If you check back Jackane, I think you’ll find that I said if they can go uninjured until then they’ll almost certainly win, muppet!
I still maintain what I’ve said about Sgt Cecil, he does only appear to win slow races when over and above his true distance (which I believe to be about 1m6f/1m7f). A theory which worked the other day when he was actually beaten by horses who actually had form over even shorter than him.
If it was me I would give EM a crack at the race, aob will usually send something for a crack and of what Ive seen him bring out this year, EM is probably the one I would give a crack, not saying he would win, I even said I prefer Scat Daddy and that it was just a thought.
I think after two or three pages of Scorpion, i’ve said why I think he was a pace maker, and I agree with Clivex 100%, he is actually thinking about most logically out of everyone i’ve heard so far.
Also FSL when do I whinge you blagard?

Ah ok, sorry about that. There was me thinking that there are other 2yos which either haven’t raced yet, or could improve up until the big day. Silly me.
October 26, 2006 at 19:15 #80393This is great isn’t it? Jackane cast as the voice of reason

Everything is relative.
October 26, 2006 at 19:23 #80395I think jackane and Bulwark should have a section all to themselves.
And that isn’t a suggestion that they should be sectioned.;)

October 26, 2006 at 19:58 #80396Wouldnt it be correct to suggest that whilst not an obvious pacemaker, the connections thought that it might not be a bad idea to run a horse with a chance (of sorts) who would ensure that there was some pace?
You can suggest it, but there’s absolutely no evidence to support it.
October 26, 2006 at 20:45 #80397Lol. I do have my moments.
But seriously, this guy is making me look sane…
Speaking of evidence, let’s take a look at Scorpion’s race record.
Maiden – ‘Chased leaders’ Won
Gallinule – ‘Settled in 5th’ (6 runners) Finished 2nd
French Derby – ‘held up in 16th’ Finished 16th
Irish Derby – ‘always prominent’ Finished 2nd
GPDP – ‘close up’ Won in record time
St Leger – ‘made all’ Won comfortably
Arc – ‘prominent’ Finished 10th
Listed – ‘held up in 6th’ 2nd
So, every time he was held up, he was beaten.
With the exception of the Arc, every time he was prominent or made all, he won or came 2nd.
Perhaps he was just a pacemaker in those races though…despite him being Ballydoyle’s only runner in the GPDP.
Maybe they forgot he was their only runner and told him to force the pace?
Of course there are other horses that can improve but both teofilo and Authorized both look to me to be 130ish horses and I personally think from what ive seen that the likelyhood of there being another 130ish horse out there who will be up to that standard by derby is absolutely slim to zero. I realise that some people think there might be others up to that standard but as yet no-one has managed to name me a horse and really I think that anyone who thinks that these horses have a good chance of getting beaten, knows bog all knows bog all about horse progression or the attributes of a solid middle distance horse – Jackane.:)
Read over your last post and think about what a retard you come across as. Just because scorpion was beaten when held up in the gallinule doesnt mean he wasnt suited to the style of running, he was slow to react when asked to go (when he was still farely inexperienced) but then came flying, when realising what he was meant to do. If youd watched the race you’d probably know that, instead of just reading the racingpost and spouting complete and utter s**t
, with no reagrd for his progression as a racehorse.October 26, 2006 at 21:42 #80399You are suggesting I’m a liar Bulwark. Ok lets see…….
The definition of whinge you would get in a typical dictionary is "To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner."
Now you say you don’t whinge and I am lying for saying you do whinge. Yet the following are all attributed to your username and match the descripition of whinge given above, so unless someone has hacked your username I’m afraid you’ve just made yourself look very silly…..
"I am not attempting to hype this horse up, and I’m definitely not saying he’s the best two year old ive seen this year, but out of the derby types ive seen this year, Teofilo and Authorized are head and shoulders above everything else ive seen. I am a big fan of looking for value for the derby every winter but really I dont think that will be the case this year as the chances of anything thats been out so far improving beyond one or both of these horses over the winter is very slim, and the chances of a horse weve not yet seen winning the derby are almost zero.
Also, i never said he would be certain to win a derby in a normal year, i said that in a normal year you would have to say he "looks certain" to win, what I probably said was "looks almost certain" to avoid irritating, my apologies.
At the end of the day everyone will always back the horse that they like for the derby and its hard to sway people, and I would never discourage anyone from backing a horse that they like for a race, but in my opinion its not often you get two horses like this coming through, and all im saying is that if these two stay fit then everything else faces a stiff task (for the derby, at least, i wouldnt back either for the guineas)." This is the 3rd time you’ve repeated your words on the same thread (p4) You are protesting in a persistant manner that these horses are in a world of their own and that Tefilo is a monster. But wait it gets better….
"The only horse out of the ones ive mentioned who had form even comparable with A and T is Motivator, I would say that Motivator and Authorized are at about the exact same level at this stage. Teofilo on the other hand, well he doesnt even bear thinking about, not only does he have 2yo form but hes an unbeaten double grp1 winner and champion 2yo at 7f (not even at a mile, which he would find easier), and hes not even fully developed yet. Not only that but all these 7f races have just been opportunities to build his turn of foot for next year.
We’re not exactly talking Sir percy or Palace episode here, these two horses represent pure class and I reckon that the only thing that will stop them winning the derby is injury.
