It’s a very competitive handicap, and although COOLOGUE is worse
off at the weights this year, than when he ran 2nd to Ziga Boy last year, I think
that this will have been the plan for some time, and Charlie Longsdon will have
him spot on this year. He clearly likes it round here, comes into the race in
decent enough form, and has services of Brian Hughes who is riding out of his
skin this season. I can’t see him being out of the frame, he’s never been out of
the 1st 3 at Donny in 4 attempts, albeit last time doesn’t count, being 2nd in a 3
runner affair. I think the 14/1 4 places with Paddy Power is as near as you can get
to an e/w banker.I bet Charlie Longsdon’s Loose Chips in the final of the Veterans Handicap Chase at
Sandown 3 weeks back, he ran a cracker in 3rd, but it was his less fancied stable
mate, Pete The Feat, that took the spoils that day. I don’t want lightening to strike
twice here, and I think his 2nd string LONG LUNCH is well worth a
covering bet. He showed improved form last time over C/D, going down by a nose with
Ziga Boy well held 5 lengths back. He’s up 5lb for that, but carrying bottom weight
of 10-6, with the very decent Graham Watters taking his 3lb claim off, he is worth
chancing at 22/1 4 places with Ladbrokes, or even safer at 20/1 5 places with SkyBet.It’s as good a Saturday’s racing as we’ve had for some time, best of luck all
January 28, 2017 at 10:59 #1284163Southfield Royale to win @ 8’s BOG 3.40 Don
I can see him going onto better things this year and looks on a good mark
January 28, 2017 at 16:39 #1284265Very well done Racingorchid and Charlie, you didn’t even have to sweat
with that run, he won easily
January 28, 2017 at 16:57 #1284277Well done Bobby Charlie and Orchid TOP STUFF!! Never looked like getting beat
January 28, 2017 at 17:01 #1284280Very nice guys, well done.
January 28, 2017 at 17:17 #1284283Ziga Boy @ 14’s
Long Lunch @ 20’s
January 28, 2017 at 17:58 #1284290Apologies Bobby, I just realised you also had him bet a while back. Well done
to you too, keeping your good form going
January 28, 2017 at 21:51 #1284345lol Graham, don’t be daft

Cheers guys, very happy with that today, and one of those rare occasions, when even at halfway, I was fairly confident, and he did it really nicely. Made up for The Becher, when he was brought down at the first.
January 28, 2017 at 22:15 #1284364As long as the ground is good ZB would have a chance-he is a standing fish around here and was a decent 3rd last time.
I went for Ziga boy last week at the 16’s Joliff, and thought that was a fair price. As you say, knows his way round here, not far off last years winning mark, and should be better for his runs so far.
and added another few quid yesterday on Another Hero. Big fan of this horse, and he did me a turn at the 50’s at Ascot last time. He still looks well treated, and as long as the heavens don’t open,
Rock The Kasbah 16’s win
Ziga Boy 16’s ew
Another Hero 14’s winGL
Bloody heavens opened alright Bob,helped ‘Ziga’ but hindered ‘Hero’…His time will come though.Well done pal.
January 28, 2017 at 22:30 #1284372Cheers Gord
very happy with Ziga today, and now just to hope he goes a lot lower in The Aintree market.Yeah, I had written Another Hero off with that ground, but he’s ran a screamer. Hopefully he can pay his way before the end of the season, and I really think he will. Looks perfect for The 3 Miler on Day 1 at Cheltenham, and I wouldn’t be ruling him out of Irish or Scottish National.
January 28, 2017 at 22:46 #1284383Well done winners
I’d missed this thread somehow and did ZB myself as well as putting him in Pats comp (so no aftertiming here).
Ran well off the front

January 29, 2017 at 15:42 #1284534Thanks everyone . I just love these big chases. This was one of those rare occasions when it looked the winner, bar a fall, virtually throughout the race.
