Superior Wisdom; just been looking at this one. Does anyone know why he was off the track for two years? Prior to that he came second in a hurdle race at Aintree. Out of that race has come a Grand National winner, a Whitbread winner and a Welsh National winner. Was jumping really well in his last race until slipping.According to John and Auroras Encore were also in the race [finished behind him, as did Don’t Push It, although he was giving him a few pounds [@6]. Interesting.
April 16, 2010 at 21:30 #290699I am hoping Gidam Gidam will run a very big race tomorrow for John Mackie. The horse has always been thought of as a Scottish National type and has not had a hard season so should be fresh and well for this. Good ground is fine for him and as long as he handles the hustle and bussle OK early on he should run very well – plenty going for him at 33/1 IMO
April 16, 2010 at 21:34 #29070240/1 with Ladbrokes now! Have had a small ew [at 33/1]. Went to John Mackies yard many years ago when he had Wigtown Bay. Not far from the famous Salt Box Cafe if I remember right. Would be nice for a local horse to win a big one. Good luck!

Wigtown Bay is still enjoying retirement up in Scotland somewhere – I remember him being a Derby Evening Telegraph Own a Racehorse competition horse in the Eighties. Yes the Salt Box Cafe is still there – great breakfasts still! Fingers crossed for the yard tomorrow – they deserve a big winner.
April 16, 2010 at 22:00 #290713So the old boy is still with us? I’ve got some nice photos of him somewhere. If Gidam Gidam wins I shall take my ‘winnings’ [25 pence ew at 33/1!] to the Salt Box and have a cup of tea to celebrate!

‘leg trouble’, but you’d have already guessed that anyway.

I’ve got 30p ew so I should be really drunk if he wins
Was obviously keen to find out about Theatrical Moment doing the double for Jackdaw but looks like his chances are all down to whether he stays or not…..Seems like one of the patrons, Sir Robert Ogden’s That’s Rhythm was more of a talking point as one been laid out for this. He will be staying on when many have thrown in the towel and is worth a few bob but this looks tougher to work out the the Grand National itself..
April 17, 2010 at 07:35 #290747I can outdo both of those: I’ve got 4 pence @ 50 on That’s Rhythm in the ante-post market!

Add me to the (apparently) short list of Superior Wisdom supporters.
Two years on the sidelines don’t appear to have had a marked effect on him and he’d be arriving on the back of two impressive victories but for a horrendous mistake last time.
If he stays – stamina has to be a concern – he’s got a chance.
April 17, 2010 at 09:59 #290771SW shortlisted here also, but lack of experience a major concern, leaving me with:
That’s Rhythm, Merigo & Razor Royale.
All fairly obvious in their own way, good luck all hope someone gets it!!
April 17, 2010 at 10:28 #290777Well I’ve done Halcon Genelardais each-way at 33s. I just think he’s an incredible stupid price given that he’s finished 5th in 2006 (his National debut) and 2nd 2 years ago and running off a mark 19lbs lower than that 2nd place finish. You’ll be kicking yourselves if he wins.
April 17, 2010 at 10:41 #290780This is the big jumping race of the year on ‘my patch’ but I’ve really struggled to make much sense of it this time around.
After much deliberation I knocked it down to a shortlist of four value chances:
PRESENT M’LORD – mainly unconsidered but a consistent stayer who keeps on at the end of his races. Shouldn’t be inconvenienced by the ground.
KILLYGLEN – Struggled mid-season, but he’s better on this ground. His run behind Wogan at Doncaster augured well. Trip might be a question mark but the odds allow for that.
MERIGO – Aimed at the race all season. Supposedly better on softer ground, but he won a Class 2 event on good here in 2008. He won the 2009 Eider, so trip is no problem.
DOM D’ORGEVAL – has to prove himself at the trip but the ground suits and he’s in good form.Rob
April 17, 2010 at 11:35 #290791Gone To Lunch for mise.
April 17, 2010 at 11:36 #290792As much as I tried, I couldn’t get away from Meanus Dandy here. I think the good ground is key to him.
April 17, 2010 at 11:44 #290795Well….. after much betting and deliberation I am on Killyglen,Superior Wisdom,Montero and No Panic.
One of em placed will do!!!April 17, 2010 at 11:56 #290796Oh dear; Superior Wisdom, No Panic, Gidam Gidam, Merigo, Ma Yahab, Chiaro and Auroras Encore. Every time I had a small ew bet another horse would leap out of the paintwork. The omission of a few fences will probably change the complexion of the race as well. As ever, a fascinating race to look forward to.
April 17, 2010 at 14:13 #290806Gone to Lunch at 16s, Theatrical Moment at 12s, Auroras Encore at 25s – all to win. Gidam Gidam at 40s and Ma Yahab at 50s e/w (1st 5 places)
Fingers crossed, ’cause my start on the Flat has been pants, thus far.
