"Look out for a knee jerk appointment"
I wonder what the likelihood is that they’ll invite Sam back again?
Extremely unlikely I’m sure, but then not many would have predicted Mourinho as the first Premiership manager to get the chop this season.
I’d have a flutter on Sam at. oh? 2000/1.January 12, 2008 at 19:11 #134835I think they’d better get a move on – whoever they choose as their next manager, as a 6-0 thrashing at Old Trafford won’t please the Toon army.

January 12, 2008 at 19:41 #134840Shearer doesn’t want the job, he just doesn’t want anyone else to have the job. He enjoys the influence he can wield because people think he wants it. He was far too selfish a player to be any good as a manager and as far as I am aware he has no coaching qualifications whatsoever. One of these days, they will call his bluff, he will make an almighty pigs ear of it and get the boot and that will at least be the end of that.
And it would get him off the telly for a bit, which would be a bonus.
Meanwhile, Wolves were tanked 3-0 at home today, the neanderthal locals are restless, Mick McCarthy is glummer than ever, the new owner is getting twitchy and Big Sam, remember, comes from Dudley. And his lump it and hope style would fit nicely with the Dingles’ proud legacy of ugly football.
January 15, 2008 at 19:22 #135460The BF market is a dream come true for the layers on the ‘Next Newcastle manager ‘ market. So far Redknapp has traded at 1.18 and the following four managers have traded at lower than 2.62 – Hughes, Deschamps, Shearer and Houllier.I wonder who will be next to be backed ? Perhaps Louis van Gaal ( now at 25/1 )………..whoever he is
