Let’s face it, if the ballot had included the party members, he probably would not be PM now.

Boris Johnson was on CNN last night; have to say he spoke well and very passionately about the Ukraine war.
Of course, he probably has his own selfish motivation; if only he wasn’t such a consummate liar about almost every other issue.

One thing you can be absolutely certain of with Boris Johnson is that the number one, and often only, consideration with everything he says and does is the personal gain of Boris Johnson.

I would suggest a combination of the Brexit deal and significant sustained social media left-wing trashing of Starmer as deceitful in the wake of the expulsion of Corbyn has resulted in an easing of Labour from 1.22 to 1.25 for Most Seats at the next General Election.

Labour are also 1.61 to get a majority having been 1.59.

Sunak’s biggest enemies are within his own Party and, to a certain extent, Starmer is in the same boat.

Easiest deal in history. We hold all the cards. Get Brexit done. Oven ready. Four lies that immediately spring to mind before they start patting each other on the back too much. Let’s not forget this is a deal that allows us to trade within our own country

Still, he does finally seem to have told the DUP to do one and the so-called ERG has been rather quiet so we perhaps finally have an example of him showing a bit of strength. Probably helped by Labour there though as they’ve been saying they’ll back this for a while now which sees off all but the very biggest of rebellions.

“ERG has been rather quiet so we perhaps finally have an example of him showing a bit of strength. Probably helped by Labour”

This is what happens when both Parties stand up to the extremes within them – they can produce something that actually moves the country in a positive direction.

    Sunak:

‘Remember this – Northern Ireland has this very special position where it has access to the UK market, has access to the EU market, which makes it an incredibly attractive place to invest for businesses.’

These clowns really are shameless aren’t they? The entire bloody country had access to the single market before. Clueless.

We took back control and got our sovereignty back!

Worked a treat that one didn’t it?

Sunak has shown a bit of strength, facing down the ERG. Deal seems a reasonable compromise, tho Scotland must be a bit sick. Don’t know if the DUP will ever return to govt, whatever the deal, as they mightn’t be able to stomach a nationalist First Minister.

Sunak thinks we really are stupid enough to believe that ….I’m going to enjoy watching them fall

    Next Election

    Most Seats
    Labour 1.28
    Conservatives 4.6

    Overall Majority
    Labour 1.65
    No Overall Majority 3.4
    Conservatives 9.6

Definite wobble for Labour in the wake of this NI deal.

If Sunak gets the deal through Parliament it’s a definite win for him and the most positive moment so far in his Premiership.

But I’ve got a feeling this is as good as it will get.

May Elections will be horrendous and, though you’d think that’s already inevitable, the reality of it may spark more in-fighting.

I think it would take Corbyn starting a new Party – and taking voters Starmer probably feels have no other place to go – to seriously diminish Starmer’s chances.

It says it all that Sunak’s biggest (only?) win so far is undoing the ‘oven ready’ deal that he endorsed and replacing it with something actually workable.

Matt Hancock would very possibly make my Top Five Most Vile Men On The Planet.

But then Isabel Oakeshott would very possibly make my Top Five Most Vile Women On The Planet.

It’s really hard to know who to side with on this one.

    Neither, I guess.

Truly a contest where I hope they both lose. And they might too. Assuming this leak is genuine then those involved do not come out at all well and she’s broken an NDA.

I can understand that in the early stages of the pandemic it was a fluid situation, Matt Hancock had to make difficult choices under considerable pressure, and mistakes were inevitable.

But I can’t understand why he would have chosen a right-wing hack as a ghostwriter (there are 1000s of excellent ghostwriters available), then give her vast amounts of confidential and compromising information, and then be surprised that she spilled it for her own advancement. His judgement is obviously very flawed.
