Cheers folks! Its nice to see one win like that at a price, I was watching the money come in for Eagle Mountain all day and thought he’d drift but never thought he’d hit such a big price, still buzzing:biggrin: .

I think ive mentioned on here before that I think that Chapple hyam has made some very shrewd purchases and has a very strong hand for next year (Dutch Art, Authorized and Hamoody-who still have a lot of faith in) obviously so too does Bolger, but teofilo has his own targets and there are plenty of races for these three.
I know its a bold statement but I actually think that PCH looks to have a better string of Group1 horses than O’brien for next year, O’brien surely has strength in numbers but i’ve not seen anything that looks like a true star from him, HRE is good but he looks to have shown his best.

I just hope that P.C.H. and Co. can repel the Godolphin horse slaying operation over the winter, but Hamoody and Authorized both bear the same colours as proclamation, although he looks to have been sold when the time was right…

You can’t crib at the winner’s performance. He’s obviously as good as his most recent purchase price entitled him to be; which of course is not always guaranteed by any means. Also my congratulations to and deepest envy of Bulwark for picking him.

Howmsomeever…. as a fully-accredited armchair jockey, I thought Kinane made a wrong move to extricate EM at the crucial stage, taking a left instead of a right, which seemed to me more promising. Though I suppose the far side on the open course would normally be the safest line to take.

Anyway, I’m going to watch the video and see if there might be an iota of truth in my perception of the matter, or not. I hope not, as top professional jockeys don’t really come anywhere near deserving to be publicly regaled with the casual impressions of a Noddy.

At worst, it’s inevitable that split-second decisions will not be unfailingly on the mark, in any field, never mind one with a race course on which your riding a nag at a rate of knots in the middle of a bunch of similar steeds in a state of more or less constant jockeying for position. But talking through my pocket sometimes affords a certain comfort to the rueful punter.

I’m often miffed to hear the fierce criticisms of jockeys and trainers on here, but when my horse loses "undeservedly" in my eyes at the time, no-one dances up and down and rages more fiercely than me.

As I’ve put in the lays and plays section, I certainly don’t think there was any fluke about the win. I was only watching Authorised for the last 6f and it seemed to travel strongly before making up the ground on the bridle. Jackane probably won’t agree but I think having Dettori on board certainly helped as he could take his time before ranging up 2f out at which point I thought he could be named the winner. Get on for the Derby now e/w!!!!

Don’t think Proclamation was in those colours – he was in the ownership of Abdullah Saeed Belhab. He is part of what is now Rabbah Bloodstock, and their interests are managed by connections of Darley and Gainsborough, which is where the Maktoum link comes in.

The owners of Hamoody and Authorized are not part of Rabbah and as such do not have the same obligations to Sheikh Mo.

Hope they have enough money to resist though!

I thought the Eagle Mountain ride could have been better but he woould have been third at best, even with a clear run.

Good stuff, their definitely very similar colours, with the dark green. I think Bolger will resist the urge to sell teofilo as it could be his ticket into coolmore, however I hope Godolphin dont get their hands on anything decent this year as next year currently looks like a great one for smaller yards.

Thanks. It’s important for me to know, at least have a sound opinion. My mind wasn’t in a very clinical mode to evaluate his prospect of success at that point.

I’ve just looked at his collateral form with Teofilo and the speed figures fo the runners in it didn’t compare with those of the runners in Teofilo’s race against Holy Roman Emperor.

Congrats on that one Bulwark. I personally couldn’t have had a once-raced maiden in that company in my wildest dreams, rep or no rep. The horse was impressive for sure.

Racing Daily Posted on 8:11 pm on Oct. 21, 2006
Congrats on that one Bulwark. I personally couldn’t have had a once-raced maiden in that company in my wildest dreams, rep or no rep. The horse was impressive for sure.

