I reckon an 8-4 or 9-3 mauling in the singles, leading to a record defeat under the bumbling Harrington.

September 26, 2021 at 14:42 #1561602I hope the singles are a 6 all draw or at worst 7-5 to the yanks for my correct score bets LOL
September 27, 2021 at 00:58 #1561629Home advantage, no visiting support, so many Europeans out of form; the US were absolute certs, and even at 4/7 were a value bet.
September 27, 2021 at 06:38 #1561636At least the margin of victory was not as much as Ireland over Britain at Cheltenham!

At one stage, with so much red on the board, I thought it might be almost as much!
Pleased for Stricker and it obviously meant a lot to him. However, I have always thought winning captains get too much praise and losing captains too much criticism.
Stricker had a stronger, younger team which played better and had a home advantage accentuated by the circumstances.
Feel a bit sorry for Harrington as Europe were always up against it. Some of his decisions can be queried but they did not make five points worth of difference.
However, I agree with Laura Davies’s comments last night. When Europe were 6-2 down after Friday, they really needed to gamble and throw everything at the Saturday foursomes. Instead, they mostly stuck with partnerships which had already lost and had players like Lowry and Fleetwood sitting on the sidelines. By the time Lowry brought a bit of energy to the team, it was 9-3 and already a lost cause.