I think its absolutely ludicrous to say that one of these 2 horses winning the Derby is not almost certain." (p5) We’d better make it 4 times. Again you are protesting and complaining about what Gus Kennedy has said (albeit making a cock-up of the quote facility in doing so) in an increasingly annoying and irritating manner.
"To win a decent derby, authorized probably only needs to improve about 10lbs which will be easy enough, bearing in mind:
1. He’ll fill out for going out to winter
2. Almost all montjeus hit their best at middle distances
3. Hes only ever had 2 races.
For Teofilo to win a decent derby, all he really needs to do is see out the trip he’s bred for. "(p5) Guess you thought you’d better repeat yourself directly below your other post in case people didn’t see your other post. But you didn’t stop there either did you?
New York was next for you to repeat yourself to and continue to rant on…."however, I think Teofilo could be the type to win a weak guineas and a good derby. American post and Brian Boru are nothing like this pair, Brian Boru was a Saddlers Wells with stamina up the ying yang and AP was a bering, look at the track record of montjeu and galileo as sires, and quite frankly if both horses make it to epsom in tact id be a little surprised if it isnt a reverse f/c nevermind something beating both you can nearly set your watch by good Gs and Ms. ".
Sal is next in line for one of your whinges "Teofilo enters next year having shown a turn of foot that is beyond the capabilities off almost all middle distance horses.
It is very hard to get a horse up to derby level in such a short period, and wheras there are likely to be improvers to you not agree that these two, having shown all the ability they need to be top class next year enter the year with a huge advantage for epsom.
Lets face it, the derby comes far too soon on the 3yo calender. Its not that I am writing off the chances of having another good Galileo or Montjeu (even though they are into their 2nd and 3rd crops respectively now) but I think that the chances of them knocking up one from the 2yos ive seen or from nowhere, and having them up to high 120s/ possibly even130+ standard is very slim, do you not agree sal? ". Deciding people may not have understand your point you then repeat it again in the next response "I have not said its definite, what I have said is that if all goes to plan with these two horses in the run up to the derby (and Teofilo stays), they will be almost certain to win as they will be close to 130 ratings by derby day, can you see anything else being up to that level by the day, you must admit that the odds of that are very slim of that happening."(p7).
Prufock is next in line when he had the cheek to say Eagle Mountain may have achieved as much as Authorised "Prufrock, I generally am not so much of a fan of horses that take their stamina from their dam-side (they do pay off sometimes and I will make exceptions from time to time, but not enough so i have a general rule against them), Eagle Mountains father was a miler, as we all know, and on that basis I’ll always pick a horse like teofilo or Authorized who comes from a middle distance background to out do them for stamina, and when you look at the RPT again with that in mind thats why Authorized (who like eagle mountain took a few knocks on the way to line) was able to muster a smart turn of foot whilst EM sat thinking woe is me, will I run or wont I, can I or cant I.
Also, look at the Race experience between Authorized and EM and the fact that EM went into that race on the back of a group win. I can only rate Authorized on what he has done so far (and hes been called, not just by me, one of the best RPT winner in recent years, 1lb below motivator) but in terms of what he represents (and the way montjeus tend to improve) I think hes really going to prove 10lbs or more better than his current 117 rating, unless he meets trouble off the course, with scopes injury etc.".(p8) Now your whinges are starting to become legendary in my book and I could go on and on and on with all of your whinging form the rest of this thread and others too. You clearly feel the need to repeat yourself in an irritating and persistant manner and the way you protest when someone dares to suggest Teofilo or Authorised may not win the Derby is hilarious! The sad thing is I pretty much agree that Teofilo and Authorised hold good chances but I am not going around criticising others and whinging at them like you. And then to call another forumite a liar is pretty stupid though I guess you thought it would go unchallenged like most of the other rubbish you post.
According to you all stamina should come from the sire otherwise they are non-stayers, Teofilo and Authorised are monsters that can’t be beaten, the calendar is all wrong becuase you don’t want them to go to the Guineas, I’m a liar, your racing knowledge is far superior to ours, Aidan O’ Brien has gambled this year by filing his stable out with dodgy Rock Of Gibraltar horses, people shouldn’t quit their day jobs becuase they’s have a hard time getting a new job, New York needs to up the medication and everybodies’ arguments lack consistency but yours don’t because you’ve based them on an hunch. "Also aiden, I suppose it is like a hunch really but on a much higher scale, these two horses tick every box I would wish for a horse to tick at two for a great derby in a years time (I honestly think they both look like 130 3yo types or close to it) and I just cant see them both Failing, becasue I think it will take something too smart to beat them and I dont reckon anything that smart emerging with the same preparation. My style of betting doesnt go on the highest last race rating but the realistic rating which I believe is likely to come in the next (with the realistic level of the opposition)."
And clearly you have something against the quote button because you refuse to use it properly.
Now have you heard of the Bet**** Forum? Its full of people like you.
October 26, 2006 at 21:44 #80400The Gallinule and the French Derby were also shorter than 12f and completely devoid of early pace. I don’t think there’s too much mystery about Scorpion – he’s a proper 12f+ horse (family of Ardross, remember) who is at his best on fast ground off a decent pace. If the ground stays decent, he handles the prelims, and the race doesn’t turn into a paceless, tactical affair, I think he could offer very decent value on Saturday week.

