    Mac the bat is frightening
other residents of 101 at night
Unlike Bobby Darin his repertoire is limited.
    Happy Birthday 🎂
and my old man’s a dustman
can be heard in the early hours in a high screeching tone and to finish off
    he does the spoons.

Not my favourite Oliver Postgate work, but any Bagpuss “hater” lacks a moral compass.

“any Bagpuss “hater” lacks a moral compass.”

I think that is a fair comment. The owner ordered a ginger cat and was not amused when a red one arrived. For a few weeks he probably lacked his compass until the red maybe grew on him. I do think a lot of the creatures hated the meddling and having to do things at night. They would have enjoyed it here in the lounge where the dead rest and most of the rest sleep.

“Having watched some of the women’s football, it puts to shame their
male counterparts who get a bump, roll over half a dozen times, several
minutes later after the magic sponge they are sent to the side lines.
The whistle goes and they’re back on like a greyhound out the traps.
    Pisses me off.”

It still shocks me that this is deemed acceptable and ‘part of the game’. Every one of those cheating players who acts so foolish should be banned for at least a game, only way to cut it out, genuinley angers me that kids will be watching these mens games and deem this sort of behaviour as normal.

In most sports if an athlete has 1 microgram too much of a substance (that may have been taken accidently) in their body then can get a 6 month ban, yet in football we are actively encouraging players to cheat by way of winning their team penalties and noone bats an eyelid? World is full of idiots.

Those who constantly overuse the word “amazing” to describe something minor.

Ghost do you mean “This Morris Minor is amazing.”

You've got to accentuate the positive.
    Eliminate the negative.
    Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.

No! Although a case could be made if the old classic is in pristine condition.

That reminds me of the way the word “great” has lost all meaning. As I’m sure I’ve mentioned once or twice before. 🤐

Speaking of dumbing down, the BBC is really overdoing it with the passing of Olivia Newton-John tonight.

Over the top with the eulogies to Olivia Neutron-Bomb but barely a mention of Judith Durham, who’s also died

A great and amazing voice

I expect a lot of people in the BBC Newsroom have never heard of the great Judith Durham. Whereas “Grease” is still a big part of the popular culture they like, so they assume everyone else will be as interested as them.

I intend no disrespect to Olivia Newton John. I am sorry to hear she has died – but I cannot stand “Grease”! Terrible songs and Travolta and Newton John prancing around like teenagers struck me as a bit weird even at the time.

Saw Grease in the cinema and loved it at the time, yes they were too old for the parts they were playing but it was a fun movie.

Still it might have been this.

“Grease” was released when I was still at primary school! It was massively popular but I remember not liking it. I think it was an early warning sign of my lifelong membership of The Awkward Squad.

I think the Arthur Mullard/Hylda Baker parody is quite amusing. Although I believe Mullard was not a very nice man.

Sometimes I think it’s best not to learn too much about our “heroes” from the past.
For example I’d used to like Bud And Lou movies, not as much as Stan and Oli, but as a kid they were amusing. Then I found out Lou’s real character and it put me off.

Although Tommy Cooper was difficult to live with according to a newspaper article I read once, but still think he was great. Loved his magic tricks which he spoilt deliberately but seemed to make them better.

    Here’s an example.

I absolutely cannot stand musicals so have never seen Grease. I’d happily consign them all to the darkest depths of Room 101 but I do acknowledge the enjoyment that many get from them so I’ll stick to ignoring them.
