On the subject of having to wear a mask on public transport, there are medical exemptions. I qualify on two criteria.
I did a return train journey on Sunday without a mask and was not challenged on either trip. One railway officer directed me to my train with no questions asked.
These exemptions have not been widely publicised. Perhaps it is not surprising. Anyone could claim to have one of the qualifying conditions. How could rail staff tell if they were genuine?
If a rushed vaccine becomes available, I will not be taking it no matter the consequences.
June 24, 2020 at 21:13 #1491781I’ve recently bought 200 ‘Medical Face Mask EN14683 type IIR’ from Boots Online at about 50p each, many of which will be passed on to others (at cost of course
)Wore one for the first time today, having braved the High Street for the first time in several weeks, and felt a right berk as most weren’t wearing them; and those that were seemed to be youngsters who are the least vulnerable group
It became sodden, not with nasty germs but with sweat, as it was stiflingly hot
Asking in a branch of Sainsburys whether I had to wear one the reply was a shrug and ‘if you want to’
Think I’ll save them for the next time I venture on a train or bus and/or for the ‘second wave’ shortly after the pubs reopen on ‘independance day’
June 25, 2020 at 00:17 #1491789Wearing of face masks doesn’t stop you from getting the virus, it’s to stop you from spreading it. However Nicola Sturgeon in Scotland and Boris here says face coverings which can include scarfs. And I’ve seen a few customers were I work wearing masks some look like gas masks and one was wearing a scarf and felt an idiot for wearing one in spring/summer.
Of course wearing masks reminds me of the Jim Carrey film Somebody stop me

You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.July 12, 2020 at 15:39 #1493727Not quite right Rummy, a good filtration mask that filters 95 – 100 percent of particulates can offer excellent protection for users, never 100% but in the nineties depending on the grade. The M3 worn in ICU’s offers most I suggest.
UNMASKING MORE OF THE TRUTH
Between March 15th and April 16th 25,000 professional gunslingers were moved from hospital environments to care homes. All had smoking guns and not one was tested.
” Oh but we didn’t know about asymptomatic risk back then ! ‘
Send them down ! They are there in fine black print in Sage advice minutes to the Government and the WHO gave specific warnings in their advice. ” I can’t explain, and shakin’ all over.”
Initially back in February the advice was that staff did not need to wear masks and there was no block on visits.
In Europe, Spain is the only one ahead of our curve, but hear well, when you kneel down to say your prayers tonight, whatever your faith might be, hum the Ave Maria which includes the verse ; ” Holy Mary mother of God pray for us sinners ” and hum specially for the 30,000 plus who are no longer gonna be able say their prayers tonight or get that hot morning cuppa they so looked forward to.
Tortoise…True, it’s the little things in life, like me

flatcapgamble…” If I was a bitch Ol” Little Steps would be be seriously getting on my t*ts. He seems to be able to say everything in a bloody nutshell.
July 16, 2020 at 15:18 #1494004If anybody is against wearing a face mask to go in a shop then it is useful to know this.
I personally will not be complying with the draconian face mask ruling my grandparents did not fight in world war 2 and nor did anybody who bravely gave there life in the war for me to have all of my rights stripped less than 80 years later.KNOW THE LAW!
Remember, according to social distancing shop staff cannot “touch” you or come within 1 metre without breaking guidelines, (but of course they touch everything your buying) and if you refuse to wear a mask in their shop cannot physically throw you out, but can only call the police to enforce a government ‘guideline’. The big problem for the police is that that would be breaking the Law if they tried to enforce a ‘guideline’, because police can only legally enforce Criminal Law.
If the police detain you, or arrest you because, naturally, you have refused to cooperate, they are then guilty of unlawful detention, which comes under the criminal code of ‘kidnapping’.
If they try to fine you, without first ‘kidnapping’ you, you are not obliged to give them any information, not even your name, and without your name they cannot issue a fine.
If they find out your name, by whatever means and then issue a fine, you can simply state that you refuse to accept or pay any fine and they will then be obliged to caution you, which would be totally illegal since you will not have committed any crime (guidelines being optional to follow) and again, they would not be enforcing any law.
Know the difference: Guidelines come under ‘civil law’ and crimes come under ‘criminal law’. The police are not allowed to enforce ‘civil law’ – only the local authority and the civil courts can attempt to do that. So, demand that the Court issue you with a date for an appearance, and when/if you go to court your defence will be illegal detention and kidnapping, and in the civil court you will be able to demand substantial compensation as a counter-claim from the police, plus insist that criminal charges are brought against the arresting and detaining officers.
Now, nobody says that it will get to that stage, indeed it would be very unlikely to, but can you imagine how the Courts will be clogged up for years, perhaps decades, trying to process those bloody awkward bastards who had the bald-faced cheek to know the Law and also know their civil rights.
PS: Ensure you use your phone and record the whole even, to be used as leverage and evidence. But just remember this one fact – the police cannot enforce civil Law and therefore have no rights in determining whether or not you have to wear a mask, just because the government says so. That process would be called a ‘dictatorship’ and we are not quite there yet, despite this government’s valiant attempts to make it so.