But I would delay the hype until mid-May Bulwark. A lot can happen over the winter. A O’B has got many good looking 2yos. Red Rock Canyon is a good horse, and both A O’B and Heffernan said that he just doesn’t show his quality on the racecourse.
Macarthur – a full bro to Motivator
Anton Chekhov – my current pick for the Derby.
Duke of Marmalade
Eagle Mountain
Admiralofthefleet
Able Seaman
Bonifacio
And there are loads more.
P.s. Kinane’s ride on Eagle Mountain was not the best
I wrote this on about page 4 of this very thread – so quite how you can say no-one has mentioned another horse is beyond me.
Macarthur actually won on his debut yesterday very nicely. There is also Mount Nelson, another impressive winner for Ballydoyle recently.
Bulwark – I suggest you go and look at the Derby entries, and see how many of them are unraced as yet.
Gareth – maybe there was no pace in either of those races, but he won his maiden nicely ‘chasing the leaders.’

Might I suggest previewing the post before submitting it? I do have some difficulty understanding some things you have written (3 instances in your last post), and perhaps it would stem some of the bad feeling if everyone clearly understood what you’re trying to say.

Now have you heard of the Bet**** Forum? Its full of people like you.
Its not that I have had a go at people FSL disagreeing with me, its the way that I are so certain that the chances of these horses is not what I seriously believe it to be. If you think my repetitive posts are irritating think how it has been typing them. Your perception of whinging does not tie in with mine. TO me, whinging is harping on about being hard done by, which I dont believe I have done. Therefore I was not actually calling you a liar. But you have just firmly established yourself as beingIMHO opinion a complete and utter tosspot.
There are quite a few good folks on here, and many of whom I have argued with (many on this thread) but I do actually respect their opinions however, and I do like to make cheeky comments if someone takes the p**s
, that to me is just banter (im repeating myself again). But to be honest FSL, I may annoy you but I think that it is up yourself w**k
ers like yourself FSL that ruin forums like this and to be honest I think I’ll have to check out this Betfair forum that you clearly dispise so much as theres probably some good folks on there…
One last repetitive point though, I will stress once again that I have never said that horses who get stamina from their sire side are useless, I think that has already been settled, before I go, in advance of next years derby, I’d just like to say "I told you so!";)
Well if that’s what it took to send you to the Betfair forum it was worth it! :o
Probably best anyway; they won’t disagree with you there
October 27, 2006 at 10:25 #80405Wouldnt it be correct to suggest that whilst not an obvious pacemaker, the connections thought that it might not be a bad idea to run a horse with a chance (of sorts) who would ensure that there was some pace?
——————————————————————————–
You can suggest it, but there’s absolutely no evidence to support it.
Yes?
And?
October 27, 2006 at 10:41 #80406Presumably the point is that we can all sit here suggesting things all day, but without any evidence to support such suggestions, it does tend to weaken them somehwat.
October 27, 2006 at 10:51 #80407Don’t be ridiculous…
It was a theory but without being part of AOB’s entourage how the hell am I supposed to prove it? and even then would I have to get it in writing?

If we were only to discuss exactly what we were 100% certain about we would get abolsutely nowhere
As if all trainers plans and objectives are totally transparent anyway…
