It’s not about proving things 100%, it’s just about being realistic and not making claims that require huge amounts of evidence to be ignored in favour of circumstance. If the forum was full of posts liks:<br> <br>"Sir Percy is a sprinter because he once won over 6f"
"Les Arcs should go hurdling because he didn’t fall when he ran at Cartmel"
or
"Norse Dancer should not have been retired, he’s definitely got a Group 1 in him"
it wouldn’t be much fun!

Which pretty well sums up most of this enormous thread. <br> As your namesake once said about a second marriage " It is a triumph for hope over experience".<br>R.I.P., Bulwark.
October 27, 2006 at 18:22 #80411<br>Wouldn’t it be great if all racing arguments were settled like that?
If meetings were abandoned, connections of all the horses set to run could simply drop their trousers in the parade ring, take a glance up and down the line, and then announce the results.
It would make the world a better place.

October 27, 2006 at 19:07 #80413I think you win an award for the ‘most viewed thread in ages’! Something that gets a discussion going is always worth it. (I think!):)
