Good performance from Baeed but all the Frankel talk on Sky Sports Racing literally 5 seconds after Baeed passed the line was ridiculous, it’s a disservice to both Baeed and Frankel mentioning the great ones name whenever the Haggas horse races. Baeed isn’t Frankel, we all know we most likely won’t see another Frankel for a very long time, but that’s ok. Not every top class horse has to be the next bloody Frankel.

“there is a need to big up/hype the contestants to those of the past and in most cases it is unwarranted or an unfair comparison”.

    ————————-

Yes am sure that does happen. But some also bring Frankel into it in order to bring down a really good horse.

“The thing that always stuck in my mind with that Frankel performance was that in the third last furlong he was clocked at 10.58sec which was faster than any of the furlongs clocked by any of the sprinters that ran in the 5F King’s Stand later in the day.”

This is mental, thanks for sharing LD73.

GT – Human nature that some will go that route sadly, sometimes we all just need to appreciate a good horse that keeps producing each time they come to the racecourse and leave it at that.

He was 0.69s off the course record on ground offical described as good to soft (all other race times were slower than standard), his time of 1m 37.85s compares with Baaeed’s of 1m 37.76s on good to firm ground.

Comparisons in this case (at least at this time) are simply laughable.”

    Yup :good:

Frankel was a freak of nature

Baaeed is very good but he’s been beating no hopers this year and has not even shown he’s better than excelebration yet let alone frankel

    Excelebration 129 official rating

Baaeed will surely remain on 125 after today

Close, but I’d still have Baaeed over Excelebration.

    As would most.

I wonder what the “superstar addicts” would have made of Excelebration if this was the only race of his they’d ever seen.

I am a massive lurker on this forum and rarely say anything.

But this horse is really special to me. I have always been a massive STS fan. I even visited him at Giltown in 2019.

STS credentials as a progenitor of top class middle distance horses has never been in doubt. But with Baeed we now see he can produce speed too.

I think this cements STS as one of the top stallions currently around.

Good point archi and it’s satisfying when a horse you greatly admire (which I did) becomes a fine stallion and as you say, a versatile one too

They just retired him too early !

tbh I think STS’s place as a top stallion was cemented some time ago, Archi’.

But it is certainly nice for STS to sire a horse within 6 lbs of his own magnificent Timeform rating… And sired one with Baaeed’s speed. :good:

Given Baaeed’s breeding and temperament he could be even better at 10f.
