Out of betting for Sunday’s Race. Question marks over ailment.
January 22, 2009 at 17:33 #205765He’s had another setback apparently, so will miss the race.

This has already been covered on the ‘Big Races’ section.
This is aimed at no one in particular, but can we not start a new thread every time a thought pops into our head?
It might just be me, but the forum lately looks like the ramblings of anyone who cares to post, rather than a serious discussion group.January 22, 2009 at 18:57 #205793So very sorry Reet Hard for starting this thread. To be honest, it was not just a thought about Sizing that popped into my head. I was watching ATR and the presenter had Boylesport in the studio who reported "breaking news" about Sizing. I never look at the Big Races section but recalled that Fist had mentioned this horse somehere on at least one of the threads under Horseracing and though Sizing means nothing to me I just thought I was doing other members a favour. Perhaps we need a Section entitled "Breaking News". In future, if I wish to post something would it be your advice that I should go through every archived thread just to ensure no repetition, please?
Do you think it might be an idea if you spell out in detail exactly what topics and words members should post in order to prevent these ramblings
which seem to offend you. It might help if you name names or point to particular posts, otherwise how can members take corrective action? On the other hand you could always "chill out". Really, It’s no big deal is it? And perhaps we ramblers will learn the proper way, given time.
Cheers

“And some fell on stony ground”
January 22, 2009 at 21:05 #205828That’s a good example of a serious discussion, Reet Hard. Thanks. Obviously, you’re someone to be taken seriously.
Good wishes

KenKen,
Dont take it to heart mate. It’s a valid point from Reet and one thats been brought up before. Fair play to you though if you didnt know there was a Champion Hurdle thread in the Big Races section.

January 22, 2009 at 21:19 #205835Thanks Halfway… but as someone who has posted a fair bit of late I’ve rather taken it to heart that it’s me that has upset a more senior member by rambling. I would hate to think that my postings are upsetting the more established members and yet I don’t consider I know enough about the intricasies of horsereacing to be able to enter into the kinds of serious discussions that Reethard suggests that this forum is about. At the same time I’m reluctant to be bullied off from posting.
Dilemma Dilemma. Perhaps there should be a vote; Ken to go or Ken to stay.January 22, 2009 at 22:50 #205857Not sure about SE being a talking horse, more I think he has a physical problem. Hopefully, the vet will find whatever it is.
On the other point, I agree very much with Reet, and emphatically so. Perhaps new members could be given a guide or something, as it’s impossible to keep up with all the topics, most of which are unnecessary,
January 22, 2009 at 23:06 #205861The first thing I do when I get back from work is put up the main horse racing thread and then go through the other sections when I have time; the news about Sizing Europe was, to my mind the most interesting thing that had happened today and I was pleased that my attention had been drawn to it. had it been on the big races discussion thread I wouldn’t have noticed it unless I specifically checked out that race…it also applies to both the Irish and English Championship races thereby the need to post on both threads it done correctly.
January 22, 2009 at 23:35 #205871Moehat,
If you want to read horse racing news, I suggest the Sporting Life or RP.
January 22, 2009 at 23:41 #205873I thought this forum was meant to be friendly and informative..can we please have some rules set instone as to what we should and shouldn’t say; ..are you telling me that I should read the racing papers first before I dare to contribute to anything on this forum?
January 22, 2009 at 23:52 #205879Moehat,
What i’m saying is this is a discussion forum, not a newsfeed site. My comment came across worse than I intended towards yourself so apologies and please don’t take any offence. Sizing Europe story should have probably featured under a race in Big Race discussions instead of proliferating each sub-forum with multiple topics containing similar points.
This place is becoming more and morelike Betfair which can only be a bad thing.
January 22, 2009 at 23:54 #205880I would suggest a visit to the ATR news section, or Sporting Life for racing news….rather than having to muddle through the nonsense….now a thread talking about how Sizing Europe appears to have been a one-hit wonder may have been more worthy of a forum…
January 22, 2009 at 23:56 #205882Lets face it the AIG form from last year hardly looks spectacular when reviewed now.
Some of us were saying it wasn’t all that great immediately afterwards.
January 22, 2009 at 23:58 #205883Pal?
There is no sour grapes from me, and I haven’t seen any from Reet. It’s a simple point that Reet made, and it’s only intended to not have the forum clogged up with multiple topics referencing the same story, horse or point of view.
Would you rather this forum had a thread every 5 minutes a la betfair, or was slighly more orderly and easier to navigate round?
January 23, 2009 at 01:09 #205899I heard a rumour Sizing Europe won’t run
