Anyway. Im off for w while now. Too busy for this

And no time for those who make sneering statements but wont back them up…

Although it makes me laugh when apologists are stating that Putin has only just
“gone mad” when he has been using chemical weapons on civilians for years. Yes really…

    Leave the tankies with this

    Thanks ben

Could be happier In truth right across life

I just say things with a bit of force. If some don’t like it then cest la vie

Same stuff was probably said about ricky lake I bet and he’s the most easy going gem of a guy you could hope to meet

Actually my problem with Ricky was when you posted a different point of view to his, he’ll say that your trolling and then repeat his point of view in an attempt to cover yours up. A cyberbully in every sense of the word.

I agree Rummy, he was a nasty piece of work, cynical and offensive.

Quickly became very unpleasant when he didn’t get his own way and you’d have to wonder about anyone who was an advocate for him.

None of us is obliged to respond to anyone here, and those who lack courtesy are those least entitled to a reply.

You haven’t “lost” by declining to respond, not least because no reply IS a reply.

My imaginary headline – ‘Putin runs for hills after Peterborough United confirm they stand with the Ukraine’.

Ha, very good Gladiateur! Would love to see Barry Fry in a live debate with Vlad the Impaler mind! Putin wouldn’t get a word in edgeways.

Fair post and apologies if I was too hard but the point was those who sneered at public displays of support for Ukraine

Apart from that being distasteful, protests will one way or another get back to the Russian people and no one can claim that it won’t have some effect. As I said, no one wants to be hated and it’s worldwide.

What has been remarkable is how unified it is. Even today it’s being reported that the likes of Cuba and Venezuela are edging away from support.

Russian morale is surely very low?

As for ricky, I’ve actually met him a few times (a fair way in the past) and take as I find

I didn’t agree with a lot of his views and frankly im not bothered if people have a problem with me saying that I found him to be a garrulous but really nice bloke

Blimey this discussion has moved on while I got on with my life (if you can call it a “life”..)

That Putin is ignoring international law is hardly an excuse for the UK to follow suit. Putin will use examples of where this has happened and it would be unwise (and unethical) to give him more recent examples.

As one of the much despised “left”, “woke”, “window licker”, or whatever the current term of abuse is, I stand by my criticism of Truss. That she is now our Foreign Secretary shows how far this country has fallen and I am saddened. I often (well “usually” if I’m honest) disagreed with Conservatives but also had respect for them as generally intelligent and decent people. I can’t say that about Johnson’s cabinet. The party has changed. Many of my friends and former colleagues have to brief ministers. Nobody expects these people to have a detailed knowledge of their area of responsibility but (with very few notable exceptions) the current cabinet are totally unable to understand the issues even when presented in the simplest of terms. I find this genuinely frightening. Johnson assembled a cabinet based on blind loyalty and people who would make him look less incompetent than he is. That he’s been faced with events that would have challenged even the most adept PM isn’t his fault but the fact that we face these with the worst PM ever elected in charge is something the Conservative Party ought to be dealing with, for the good of the nation. Sadly, most of the decent & intelligent have been purged or are too scared to speak out.

I don’t like truss but claiming that she solely triggered Putins ludicrous comments is just absurd. Even Labour has ignored that rubbish

But because people don’t like her they swallow it whole. And yes that’s stupid

    That was the point

These videos are from the last half hour, absolute madness, someone needs to get Putin the green herb asap, it might be our only hope.

“But because people don’t like her [Truss] they swallow it whole”.

Literally nobody that isn’t insane “swallows” this. However, the fact that she was targeted by name indicates that the UK Foreign Secretary is not only seen as a figure who has uttered idiocies which can be used by Russia but also someone who can be triggered by such accusations. Luckily the latter hasn’t happened as Putin hoped but I am sure this is down to local embassy staff rather than any Westminster influence.

Johnson is an incompetent liar, but he has conducted himself well during this crisis. Liz Truss is just embarrassing, gave the Kremlin the excuse they wanted to ratchet up the tension.

Stupidity goes right across the political divide. The quality of our elected representatives today is about as poor as I can remember. Plenty of them have a talent for self promotion but little else.

Some even struggle with basic literacy and numeracy, as the recent story about half of them being unable to say the probability of a coin tossed twice landing heads up both times demonstrated.

On the “Daily Politics” today, Diane Abbott seemed to be under the impression that Russia had invaded Croatia. I suppose we should be charitable and put it down as a slip of the tongue…

Apologies accepted Clive and water under the bridge, we’re all hoping for
the same thing. When I spoke about Liz Trust, that was even before Putin
mentioned her, and I doubt anyone in here truly thinks he put the country
on full nueclear alert because of her unwise (being kind to her) comments.

It’s kind of bizzare that China could be the one who makes Putin consider
how far he is going. China’s Foreign Minister has spoken with his Ukranian
counterpart. If they can get a dialogue going and China (who did abstain
on a Un Security Council Vote rather than pitch in with Russia) they might
have more chance than the west of getting this to end without more bloodshed.
That’s hopefully, but whether Putin can be made to listen, that’s another matter,

Just a little on your mate Ricky as you mentioned a different side of him,
and I’m not having a go at either of you.

I had the occassion to talk with one of the worst psychopaths that Scotland
has ever produced. I won’t mention him by name but I’d imagine most in Scotland,
certainly 100% in Glasgow and some down south too would know him. He was clever
very amiable, witty and the type of bloke you’d happily spend some time with down
the pub, that is if you didn’t know he was a callous very bloody sadistic maniac.

Just in case you think I’m calling your mate the same, I’m not, I’m just making
the point that some people can behave perfectly normally, perhaps even endearingly
when in circumstances where they feel comfortable and don’t feel threatened. I’ve
met a few Jekyll and Hide characters in my time, probably we all have.
