Well, somebodys got to start a thread in this section……. :D

Along with The Wokingham, it’s my favourite race of the meeting. A tough race to crack, but I’m going to take a chance that it comes up fast enough for Santefisio from the Keith Dalgleish yard. Rarely gets his head in front, but long been of the opinion that he’s got a very decent prize in him should he get his conditions, and at 50’s more than happy to take a chance.

Going back 2 years, and Prince of Johanne, just pipped Excellent Guest in this, a 1-2 that made me quite happy. With Prince of Johanne, just 1lb above that mark, and Excellent Guest running of 94 again, you can be sure they’ll be trained with this race in mind once again.

Excellent Gust has been a bit disappointing lately, but wouldn’t be the first time he’s suddenly bounced back here, and he’s a dangerous horse to dismiss. Prince of Johanne ran a blinder last time, and he’s given a serious chance.

Both of them available at 33’s, and even at this stage, I’m struggling not to bet them.

I’m also hoping for good fast ground VtC.
They took a chance on Premio Loco last year pricing him up at 40/1 and he came so close to pulling it off. They have gone the same price this time around and granted the going is in his favour I wouldn’t be ruling him out, am waiting for betfair prices will stick something on there shortly, what do you reckon VtC try 200’s?. They have been patient with him so far this term so hopefully they will unleash him here and he goes well fresh. Yes he is old but so too is Penitent and he beat off the young un’s Saturday.

Don’t talk to me about Penitent Nathan, 33’s :( :D

I haven’t forgot that run last year for Premio Loco, so unlucky, and some price too. You’ll certainly have a good chance at getting a price again. No harm in asking for the 200’s, you never know, though if it was me I’d pitch in just now at the low 100’s and take it from there. Though no harm with a couple of quid put up at 200’s either.

He’s certainly one to be wary of, and put my 3 firmly in their place last year. Best of luck 8)

There’s only one horse for me in this Bob and its

    Chil the Kite

, a year ago I’m putting him up on this very forum for the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at 40/1 and he went off a well backed 16/1 shot,he ran his race but he’s not a Grade 1 horse. This however is a handicap and even off top weight he’s different class, the big field will give him the cover he needs and his style of racing will allow him to come through on the bridle, his telling turn of foot will put the race to bed and TAPK will be going to Florida with the proceeds of 20/1 vouchers. 8)

at 20/1 is the most intrigueing entry for sure!

Still can’t believe how Penitent won on Saturday and I had backed him every race..except that one :( and another old battler came close on same day also 33/1 Apostle for David Simcock. I’ll have to keep looking out for Mia’s Boy to do the same now although he may be retired soon. :D Jac

Will be looking at the RHC this week so back with some thoughts nearer the time. Keep sorting them out you three. We should all be millionaires after Royal Ascot.. Jac

I keep getting drawn to Bronze Angel at this stage. This horse is definately on a good mark and their was a lot of confidence behind it at Newbury last time.

I have been at a bit of a loss to get my head around the Newbury race, only conclusion I can come to is Hayley made too much use of the horse last time sat on a strong pace.

It travelled so well and showed good speed throughout the race, it has also run well in big Ascot handicap in the past.

Mark of 94 looks very interesting for the Hunt Cup. Ridden more patiently last time, I think it would have still come second to the great turn of foot Chil the Kite showed. 9lb between them that day and the margin was flattering to Chil the Kite given how Bronze Angel was ridden. There will be 15lb between them at Ascot and I think Bronze Angel will run a big race.

Some trends that I have found which may help find the winner…

All of the last 20 winners were aged 4yo-6yo.

All of the last 9 winners were rated 93-102.

17 of the last 20 winners were

    not

drawn in stalls 7-22, i.e. 17 of the 20 were drawn either 1-6 or 23-33.

    Good luck !

Really want Yeager to sneak into this. Unlikely being third reserve, but I think it will run a huge race if he can get in.

Not a race I had much confidence in, Abseil was far too short and I ended up with a token win bet on Belgian Bill at 20/1. He was well backed but never looked like winning, although he did finish in front of the ridiculous priced favourite.

7/2 in a 28 runner handicap? A few punters need to get themselves tested for insanity.

It was interesting to see Steeler running and acquitting himself well over a mile, after he was touted as a Derby type and even potentially St Leger horse after a weakening third behind Kingsbarns in the Racing Post Trophy.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
