There’s now a fire at a nuclear power plant and they can’t put it out because the Russian army are still firing at it….
March 4, 2022 at 08:23 #1585668Proves beyond doubt that he will use first strike nuclear weapons
He hasn’t gone mad. He’s always been this way.
Hasn’t he farage trumo corbyn ?
Those apologists (and others) were cheerleading him whilst he was planning this and worse across Europe.
The tactic now is to destroy the city of Kyiv like Aleppo. It’s certain that he will use chemical weapons too
March 4, 2022 at 09:23 #1585674I’d love to embrace the western media narrative that it’s going badly for Russia.
But they still have the distinct edge of overwhelming force.
80% of their armed forces could desert and they’d still have the bigger, better-equipped army.

March 4, 2022 at 10:14 #1585680Oh Ian, Western media are not saying Ukraine will win this war.
However, western media are right it is going comparatively badly for Russia. ie Going much worse than Russia hoped before this conflict started.
Value Is EverythingMarch 4, 2022 at 10:30 #1585682Correct Clive.
Russia will never be able to occupy Ukraine without guerrilla warfare hitting them.
I would think Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine would be a good hide out zone for Ukrainian freedom fighters even after “Ukraine” has fallen.
So Russia will need at some point to come to an agreement with Ukraine.Suspect Russia will want to keep the Dombass region (which I believe has around 33% of Ukraine’s wealth) which along with Crimea leaves Ukraine without any Black Sea port… And without Ukraine being in NATO or the EU.
Value Is EverythingMarch 4, 2022 at 11:12 #1585686True ginger and the other aspect that is often overlooked is that the geurilla warfare will be armed with state of the art equipment from all western nations. Not some rusty old howitzer from Iran
There’s a very nice video on twitter of four Russian helicopters prowling about a mile away in a line. Some Ukrainian soldier with one of those rocket things on the shoulder fires off and blows the first to smithereeens (no body bag for those Russian soldiers. A match box wil do). Then he takes the third one out but can you imagine what those in the second and last were thinking? The equipment is there
March 4, 2022 at 12:47 #1585691I’m not trying to upset the apple cart of peace that has broken out in TRF, but once Russia has taken control of Ukraine and a new Government I’d put in place, I’m not so sure about a Ukraine Resistance Force. 1 million have already left the country and even with guerilla tactics you are never going to remove the Russians now thT they all but have control of Ukraine 🇺🇦. I don’t know if there will be the appetite for more war although I’d expect several to make their whole purpose in life to kill Putin. He’s a marked man.
I don’t see the west arming guerilla groups. They did next to nothing for the Ukrainians except having standing ovations as if thT made them on the same side. They left them to have their country stolen by Russia. Yes they were nice gestures but nice gestures didn’t help the Ukrainians one bit. They would bottle out to arm Ukranian guerillas/freedom fighters if The Ukraine were in Russian hands.
This is a disaster.
March 4, 2022 at 12:54 #1585692Apologies for typos and mistakes, I’m using my phone as my laptop died, or rather I killed it by falling back on it butt first when it was sitting open on my chair. I’m burying it today
March 4, 2022 at 14:06 #1585696I hope I’m wrong, but my worry is that Ukraine simply cannot win here, the West won’t actually join the fight and all these empty gestures are doing is delaying the inevitable with the net result that yet more Ukrainians will die.

Putin might go into a NATO country, disputing its right to be in NATO, he might go into another country thinking of joining NATO.
But I reckon Western leaders have discussed whether or not it’s time for pre-emptive action, based on the growing notion WWIII has already started, and Putin must know he’s already close now to unleashing the full wrath of the West.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"March 4, 2022 at 15:42 #1585711I agree Ian. If I’m honest I don’t think it’s right that men of what’s regarded as a fighting age are not being allowed to leave the country. They will hopefully need men to rebuild the country one day but it will be like the aftermath of WWI. Just because you’re of a certain age doesn’t mean you’re suitable to be a fighter. I can’t quite get my head round what is happening; it’s surreal. We’re moving back up north for a while but I’d rather be close to my kids. I remember everyone laughing at me after Chernobyl because I wouldn’t let my children drink the milk at play school and then a few weeks later a politician announced that it was ‘now safe to drink milk’ and I though, ‘see, I was right’. Might just stock up on some UHT now, just to be on the safe side.
March 4, 2022 at 17:00 #1585721Scaremongering isn’t going to help anyone.
The West / NATO itself will NOT fight Russia unless a NATO country is targeted – as doing so would cause WWIIII.
NATO can give weaponry to any country, if necessary training that country’s troops for that country to use themselves. NOT for NATO troops to use inside a non-NATO country.
For that reason NATO can NOT impose a no-fly zone by using NATO fighters.
However, would it be possible for Ukrainian pilots to go to a NATO country in order to learn how to fly NATO planes and then fly those planes themselves into Ukraine; to impose a no-fly zone themselves?Value Is EverythingMarch 4, 2022 at 17:18 #1585724The nuclear plant “hit” is a much newer and safer plant than Chernobyl, Moe.

Terribly sad bigG, I lost a top in a similar type of accident back in 2014. It was called Packard and it was slim and slight off build, and as it fell off the rickety kitchen table onto the hard floor, it never regained consciousness.

Look at what happened in Afghanistan, BigG. Russia left after they could not cope with a guerrilla war… And as Clive rightly says, Ukrainian guerrillas will have the very best weapons.
1 million may sound a large number of people fleeing, but Ukraine is a country of over 43 million and men of fighting age are not the ones leaving.
