Quite simply Ronaldo is signed for another 4 seasons at Old Trafford.

Its obvious that Big Phil wants him to leave Man Utd so Chelsea can have a better chance at winning the Premiership even though they wont have a cat in hells chance of winning.

On the one hand he has won everything he can at Man Utd, doinked Gemma Atkinson and is dating another fit bird.

Real Madrid are very overated and are always in debt and get funded by the local government in Madrid to help with the finances.

Man Utd are under no obligation to sell him and could even send him on loan to Accrington if they wanted, but £70million is a lot of money but i cannot see Man Utd selling him.

I bet Phil wants him to go to Madrid so he can sign him for Chelsea,

I,m glad someone else sees the bigger picture instead of talking nonsense like some have.I think though, even if he was won the league and champs league etc i still think staying and defending your titles is worth even more to a players career and satisfaction.

Anyone can win a title whever a league or euro competition but the real test of a player and squad is to keep winning,Like Liverpool did in the 70,s and 80,s,Like Utd did in the 90,s etc etc etc.
I cannot see Chelsea doing anything next season especially if Mourihno takes Lampard,Terry and Drogba to Inter !!!I also understand Chelsea fans feelings if they go too,Players who sign contracts must stay and honour it!

One of the reasons why the Premier League bores me tears (aside from the diving, the whining of the managers and the constant, unremitting and unfounded hype) is the tedious transfer speculation that occupies the back pages all summer. Dear God by the time it all begins I’ve had enough.

Ronaldo, for the love of all that is holy, go or stay but make up your bloody mind soon so I can log onto a football website without seeing your ugly mug, you overrated, spindly-limbed Portugese ponce.

There, I feel a lot better.

In case anyone’s interested, Walsall have been trying to sign Bournemouth defender and Rio Ferdinand clone Josh Gowling. In an epic transfer tussle, we finally lost out this week as the south coast star decided to move to the more exotic climes of Carlisle. Now that’s real transfer action.

Also to put my opinion in,I actually believe the best players in the world come from Spain,Italy and Holland.

    and not Brazil?

The 70,s and 80,s Brazil were awesome Pele,Zico,Socrates,Junior etc but i don,t think their anything special of late.

Just started to read this thread and am staggered by your blinkered view of top-class football and the politics which control it.

Just looked at the recent crop of "nothing special" Brazilians over the last 15 years. One indicator may be FIFA World Player of the Year

    94 Romario
    96 Ronaldo
    97 Ronaldo
    99 Rivaldo
    02 Ronaldo
    04 Ronaldinho
    07 Kaka

Brazil have also in the same period won 2 World Cups and been Runners Up (when heavily favoured) in another.

United are not the richest club in the world. How can they be when they are founded on debt?
They are not the best club in the world, look at the records.
They may have the biggest fan base, I’ll give you that.
They are playing dirty little games to get where they are today, just like every other top club does. They screw clubs and individuals to get what they need (just like others do) but Real are the past masters at it and it’ll take a lot more than a bunch of domestic honours, 3 European Titles and a large fanbase to get to where Real are.
Ronaldo may go and weaken the team a little, he may stay and his play may decline. Fergie can’t go on forever and the replacement may well not be as good or may not settle in.
Querioz may go and the rich seam of Portuguese prospects at favourable prices may dry up.
Giggs, Scholes and Neville are near or at the end.
Chelsea are ready to reload with a new boss and a boatload of cash. Arsenal will be at least as good next season, Liverpool will improve as will Everton, Tottenham and those guys over the road.
All in all the next few years should be a bumpy ride at OT.
Hope you enjoyed last season, you may be hanging on to those memories for a while yet.

I won,t even give you the decency of an answer to 99%of your "tripe" printed above. One thing i have learned is never try and debate football and the Utd topic with someone with a clear hatred of anything RED!!!!!

You talk complete tosh and when you utter nonsense such as "a bunch of domestic honours" as if the La Liga league is somewhat harder and more prestigios than the premier league. We have dominated the premier league since it started and apart from the Arsenal challenge and brief Chelsea interruption no-one has been close.

A bumpy ride is what you should be feeling from that "hate man utd" bandwagon your hitching a ride on…I am guessing your a "mickey mouse"follower???????

You’re wrong in so many ways that I’ve lost count :P

Yes In your opinion!! We all have opinions do we not??? Plus if we all felt and said the same it would be a very boring world!! I could say the same about you and your opinions,You think i,m wrong and i think you,re wrong.

All i know is this and it,s fact..Ronaldo has shown zero loyalty to a legal and binding contract,He has shown zero loyalty and gratitude to the Manager, the Glazers,The backroom team and the fans. The people i also feel sorry for are the poor parents who pay £40-£50 for a shirt for their kids then pay £10 to get it printed up with "Ronaldo" on only for him to dis-honour his contract.

I know players cannot stay for that reason but in this day and age i,d make the want away players pay back every to parents who fork out their hard earned pennies to get the shirts printed for idolising kids !!

