I reckon there’s a trip in Fix The Rib, DJ, but would agree that his running style suggests he might be best suited to 2m.
Really love the way that FTR goes about his business – bold-jumping, front-running types are a real joy to watch over the minimum trip.
November 26, 2009 at 18:57 #260636Might back Barbers Shop before the Hennessy
He and Chapoturgeon are the 2 I want on my side
November 27, 2009 at 09:38 #260709No Master Medic entry in the Boylsports Gold Cup, DJ.
November 27, 2009 at 11:36 #260721Better have some more on for the King George then!!
November 27, 2009 at 11:41 #260724November 27, 2009 at 16:33 #260809Looking at the programme book in a bit more depth. If they are going to run him around that sort of time rather than the King George, the Silver Trophy back at his beloved Ascot is an option, but that’s a 3m Handicap and he’s now up to 156 and if he could win a race like that off that weight, then he is fully entitled to be placed in a King George.
If they plan to run him again pre-Christmas, the Peterbrough Chase would be heavy odds on I’d guess as a course and distance winner already.
November 28, 2009 at 15:08 #260975I believe IC’s connections were preparing for the Gold Cup, maybe not now!! Just took the 11 for Barbers for this race, with IC already backed at 12.
Hopefully they both go for this now, that was simply outstanding from a total legend in the Hennessy.
December 4, 2009 at 22:27 #262138As expected Master Medic has been given an entry in the Peterborough Chase. Looks potentially a strong race at the 6-day stage and if he were capable of winning would certainly be at the level that would give him a chance in the Ryanair.

Has been cut from 120 to 40 on the machine,i hope you have taken some,as tricky a race as it is,you can still lay off should he progress like you think!
December 13, 2009 at 12:38 #263661If there is a threat to Imperial Commander it’s most likely to come from the forgotten horse Calgary Bay if indeed he’s still in one piece.
Couldn"t agree more Fist,i had a thought of Calgary bay lining up in something like the Paddy Power and thinking i wouldn"t go past him!He certainly looks the part!
Fisty i bet you didn"t stay loyal did you? How many times has your King told you?

Never knew the fooker was running until I turned on the radio…….he was jumping the last at the time…….AP should be back on the phone at anytime
December 16, 2009 at 21:10 #264167My only Ante-Post bet for this race is Forpadydeplasterer at 25/1 up to now and it seems i am the only one who thinks he"s tailormade for it! Connections seem to be favouring the Champion Chase route.I also like Chapoturgeon,he is an improving sort who proved his official mark is bang on at Cheltenham last week! The horse i have backed today at 20/1 is Massinis Maguire,he struggles to get 3m and this 2m5f over a course he likes (07 Ballymore winner)looks like his target for the season,he is due to run over the trip at Ascot on Saturday on his seasonal debut!
December 19, 2009 at 21:51 #264592My tip is Tranquil Sea to win this race suprised has not had a lot of mentions for this race.
December 22, 2009 at 16:20 #264951"Long Run appears to have speed but he stays three miles – or he did in France anyway," Henderson told At The Races.
"Whether he wants all of three miles round somewhere like Cheltenham is a different matter and it’s slightly the same as with Punchestowns[/color:3bxozft7].
"I know he was running in those staying hurdles last year, but I don’t think he desperately needs three miles and two and a half is perfect for him.
"You could see one of them switching to the Ryanair Chase[/color:3bxozft7]. You never know and we just want to find out a little bit more about them, especially Long Run.

I think that could be down to the way he lost his form last season and punters are afraid of a repeat but his chance is very obvious as is IC if he doesn’t go for the Gold Cup.
The thing about the Ryanair is it’s not a race to be backing in too early as too many trainers switch horses from elsewhere or don’t know until later in the season if their horses want the trip.
I like Barker but have no idea if he’ll end up here. Calgary Bay was a big fancy for the Arkle but Hen reckons he needed further and could end up running and Petite Robin I am told is to be tried over 2m4f soon. I’m sure there will be others queing up now that IC does look like he will go for the Gold Cup it’s a very open race.
December 22, 2009 at 21:38 #265000Poquelin looks the most solid option at this stage but do you really want to get too involved at best priced 6/1. I think I got 9/1 Imperial Commander reasonably close to the race last year.
December 26, 2009 at 20:55 #265704I am very sure Tranquil Sea will win tomorrow and in this race as well next year.
