It’s like Carry On General Election you really couldn’t make some of it up.
Sunak – Charles Hawtrey
Starmer – Bernard Bresslaw
Farage – Sid James. The more I know the less I understand.
June 29, 2024 at 09:11 #1700199For anyone who missed it, here’s the election broadcast to which Richard referred:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0020kcy/party-election-broadcasts-conservative-party-28062024
Truly painful to watch.
June 29, 2024 at 09:33 #1700201I didn’t think it was anywhere as cringing as Starmer and Gary Neville.
Surprised the tories haven’t attacked Rayner and the left a bit more. I suggested right at the start that there could be problems ahead for Starmer as he tries to move further and further away from the left.
June 30, 2024 at 08:33 #1700408In 5 days he’ll be PM , the question is how much time will the public give Labour to start turning things around , inflation is down to a manageable % , they’ll be pressure to bring interest rates down by at the latest August , the Tories have a big decision to make on who replaces Sunak , this is different to when Blair went in , the public want to see quick results

June 30, 2024 at 09:56 #1700413The latest leaflet from the Conservatives is just full of Starmer bashing. It’s downright nasty. Our Labour candidates, Samantha Niblett is a breath of fresh air compared to our current Conservative on, Heather Wheeler, who was one of the ones in tears when Johnson had to leave No10. All she has done for the past few years has been to defend her hero.Oh and she also defended Cleverly when he called Stockton a s******e.
June 30, 2024 at 10:29 #1700414It’s ok Moe we,’ll be able to enjoy there fall in a few days , I’m expecting to get little sleep on Thurs night …I’ll be to busy cheering

June 30, 2024 at 11:59 #1700420Front page of one of the Sundies states Starmer will ruin the country in 100 days …it took Truss much less time

June 30, 2024 at 12:31 #1700421The ‘can’t be any worse’ Prime Minister. That’s how this election feels to me. I don’t think there is any real optimism that he will do a much better job, if at all.
June 30, 2024 at 12:45 #1700424Scaremongering.
It’s all the Tories have.
June 30, 2024 at 13:08 #1700426And ‘look at the last 14 years’ is pretty much all Labour have had to offer as a counter. That’s why the election debate has been so dismal.
June 30, 2024 at 14:18 #1700433The last fourteen years is actual evidence.
June 30, 2024 at 18:25 #1700460Stilvi as Glad says , the Tories have theories , Labour have the evidence

June 30, 2024 at 19:59 #1700480As I said people are voting on the basis ‘things couldn’t be any worse’. They have zero evidence that will be true.
June 30, 2024 at 20:07 #1700481Ok what in your eyes is worse ….also they could get better
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
June 30, 2024 at 20:17 #1700484In my eyes it’s a rubbish choice. As a long time Labour voter, I should be cheering, but I’m not.
June 30, 2024 at 20:55 #1700488“They have zero evidence that will be true.”
With all due respect, stilvi, that’s an inane argument.
June 30, 2024 at 22:24 #1700500Why? It’s you that quoted the past as evidence, so surely the future is an unknown. What I said was true, but for some strange reason you have decided to have a little pop.
