George Washingtons temperament was well documented regardless of what Aidan O’Brien termed it. I’d suggest that temperament only becomes an issue when it effects racecourse performance, it clearly didnt with George Washington if the price breeders were willing to pay for access to him is anything to go by and it clearly hasnt with New Approach.
If you seriously think a horse who has won its maiden, a Tyros, a Futurity, a National Stakes, a Dewhurst, an Epsom Derby and was beaten a nose in a 2000 Guineas in its first 8 races comes between the Sun and the Moon distance of a Timeform Squiggle then I’d say you couldnt make it up…oh you just have.
100% certain of that.
That is not what I said mate.
It is obvious New Approach is a top class horse and deserves great credit for winning those races. Without doubt he does NOT deserve a squiggle for what he has done so far, far from it. But he has demonstrated temperament flaws in those performances that could develop in to more than that.Oh, and temperament did effect George Washington in his racing carreer at times, sometimes not finding much under pressure (admittedly did not need to), bolting to post etc.

Value Is EverythingJune 8, 2008 at 13:35 #167373I didn’t say George Washington wasn’t effected by temperament in his racing career. I did say that temperament didn’t seem to factor too much in his initial stallion fee. The effect of temperament on a stallion’s fee is what you alluded to in your posts on this thread.
Anyway we’re starting to go around in circles now but the gist of your argument as I understand it is that connections of New Approach should "seriously" consider withdrawing the horse from training forthwith, citing a feigned injury because there is a 3/1 chance the horse will get a Timeform Squiggle in the Irish Derby.
You must be on a wind up Gingertipster.