I didnt think of him as a once raced maiden, in high company. I looked at him as a well bred horse (similar profile in many ways to Hurricane Run) who had been touted on the gallops on several occasions before making a smart 91 rated debut (which is very high and usually only special sorts will do this, if theyve got breeding to go with it they’ll usually improve from it).

In a race which is likely to test stamina (I view 2yo 1mile races as stamina races), and where there is likely to be a good pace you’ve always got to be looking to a Montjeu colt, regardless of price. With that in mind there was no fluke about todays performance.

However it will probably transpire next year that Authorized, like Hurricane Run, Bulwark, Scorpion, Motivator etc will be at his best in fast paced races, this year i have noticed that they are very reliant on their ability to travel much more so than any turn of foot. However at the same time the last Montjeu who was this good at 2yo was motivator, but he had no teofilo to face.

Congratulations lads on the Chapple-Hyam winner.

I kind of figured he’d have a good day and I’m glad you did.;)

I knew i’d seen them colours on one of nosedas, was thinking it was proclamation, he ran in dark green aswell (now that i think of it, if i remember it was dark green and black), i’d forgot all about araafa. Cheers, fingers crossed all three stay with PCH.

I thought so, I just had a flashback of him beating Soviet song last year in Green and Black, was just buzzing so much after the racing that didnt actually fully think of the colours, or check them out.lol

It will be something that will be in the back of my mind over the winter, godolphin will have to re-arm from somewhere, and i just hope its not from Teofilo, hamoody or authorized. If authorized’s future stabling was clear id definitely consider an e/w derby bet as between teofilo and him, one will win the derby and Authorized will definitely get the trip and should definitely make the frame (in the absence of anything else of his class teofilo aside). However, his race fitness if he goes to godolphin is far from guaranteed and pretty much cancels any value.

I think you’re right about Godolphin Bulwark, they’ll be stealing one or two again like they usually do. Won’t be Teofilo though I think Coolmore will have him at the end of his racing career. I wouldn’t be surprised if Godolphin get Authorized though.

In terms of the Derby Teofilo is plenty short enough and I’m not 100% certain he’ll truely get a mile and a half. Authorized will have to prove to be as affective on faster ground. A horse that interests me is Roger Charlton’s colt Proponent who is beautifully bred by Peintre Celebre out of a mile and a half winning Chief’s Crown mare. He’s won two average contests to date very easily, travelling well and hasn’t been given a hard time at all. He’s clearly being nurtured in the hope of being a Derby horse and he’s going the right way. Will be a far better horse over twelve furlongs. 33/1 with Ladbrokes is tempting.

I watched the replay of the Racing Post trophy last nite and Authorized looked almost identical to motivator when he won the RPT, you could almost think it was the same horse in different colurs (obviously there wasnt the same winning margin but this years RPT looks stronger than motivators), in any normal season you would have to say that Authorized looks certain to win the derby, hes so far ahead of the rest at present and will improve for every yard he steps up.
However we have never seen a horse like Teofilo before and it will either turn out that he has too much speed and 1m2f is his ideal trip or he will be emphatic at 1m4f (which physically looking at him looks the more likely).
There is no doubt in my mind that Authorized does not have the turn of foot that Teofilo has but whether Teofilo has the stamina that Authorized has is another question, and Authorized’s stamina and definite Group1 class, should definitely be enough to discourage anyone from putting on a Triple crown bet for Teofilo (especially at his current price).

One thing is for sure though, both Authorized and Teofilo both look like high 120s/130 horses for 1m4f for next year and I reckon if they can both remain fit, then next year will be an absolutely classic year for 1m4f horses, I honestly dont reckon that there will be more horses in training at present with the same sort of scope as these two, if there is then great but it is unlikely. Authorized looks like the type who could be focused on the leger or the arc next year and he would look to hold a very good chance in both, how he is to be campaigned though we dont yet know, it will probably all depend on what teofilo does next year, and how he does it.

Next year has got more exciting with every 2yo group race ive seen.
