I notice smarkets horseracing liquidity has improved massively, and its commission is only 2%. Turnover pre-race is bigger than Betfair’s on some races, so it looks like Betfair is no longer dominant. Betdaq remains significant but not as big as the other two. I’m switching a lot of my betting to smarkets and I would advise other punters to consider it.
June 28, 2015 at 11:14 #1117533Thanks Kasparov. I had not heard of smarkets prior to your post, but I’ll most certainly check them out. It will be most welcome to have some serious competition for Betfair, will it not?

June 28, 2015 at 16:16 #1117636I used to use them for football trading. Then (a year or two ago) their racing liquidity was not great. They were ok to deal with but used to have outages at critical times (i.e. Saturday afternoons). I’d need to be convinced that was behind them before doing anything with them on racing.
That said – looking at the Cartmel 5.25 just now they do have some liquidity (better than I remember) currently matched 16k against BF’s £55k.June 28, 2015 at 18:59 #1117700It’s has fairly basic functionality but it’s ok for straightforward win and place punting.
