looks like it could be the most interesting of the 2yo races at the meeting. feared in flight looked a little unlucky to me at ascot and has a definite shout here, if theres a bit of rain then I think Declaration of War could be a very interesting runner. However just for the value I’ve gone with Bigfanofthat. at 16/1 with ladbrokes and paddys this morning (only 11s on betfair). I think thats an astonishing price considering he beat montaquila who is half those odds and on a line through that horse doesnt have much to find on the favourites maiden form.
This is a race Im really looking forward to, anyone have any strong opinions?
July 13, 2007 at 08:08 #107646well its price just doubled on the exchanges but still…
July 13, 2007 at 08:27 #107647Nothing leaps off the page.
It’ll be interesting to see how Declaration Of War runs on the good to firm going because, apparently, he was unsuited by quick ground in the Coventry – well, that is the excuse PCH put forward for his defeat. I wonder what Peter will say if DOW wins today.
For a selection I’ll go with Feared in Flight but not with any great confidence.
July 13, 2007 at 08:50 #107649Feared in Flight has a very decent LTO speed rating….and I’d expect further improvement. He’s my nap for today. Also fancy EA in the first and MINE later on…..July Cup is a nightmare to pick…..heads/tails ASSET/BENTLY BISCUIT.

I think that your fancy has a very good chance in this race. The leading three players are nothing special, even though they have decent form and it would be no great surprise to see something improve past them.
Bigfanofthat won first time out at Ayr in what looked a fair maiden and looks sure to be a threat today. 16/1 looks a value price, but not astonishing.I would be concerned if it drifted out too far on Betfair, given the stable.July 13, 2007 at 09:20 #107653Big speed figures have to be taken seriously, imo, but a couple of horses bother me against Feared In Flight.
One is Let us Prey. He made a pleasing debut when 3rd to Swiss Franc – which is fair form – and should improve for the experience. Spencer is booked and I’m expecting a huge run.
Another is Bigfanofthat. His form has a link with FIF, through another of today’s runners (Montaquila), and should be thereabouts, imo.
Both of the aforementioned are double-figure odds, so e/w the two could be the way to go.
July 13, 2007 at 11:28 #107682well thats scuppered that!
July 13, 2007 at 11:31 #107683Bigfanofthat a non runner.

Hatta Fort must have a squeak.
Bit more than a squeak, Himself, considering how he’s run over 5f which is surely not his distance?
July 13, 2007 at 13:58 #107709good call with hatta fort, I did think declaration of war looked a little unlucky tho, horse hung in front of him and he had to check slightly when he was starting to move forward and had to hold on till it moved to go again.

Yes, you’re probably right.

July 13, 2007 at 16:13 #107760Let Us Prey is the one to take out of the race for me. Slowly into stride and green as grass, he finished strongly to finish fourth. Well entered and sure to appreciate a step up in trip.
