Champ will win.
By the way Allaho being aimed here as well, so looking a decent race.
I didn’t think Minella Indo was that great on last run tbh.
February 20, 2020 at 12:21 #1483358Allaho is far from decided at going here. WPM has stated he’s waiting to see how keen he is in his final bits of work and will decide as if he’s keen he’s going Marsh.
February 20, 2020 at 18:50 #1483407There seems a reasonable chance that battleoverdoyen wont run and champagne classic may come here judging by elliots comments in his stable tour
I really hope not as champagne classic looks tailored for the NHC
March 10, 2020 at 20:05 #1485329Do we know if robbie power chose to ride slate house over copperhead or if it was always the plan for cobden to ride copperhead?
March 10, 2020 at 21:25 #1485346The Tizzards don’t really have a stable jockey, prefering to match each horse to a particular jockey or an owner’s preference or one they have a rapour with. Johnson has his, Power his, Cobden his etc. Cobden successful for the yard on Kilbricken Storm in the Albert Bartlett a couple of years ago.
Harry has ridden Copperhead in 6 of his races to date (by far the most often used on Copperhead), FF; Robbie only 3. Harry being successful on his last 3 rides on the horse, including the Mandarin Handicap at Newbury where he jumped particularly well – ie striking up a good partnership with Copperhead.
Although Cobden was Slate House’s main jockey in his early races, Robbie has ridden Slate House in 4 of his last 5 races. Cobden in the saddle for the other race, an odds on novice victory. Robbie successful both his completed starts and may well have won the BetVictor Gold Cup too but for tipping up. ie striking up a good partnership with Slate House.
So probability is they were always going to ride these horses.
Value Is EverythingMarch 10, 2020 at 21:44 #1485350Knew I’d heard it somewhere so did a little digging on the 2 preview shows I watched in the last 2 days
David Jennings says in the RP preview he did a preview night with robbie power and asked him about copperhead and power said him and slate house had worked together and slate house worked better so he was riding him
I’m a big fan of minella indo and am hoping he will take a significant step forward from last time, much like he did at the festival last year, and he will likely be my bet to compliment the 33s I have on battleoverdoyen
Will see what prices are about in the morning
March 11, 2020 at 12:54 #1485461Copperhead has been so good this season and looks really genuine. I like to look at the Reynoldstown with a view to this and 6/1 represents big value. I’m on him at lower prices, so will top up accordingly. He’s propping up most of my accas with Defi Du Seuil, so I have everything crossed after drawing a blank yesterday!
March 11, 2020 at 13:12 #1485465I’ve stated prev Battleoverdoyen is my bet of the meeting , I’ve backed him up with copperhead this morning , it’s really wide open …champ seems friendless to
March 11, 2020 at 13:21 #1485472If (Big IF) Power had the choice between Copperhead and Slate House and went for the latter just because it went better at home… then he’s a poor judge. Although stays 3m Slate house has form/effective over 2m4f. Where as Copperhead’s minimum is 3m and will stay and stay and stay all day. ie Obvious Slate House should be going a lot better than Copperhead at home. Over 3 miles 80 yards on a stiff undulating track off a probable strong pace (stamina!)… Copperhead has a bigger chance than Slate House going in to the race.
Value Is EverythingMarch 11, 2020 at 14:01 #1485487Aye Right out to 100s. Note to self: wait for the big day!
March 11, 2020 at 14:06 #1485488Champ 8-1 ew & Battleoverdoyen 25-1 ew is what I’m left with. Looks open. Minella Indo is my lay of the week watch him romp home now haha.
March 11, 2020 at 14:17 #1485491Get in!
March 11, 2020 at 14:18 #1485492What a finish!
March 11, 2020 at 14:20 #1485493Wow! I had almost torn up my ticket!
March 11, 2020 at 14:20 #1485494Incredible finish. Very well done to those who kept the faith. Some horse.
March 11, 2020 at 14:24 #1485495He can’t bloody jump but has a serious engine ..I wouldn’t touch him for next year’s GC
March 11, 2020 at 14:25 #1485496What a race! What a finish!! Up hill on that ground…he looked like he’d just joined in. Well done everyone on him especially those who were following him all year. WD Allaho and Minella Indo and the others acquitted themselves decently too, there was nothing that didn’t deserve to be there, I even got a good run for my Aye Right bet.
