone watch on atr? They were all over Ttt to a man and woman, they were scratching round for excuses afterwards and it was quite clear they’d done their brains on him. The lovely Gina Bryce sounded like she’d gone to bed with Brad Pitt and woken up with Johnny Vegas!
Ruby gave him a great ride, but as hard as Ttt tried to bridge the gap. Ruby never got serious and looked to have lots left in the tank. I think this will prove to be a serious bit of form and if Ttt goes for the Neptune the pair could end up taking both races.February 10, 2014 at 21:42 #467750Great performance from VautourVautour yesterday, TTT put to the sword. February 10, 2014 at 23:22 #467755First Mohican put up by price at 20s.
Personally on West Wizard at 16s, Garde La Victoire at 33s and The Liquidator at 25s, think they could all shorten in the next few weeks.

Both can be followed, depending on the odds, of course

February 19, 2014 at 19:13 #468511Will West Wizard run?
February 19, 2014 at 19:57 #468514Hi Rich,
Not sure if your tongue is in your cheek re West Wizard. If not, here’s the latest "We’re going to leave him alone," Henderson. "He has just had issues. You could bring him back and win a novice in March somewhere, but there’s no point in that." So from that unfortunately he’ll not be going to Cheltenham.
February 19, 2014 at 20:12 #468515Wasn’t intended to be tongue in cheek, I hadn’t noticed connections had ruled him out of Cheltenham, it was more a reply to an earlier poster who had backed him and expected him to shorten. Like I said before he’s probably one for next year, but there’s no denying he’s had a very tame stray to his young career.

February 23, 2014 at 13:16 #468906My take on the supreme novices 2014 is as follows. My idea off the winner is vautour a improving horse who jumps his hurdles slick (except for the odd mistake)…He won a grade one against the tullow tank the other week where as jumping the last it looked like he might come to vautour but he found more and wouldn’t let him get a blow in.I was really impressed wen he won his grade 2 beating western boy by 3/4 length, the thing i was impressed with jumping the last looked like western boy would get him but vautour found more (guts and determination needed to win a supreme for the climb up the hill). So this is my idea off the winner thoughts?.
February 24, 2014 at 13:21 #469010If theres no horse can work with Irving at Paul Nichols as its to fast for anything else including his chamnpion hurdle entries, surely Irving must be unbeatable
February 24, 2014 at 13:35 #469013Iv’e seem many cheltenham bridle horses and not as many win as you would think…Surely if he pulls like he does irving will have trouble getting up the hill?.
February 24, 2014 at 13:44 #469015Irving is a classy flat type with oodles of speed, which is against the grain for the profile of a typical supreme winner of the last decade or so since the ground became guaranteed G/Sft.
Also, he’s only gone right handed over jumps. May be irrelevant, but worth noting.
Vautour is the one for me and i’m clutching a 12/1 (cyber!)voucher so i’m biased . He does look to have all the attributes, speed/stamina/jumping/the best jockey bar none to name a few.
Also, i will be delighted if Irving continues to be backed into favourite as they have a terrible record in this race, the only thing that was concerning me about Vautour!!February 24, 2014 at 13:53 #469017Couldn’t agree with you more.Vautour looks a machine i loved how he jumped last time fast and quick(touch wood).I love the guts he showed wen beating western boy.Im really confident he will deliver the goods. You need class to win a supreme no doubt but battling qualities is very important too..Im having a decent bet on Vautour to start my festival off.I hope they all back irving and vautours price gets bigger..Hopefully paddy power will do a offer if irving wins money back make it a very tasty bet then!..How do you think he will be ridden?.
February 24, 2014 at 14:01 #469019I think Ruby will have him towards the head of affairs just off the pace and kick on coming down the hill. If I recall rightly many of the recent principals have raced prominently although one or two like Al Ferof and Noland got outpaced and stayed on strongly.
I can see Irving cruising up to challenge but like last year Walsh’s mount sticking his head down and fending himn off.February 24, 2014 at 14:11 #469021I was thinking walsh could even make the running as he did last time?.As probably that was his most impressive performance to date.Either way think he will be ridden handy at least.Give me a battler anyday over a bridle horse. We dont know what irving will find once push comes to shove im hoping not much!
February 24, 2014 at 15:24 #469026Don’t really think it’s fair to call Irving a bridle horse. He might quicken and find plenty for all we know. Vautour got the run of the race last time and beat a horse (TTT) that needs further. He won’t get such an easy time of things in the hurly burly Supreme and I can see Irving settling better at a quicker tempo. After Saturday, Irving stands out for me. Something may improve for better ground or just be completely unexposed and win but I’ll be surprised if Vautour beats Irving. I may look silly after the race but hey ho.
