As I indicated to CAS previously this race seemed to be ripe for a speculative bet (such as Impaire et Passe) and that seems even more the case! I see Panic Attack is still available at 25-1. I haven’t read any indication of which if any Festival race she might be aimed at (I suppose the Mares chase or the Ultima might be targets) but she has at least been entered for this. If it does fall apart she at least has winning Cheltenham form and is obviously improving. WH offer her at 12-1 NRNB for the faint hearted.

I put up IMPAIRE ET PASSE a while back at 20/1 having bet him at this price. I think there was even 25s available (but not to me). I highlighted him as value and still think he is at his current price of 12/1. He’s been given a positive update by connections in recent days and with the ever likely deferral of FTF I think people speculating about Gaelic running here, are perhaps looking past a ready made Mullins replacement in IMPAIRE ET PASSE.

Nice win for Jonbon today but I can’t see him running here despite the entry and press, I can see him going to Aintree again

Jonbon is quite the contrary to rest of Hendos string though, he just turns up everytime. He’s had 4 hellish hard races this year but i do think they’ll chance the Ryanair, especially with ftf and majborough seemingly headed to the championship races.

I’d still give him a chance and would be certain he’d be placed (2nd more than likely)

Can’t work out why they dodge Cheltenham with Impaire Et Passe, was an excellent winner of the 2023 Baring Bingham. Admittedly this is his first proper year with the Ryanair option.

Just wonder whether Cheltenham is Handstands’ course. Seems to be 2/6 left-handed and 4/6 right-handed, and was pretty dismal in the 2024 Baring Bingham. Came into the season thinking Pauling should make him his no.1 King George horse, can see how well that worked out!

Think Gaelic Warrior runs and wins.

With very little rain forecast, Banbridge @ 7/1 nrnb looks a steal

Can see 8 or 9 out of first 10 in the betting skipping this race. Should be some EW value.

Jonbon out , Fact to File in this I reckon , confidence must be in last year’s GC winner to do biz again . A long line but Iam getting on the repeat win in Gold Cup now .

Have to be onest and say that I think Hendo would be making the right decision with Jonbon if he does miss Cheltenham – he has had two hard races on soft ground and missing Cheltenham altogether will stand him in good stead for Aintree.

Hopefully they do try 3m as I think he has been ready for that kind of trip for a year or so now and the likely opposition at Aintree (over 3m) will not be as fresh going into the race if coming on from Cheltenham.

With the ground drying out at Cheltenham you would think that FTF should really be given the chance at the Gold Cup over the Ryanair (even though I still have reservations about him seeing out the extra 2F – especially if the go hard from the start).
