    Entries…

At 25’s, the pair who jumped out at entry stage were Coopers Cross, and Percussion. I like both of their profiles for this, and particularly with Percussion, the 25’s is way too big. Can’t consider him right now though, as he holds a weekend entry.

I’m definitely not touching this race right now, but gun to my head, my early bets would be Cloth Cap 25’s, or Aye Right 33’s. Both loads of ability, both coming down the weights, and both off the back of improved runs last time, but even at current odds, I’ll leave it for now.

Of those at the head of the market, thought Dusart interesting, while if not for his pair of entries at the weekend, Danny Kirwan would appeal most of the Nicholls entries, particularly at the 25’s

No bet just now, though not ruling out an Antepost in next few days, depending on future entries

    Update

No real change to earlier thoughts here, and most interested in Aye Right, Cloth Cap, and Coopers Cross at this stage.

At 33’s, I’ll go early with Aye Right, as I think his odds have the most potential to shorten.

Almost certainly be Cloth Cap of the other pair, but I’ll see how it looks at weekend.

    Aye Right 33’s

I think that Happy-go-lucky is a very appealing price at 25-1, and I will definitely be adding him at some stage.

My early bet though is on GA Law. I think that’s there more improvement to come, and he’s a fair price at 14-1.

This race, once the Great Yorkshire, has changed fundamentally over the years, now 3m not 3m2f and attracts a different type of chaser.

Simply The Betts, now 4lb below his last winning mark, would be interesting if he got the trip and Cap Du Nord is now 2lb below his last winning mark.

Into Overdrive is progressive and a 5lb rise for winning the Rowland Meyrick seems fair.

But for me Mr Incredible casts a huge imponderable shadow over the entire contest.

    He remains very unexposed.

I’d be interested in stolen silver for this. Although I’d prefer it if her went straight to Cheltenham for the ultima off an unchanged mark.

I’ll definitely be betting Dusart if he runs here, but I’m not betting him just yet

Stolen silver still has an option here but I’ve gone in early on Ga Law. He wasn’t due to run but has been diverted here after the recent Ascot abandonment.

He could be chucked in. Grade one winner carrying 11st 5lb looks to be very favourable terms.

He won the paddy power through staying on and this looks the idea step up in distance.

Into Overdrive isn’t exactly well handicapped, but a 5lb rise for his Rowland Meyrick win looks fair and he’s a progressive staying chaser who should go well.

I was there when Autumn Rain won this in 1978.

What’s your thinking with Cloth Cap VtC?

He’s ran like a camel the last 18 months.

He’s 11 now and clearly regressive so I’m curious to know where you think he’s going to find the necessary improvements from to trouble the judge?

Weights coming down slightly but not enough to begin to tempt me!

It was just that run at Aintree Tiz that I liked.

I said before the 2021 National that his win at Kelso wasn’t as impressive as many thought, and so it proved. He certainly didn’t merit that mark he was on.

Agree also on those runs the last 18 months, just the type of bet to make a real fool of myself with. Especially now I’ve had to take 10’s instead of 25’s. FFS

Got to go with him now, and I’ll add Coopers Cross

Edit – Small top up 11’s

    Cloth Cap 11’s
    Coopers Cross 20’s

Yeah if you’d gone in earlier and now been sat on some 25’s at 48 hour stage I’d say it was a shrewd bit of thinking as he was always likely to run in it I guess.

7’s is a bit on the skinny side but the omission of the likes of into overdrive and dusart certainly helps.

I took 8’s on Ga Law monday. Counts for nothing until he crosses the line in front of course!

Yeah, no flies on me, but I couldn’t bet two Antepost. Annoying as I thought he was a cert to run, but I thought the same about Aye Right.

GA Law an interesting horse. Trainers earmarked next years Gold Cup as the plan, but in this years at 100’s. If he backs you up Saturday, they might just change their tune. Certainly a more sensible shout than Cloth Cap. Good luck

I know it’s been mentioned mate but I’ll be staggered if he’s good enough to line up in this or next years GC.

And that’s allowing for the fact this seasons novices look nothing out of the ordinary.

One Chase today was 1.46 sec outside standard and this race is only 3m nowadays.

Anything that wants 3m2f+ and/or mud is likely to get taken off its feet.

GA Law has an obvious chance, but at the odds I like Java Point.
