January 16, 2007 at 22:33 #35853
What do the Irish lads think about Hear The Echo? Don’t think he’ll ever be a world-beater but should win some nice races in time…..
January 16, 2007 at 22:55 #35854Just looked at the card, might be a tough ask for Don’t Push It. The king horse could be anything and will go on the ground and as you say, ew, is getting lumps of weight.
Not really sure about opera mundi……… didnt see the race it won last time, but obviously well thought of.
Wont have a bet in the race, but will be an interesting one.
Don’t know if anyone is interested but ive just recieved a text telling me to back Henry Daly’s in the bumper ‘Lit Up’……….. to my knowledge this person who text me has nothing to do with the yard but he isn’t usually that far off the mark………. dunno what to do because i quite liked the look of Llewelyin’s in the race.

January 16, 2007 at 23:36 #35855I’ve backed Don’t Push it @ 3.06 (ave), but only to minimum stakes due to the weight allowance
I’ve got Don’t Push It 1lb ahead of the Nichols horse on my adjusted ratings, King horse 9lb behind Don’t Push It and Only Vintage 10lb behind

Trackside
Surely they’re running the horse here in the hope of teaching him to settle?
Good horse as he is, the Arkle would hardly be his ideal circumstances!
January 17, 2007 at 05:06 #35857Having looked over this thread and checking the runners and betting its got to be Ungaro for me in the RSA Chase. My Way De Solzen is my idea of the winner but with doubts over its participation I’m not going to risk an antepost bet on it and will back it on the day if it turns up.
Looking at the Don’t Push It race today and I can’t see it winning. The trip looks inadequate though the ground I feel will help, however to give away lumps of weight is a tough ask and I think it will get going too late. I would be amazed if they went anywhere but the RSA Chase, at which I give it an ooutside chance (not as much as the betting gives it).
January 17, 2007 at 09:01 #35858I’d like to see Ungaro over fences again before I part with any case on him. Although he was visuaklly very impressive. I think he had the race set up for him. He was about the only one that put in a fluent round of jumping and Yes Sir and Knowwhere went such a pace that it set it up for the closers. Can Ungaro run to a similar level in a race which isn’t run so much to suit him. I’m not saying he can’t, just than I wouldn’t back him until he’s shown he can.

I see what your saying, DJ. I backed him at 23 on the exchanges, i just thought that was a fair price. As you say, he may not be as good when things don’t go his way, but he is sure to get the strong pace again in the RSA and his jumping is sure to stand him in good stead too.
Who do you reckon will ride him in the RSA?
January 17, 2007 at 13:07 #35860No idea to be honest. Bit if you’ve backed it, I’d be crossing everything in the hope that it isnt J. Reveley(7).
January 17, 2007 at 14:29 #35861No don’t push it today. Opera mundi won reasonably comfortablly although Private Be ran well indefeat I thought and should pick up a novice especially as this was his first run over fences.
I like Ungaro. You’d hope Mick Fitz would be on board…
January 17, 2007 at 15:22 #35862I don’t know if Fitzy will be needed to ride anything else. He did give it a good ride at Kempton but he isn’t my FAV jock by any means, he rides everything as if he is sat on Shergar and looks a complete fool when whatever he is on finds nothing for pressure.
January 17, 2007 at 16:08 #35863Mmm I think this horse needs to be brought into the race slowly and for me he’s one of the best at doing that.. Ideally you’d want Ruby on board but thats never going to happen..
Mick Fitz is still a very good jock in my opinion… My only concern with Ungaro is he seems better going right handed
January 17, 2007 at 18:55 #35864Just read Denman runs on Aon Chase day, will be interesting to see what lines up against him
