April 12, 2025 at 15:52 #1727106Ta all.
April 12, 2025 at 15:52 #1727107Well done Mike
April 12, 2025 at 15:57 #1727109WD winners, but it wasn’t pleasant to watch.
April 12, 2025 at 15:58 #1727110Well done Mike I think he won that cosily very cool by Cobden.
The more I know the less I understand.
April 12, 2025 at 15:59 #1727111The ground does appear to be a danger to the animals today.
April 12, 2025 at 16:09 #1727112I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many fallers in the Scottish National.
April 12, 2025 at 16:18 #1727116RTV have just confirmed that both MacDermott and The Kniphand were fatally injured.
April 12, 2025 at 16:36 #1727125Sad and brutal race both horses were going so well.
Another sad Saturday.😪Captain Cody and Klarc Kent both ran well and good choice of the winner from Mike
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 12, 2025 at 17:01 #1727130Walking On Air pulled up very lame and a jockey taken away in an ambulance. Don’t think we’ve heard the last about this race today particularly following on so soon after last week events.
Was that watered ground even safe today?
April 12, 2025 at 17:31 #1727134Loughglynn also PU quickly lame behind in the novices’ chase.
I saw MacDermott pull up but sort of assumed he was more or less OK as weight bearing, and didn’t realise the Kniphand’s fall was as bad. Not a good day.April 12, 2025 at 17:41 #1727137MacDermott fell through a railing after pulling up.
April 12, 2025 at 18:53 #1727140Macdermott was clearly suffering a heart attack.
April 12, 2025 at 19:01 #1727143I was out and about and could only watch the race on my phone. Looked like an ice cool ride from Cobden. Also a giant stride towards a second consecutive Trainers Championship for Mullins.
A shame about the fatalities. One or two of the national papers have picked it up (and the BBC, of course) but no screeching headlines. The Scottish National doesn’t generate as many clicks and the perpetually outraged mob are probably getting angry about something else today.
April 12, 2025 at 19:56 #1727149Headline news on Mail Online, this eve:
Campaign group Animal Rising said the event was ‘nothing short of carnage’.
