Always like a decent try in this. but record is patchy, and that’s being kind.
Shan Blue, if in the right frame of mind, surely wins this, or at least goes very close, given the strength of the opposition. As good a renewal as I can remember of this.
I’m going with an outsider though in Top Ville Ben as the EW option. Hard to see him winning, but hoping for a run for my money.
Was looking at adding Windsor Avenue, but the more I’ve been looking at Aye Right, the more I think he could be massively overpriced, if his abysmal run in The Rehearsal was merely a blip. Swaying towards him of that pair, but still to make up my mind
Aye Right
Top Ville BenBoth EW 5pls

December 26, 2022 at 04:27 #1628141Disappointed no LIT , Shah blue if back should win but Fanion was in front of him in the Ryanair , he should be a play but then if look back Kalashnikov was in front of him the prev year in the Ryanair , he will prob need the run but maybe to big , Chantry has a question mark so I’ll leave his 7s , Aye right is to big , not sure what happened in the rehearsal but I’ve got to play the 25s , I’ll follow the money with Shah blue for the win
Shah blue

December 26, 2022 at 05:46 #1628143Into Overdrive ew 4 places
December 26, 2022 at 06:28 #1628144Some very interesting runners here. Shan Blue could demolish the field here, but he is already a short price. I hope Into Overdrive can improve again. He won several races and then bumped into L’Homme Presse. If L’Homme Presse is a genuine Gold Cup contender, then that is good form as well. Also had to add former winner Top Ville Ben on his current mark.
Into Overdrive 11/2
Top Ville Ben 25/1 EWDecember 26, 2022 at 09:02 #1628150Like many, I followed Zanza through the thick and thin of many handicaps for quite q while before giving up. Blinkers finally helped him win for the first time in two years – a convincing victory. Doubtless my £1 today will see him back to his old tricks. He’d never get higher than a 4 on Strictly for his jumping, but does usually find a way over.
The value in the race, however, by quite some way looks to be Aye Right, who put in a rare poor run last time. At 40s to 4 places (Bet365) or 28s to 5 (Skybet) he’s well worth an EW bet. Arguably second in the value line is another oldie, Windsor Avenue, who ran well last time: he was third in this race two years ago and is 25/1 to 5 places.
Good luck
JoeDecember 26, 2022 at 09:19 #1628152With you on Top Ville Ben, looks a cracking ew option at a decent price.

So don't run, just like the others always do
December 26, 2022 at 09:22 #1628153I think, at times, we’ve all followed horses over a cliff as they came down the weights, but fortunately I gave Zanza one last chance at Newbury.
He’s still relatively young, and he’d dropped to a gift of a mark, and when he finally delivered he did it in style.
But even in victory he looked a monkey to me – more than once his jockey had him meet a fence on a perfect stride, asked him to pick up and he put down.
He’s a tempting price even after the hike back up the weights and this once 2m chaser looks in need of further every time he runs.
But I quite like related-contingency multiples so, by way of a saver on my King George bets, I’ve had an Into Overdrive/L’Homme Presse double and if the former wins here the latter must have an even bigger chance at Kempton.

Not in my mind. I sided with Into Overdrive in this ‘handicap’ as he has been in good heart on the racetrack in recent times and has a low weight, but favour another in the ‘Grade 1’.
December 26, 2022 at 12:33 #1628194I’m with Fanion destruval here at 8-1
I just hope that he starts better than he did at Newbury
December 26, 2022 at 13:32 #1628216I’ll have a bet in this, and it’s a last minute bet on Chantry House to join you GAG
December 26, 2022 at 13:42 #1628219Get in!
December 26, 2022 at 13:46 #1628220Good race , winner dug in well and gives the L,homme presse form a boost , Aye right ran well but ran out of a place , Shah blue looks a shadow of his himself , Chantry travelled well before his fall , bar the winner is prob take Kalishnikov out of the race , if he comes on for it there’s still a decent race in him