    Lavaman,

Just a little bit of advice. Please stop saying things are FACT when they are clearly just your OPINION :D

You have already said that it’s a fact that United are the richest club in the world. Where did you get this fact from? You have already said that it’s a fact that United are the best club in the world. Where did you get this fact from.

Now you are going on about Ronaldo’s loyalty and once again saying things are fact. Where are you getting these facts from? Or could it be that they are just your opinion?

On the Planet Lavaman FACT is whatever he wants it to be. Everything else is just somebody else’s (misguided) opinion.
My opinion is 99% tripe on Planet Lavaman. The other 1% is the bit where I agreed that United probably have the biggest fanbase.

    Just one question.

What is the difference between Madrid chasing after Ronaldo when he is "in contract" with another club and Man Utd chasing after Rooney when he was "in contract" with another club (Everton)?

Are there not some double standards and hypocrisy behind United’s righteous indignation

not a lot, but i should imagine the little tart is as good as gone now, he’ll not get another wage rise, he’ll ham up his time off with his recovery from his invented injury and may even do an henry and claim stress/overplaying

whatever man u say, the owners are businessmen with debts and won’t chuck away the capital he represents to make a point

big phil has effectively removed the reason man u won instead of chelsea last season and will back it up with a couple of hundred mill or so in the summer transfer window

much as i hate to say it, chavski should be ante post favs for next season now

    Precisely, Simon.
United’s rivals are playing hardball with them the same as they did with others.
Top level football is more about what happens off the pitch as on it these days.

if Mourihno takes Lampard,Terry and Drogba to Inter !!!I also understand Chelsea fans feelings if they go too,Players who sign contracts must stay and honour it!

The feeling from this Chelsea fan is that if they want to give their careers a change in direction, then fair enough

There has been no specualtion regarding terry anyway

Lampard owes nothing to the supporters. We know that and hes been magnificent

The loyalty card makes me laugh. How many who keep spouting that would translate that to their own work enviroment?

it strikes me that only Man Utd fans in this country dont get why a player from south europe or latin america wouldnt want to play for Madrid. Says a lot frankly

I think scolari is doing a fine job here. For fergie to complain about others being underhand (note his games with england players) is the biggest laugh going

Regarding the loyality card a lot of people on here seem to forget that to players this is their job, so you have to ask yourself if you were working in a different country but it was a top job, then somone asks you to go to a new country for an equally good job in a top company with twice the money you are on and nearer your home country, tell me you wouldnt take it!!!

I get the fact latins wish to play for clubs like Madrid at some point in their career as i keep explaining to you,The whole point is, by all means play for Madrid if you want but don,t P**S about a club you,ve just signed a longterm contract with.

If he wanted to play for Madrid so badly and was obviously so unhappy with Utd why did he sign to stay on for 5 years???? The example of people in the workplace and leaving a job is totally different and you know it.We don,t sign a contract and are subsequently bound by it in our shelf stacking job in Tesco or driving a forklift for B and Q !!!

Footballers are bound by their contract period,I cannot and do not for one minute believe Chelski fans are happy about Lampard and Drogba on the verge of possibly playing in Italy next season.
Who is happy when their best players want to go??? Terry has been the subject of speculation but it just is,nt on the ridiculous scale of the Ronaldo saga.

Because that’s exactly how football works.

Man Utd are not going to say, “Because you want to sign for Madrid in a few years, why not sign a two year contract then you can go for free at the end of it”.

So what happens? Man Utd push a five year contract under his nose, knowing fine well that he has a desire to play for Madrid at some point in his career. And if that some point in his career happened to be one year into his contract then they could flog his for near £100m.

It’s not rocket science, it’s just how football works.

There will be hundreds and hundreds of transfers this summer throughout England and Scotland. Every transfer that has a fee attached to it means that a club is buying a player from another club while he is under contract. If a player isn’t under contract he goes for free, simple as that.

It’s totally unfair to question why Ronaldo signed a five year contract – like I say, that’s just how football works.

Why did McFadden sign a contract with Everton only to sign for Birmingham?
Why did Torres join Liverpool half way through his Atletico Madrid contract?
Why did Reo-Coker sign a contract with West Ham only to sign for Aston Villa?

I hope you get my point.

    Mike

ps: You also say in that above quote that Ronaldo was obviously so unhappy with Utd. When has he ever said this or what gives you that impression if it’s just your opinion? He certainly looked happy to me during his career at United.

Although I tend to agree the sentiment of your position Lavaman. I think to not recognise it was wholly in Manchester Utd’s interests to offer an extended contract at the time they did is slightly disingenuous.

The current reported price tag of 80m is a reflection of this.

Edit: (I didn’t see MM’s post before posting – but that’s football and I agree Manchest Utd knew what they were doing)

You really dont get it do you?

I wonder how closely you really follow this game

No chelsea fan will be happy about Lampard going or Ricky, but the seeming difference between so many man utd fans and those of other clubs is their attitude that there is "no other club in the world that anyone would want to play for"

    Which is complete bollocks