July 16, 2020 at 19:08 #1494025Any shop owner can refuse entry to anyone they like, for any reason (subject only to Equality Law)…If necessary they can use reasonable & necessary force to remove them…This is the Common Law of Trespass. Whatever the rights & wrongs of masks, this is the law. Those who don’t like it are free to take their custom elsewhere, as shop owners are free to enforce or not, as they choose
July 16, 2020 at 19:46 #1494027Of course shop owners are free to do what they want, but in terms of law currently non mask wearers cannot be fined or arrested and for those who believe in freedom it’s important to know your legal rights.
Tesco, Lidl and Morrison’s have confirmed they will not be enforcing it.
July 16, 2020 at 20:08 #1494031Remember that there are medical exemptions from having to use masks. It is worth researching to see if you qualify. I do on two grounds.
I have obtained an exemption card from Disability Horizons, available for £4.95 on their website. I am not sure if these carry any legal force but they look official.
In my experience of using public transport since masks became mandatory a few weeks ago, officials back down very quickly when you tell them you are exempt on medical grounds. They are not going to risk being on the wrong end of a law suit and they know their employer will throw them under the proverbial bus if anything happened.
July 16, 2020 at 21:52 #1494045Jesus, what a load of bollocks. Why are people getting so worked up over being told to wear a mask? They have been a common sight in parts of Asia for years and much of the rest of Europe has also just managed to get on with it without complaining (yes, their grandparents fought in the war too).
If a small piece of cloth bothers you so much, I’d suggest looking up ventilators.
July 16, 2020 at 22:17 #1494055It’s just a small cloth for now but if people accept that you need to wear one to get in shops etc then they will also accept when they tell us you need to take the vaccine to get in shops and then that you need to be microchipped your use shops.
It’s about so much more than a piece of cloth and must be fought against if you believe in freedom. The fact that you don’t need a medical grade mask and any old piece of cloth will do shows that it’s not about safety it’s about control and conformity. I am not a slave and I do not consent to being muzzled.
Nobody saw the Nazis coming either and the people running the world are much worse than the Nazis ever we’re.
Cork I have also ordered one of those cards that say I am medically exempt.
If the majority accept masks now then much worse will follow.
July 16, 2020 at 22:19 #1494056The royals, bill gates etc and many high profile people have been talking about depopulation for years. It’s happening now, open your eyes and be prepared to fight before it’s too late.
July 16, 2020 at 23:54 #1494064Why do you need one? I thought it was a ‘civil law’ and the Police can’t touch you?
July 17, 2020 at 00:02 #1494065So that hopefully I won’t need to deal with the police and will be allowed to shop without my slave mask on?
If however the police are called I know my rights and exactly how to handle them.
Go out and clap, draw a rainbow, get on one knee and wear your slave mask you have the right to do all of the above.
Are you aware that the government have the right to take away your children, grand children, nieces, nephews without even informing you or with your consent. They can also come and take you away indefinitely without your consent. It’s one of the laws in the coronavirus act. I guess you support that though.
Let’s hope no child sneezes in school this winter because if they do then men in white suits will come and forceably take them away.
July 17, 2020 at 00:21 #1494067I agree regarding the mask, Being in scotland, people seem to be too happy for there own good to abide by this, unless everyone was being told to wear an ffp3 mask theres absolutely no point in putting anything round your face, they claim the science has evolved from only 8 weeks ago when the “science” did not back up the assumption it would help atall, unless it is a medical grade ffp3 mask
Now the local radio here Has very quietly started putting in radio ads saying only believe in “facts” from the government website regarding the virus, extremely totalitarian
Im more than happy to walk by people wearing a mask if they believe it helps, but now im the odd one out because i will not conform
The comical part is when it was introduced Up here the same as england, there was the best part of two weeks in between it being mandatory, those two weeks dont matter though.Be careful the virus has now evolved to know not to attack until the official face covering date and/or when your sitting in a restaurant/pub, but know this, as soon as you leave these establishments, you best run, its waiting outside.
Im not saying people should not be cautious and careful, the virus is definitely real as is all the other coronaviruses that have been around since time began, but government & people had a balance prior to this and the manner in which people have stood in a straight line without making there own assumption is frightening. The balance is slipping away a touch, a touch to far for me that i feel uncomfortable, i personally hope people avoid normal shopping etc unfortunately these businesses will be lost if thats done, but this will be the only way to get the life you had 6 months ago back.
No media or government speaks about the 100’s of millions of £’s lost on these “pop up” hospitals that had as many pedestrian admissions as hamilton races last week, no one talks about the countless lies being told, 1 day this works the next day it doesnt, if the media portray it as “the science has evolved” everyone seems to say thats good enough for me.
If you want to wear a mask, wear one, but dont criticise someone for not, if one cant decide what they do with there own health & wellbeing we have a big problem, much bigger than everyone seems to realise
July 17, 2020 at 12:35 #1494148In Scotland it’s very mixed who is wearing masks. The big supermarkets are insisting you wear one and won’t let you in without one but this means they have dispensed with social distancing and then they can get far more customers in. The smaller shops try to enforce it but if your just popping to get a paper or to the chemist to get a prescription you don’t feel the need to do it. I hope down the line we can have folk wearing masks if they wish and others not so if they feel it’s not necessary. As for only believing govts facts. Oh my sides. One morning it’s definitely not needing masks as there is no evidence it’s required but by teatime it’s essential. Cricket is banned for the near future then by teatime after a social media campaign it’s back to normal. The govt are following the science when it suits their agenda and seem to want to win a popularity contest instead of any worked out strategy. On a selfish note please have crowds soon so I can go tho Chester as obviously I had to cancel the May meeting.
July 17, 2020 at 13:22 #1494152https://racingtv.com/news/goodwood-to-allow-limited-crowd-as-part-of-pilot-events
Some hope on the horizon. World snooker champs and a county cricket game also on the trial list. Football looking at 1st October.
Question is if it’s successful at Goodwood when will crowds be allowed at other courses?
July 18, 2020 at 09:21 #1494236I for one will be wearing a mask in shops. I don’t really want to but for ease without the possible questioning from staff and members of the general public might as well. Don’t spend too much time in shops anyway so I don’t really see the point (except maybe the bookies). It’s weird how I have to wear one for spending two minutes in a shop not saying a word apart from Hello, thanks and bye but can spend 4-5 hours in the pub gassing to my mates without wearing one
