Cobden said: “He was very good there. I must admit I had a bit of a ground worry when I walked it this morning. He is maturing and getting better and is probably turning into quite a smart horse. He just missed the fourth last but apart from that he was foot perfect the whole way around.

“I suppose he would have to go to Ascot next and have a crack at that. I’m not sure the Ryanair would be his gig. He is a very good Grade Two horse that is five or six pounds short of being a Grade One horse but when he jumps around here and tracks like this I can get him into a nice rhythm in front.

“Those good races at Cheltenham and Aintree you are going half a stride quicker than you want to and it is hard to dominate those races but he is definitely improving and it wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up in one of those races later on in the season.

    Nice one Jack.

That fits in with my own opinion of him as well. He does seem to be a late bloomer but and the trip is almost custom made for him.

I come back to looking elsewhere in the betting for a horse that’s definitely going to turn up in this. I’m desperate to find something but it’s not certain this lad is the one either.

He probably is half a stone shy of top class but so is the rest of the field quoted at the minute. I’m more and more certain by the day taking Allaho on is the right strategy.

I mean they always have said Allaho improves for a run, so there’s no doubt he’s more vulnerable that he would normally be, but then again, not many trainers are as good at getting a horse ready as WPM. He’s already mentioned about taking him to a racecourse gallop or two.

I guess the enigma that is Fury Road could be the one to be smothered into the race to finish for a place if Allaho goes out and makes all like they’ll likely try.

Allaho comes with risks attached this year.

It’s not like Flat racing where home gallops can tell you a lot – you don’t know how much ability a 2m plus chaser really retains until it has a race.

Other connections shouldn’t duck Allaho this year imo.

Hmmm a 90% Allaho would prob win this but I can’t get out of my mind a too fresh Douvan going off to fast in the Champion without a prep and falling , prob is without Conflated im struggling for a e.w play

    Can Allaho win this?

Of course he can – he’s hosed up the last two years and he’s still only a 9yo.

But can the assumption be made that he will only run if he’s up to the task?

    Absolutely not IMO.

What else are they going to do with a 9yo gelding?

NH horses don’t work over the full race distance at home – they seldom even do that on the Flat – and they won’t have had a “race” over obstacles.

The most they will know is if the horse is working as well as in the previous two years – they will only really find out the same way we will, when he’s racing over that 2m5f.

He’s a very short price given the fact he’s not run the best part of a year and I’m not big in horses being so superior they can win “90% fit.”

If they blow out, they tend to blow out.

You can find safer 6/5 favourites any day of any week.

If he drifts to 2/1, you might be interested – but you might also want to ask yourself why he’s drifting!

Absolutely no idea on his wellbeing, but he’s been kept in, so I’ve bet Janidil.

Absolutely no match for Allaho in this last year, where he was runner up. Season didn’t end well either with a crunching fall at Fairyhouse, followed by a poor offering in The Punchestown Gold Cup.

Like Allaho, not seen since, but I’m taking some encouragement that he’s not been scratched, and if Mullins can get him back then, jumping issues aside, he should have serious place possibilities.

I’d definitely bet him on the day if he did turn up, so with NRNB swaying me, it seems sensible to bet him now.

Yep, confirmed by Willie Mullins in last 30 mins.
Betting market seems suspended at mo, looking at my bet365 account.
I’m already on Fury Road at 20s NRNB, so with Allaho out, the market will be thrown wide open i reck.

I’d say that Fury Road price is nice.

Hard to get excited about anything in there.

Opens the race up now – best wishes to Allaho for a full recovery as it sounds like a nasty and unusual thing to have happened.

Won’t Blue Lord be QMCC bound though?
