Not sure that even if he were to win by 10L that that would be enough because only Order of Australia has managed an OR of 120 – so him or one of the rest would need to run way above the best they have achieved so far to make it possible.
Baaeed realistically doesn’t even need to run to 125 to win this easily and I don’t see Crowley really pressing him for more than is needed to win by 4-5L, if he can’t do that with the minimal of fuss then it would be a real let down.
June 14, 2022 at 14:34 #1601954Have to be honest that was a little underwhelming – travelled really well but did not put the distance into the second I was expecting (although the first two did gap the rest).
June 14, 2022 at 14:35 #1601955Just as impressive as at Newbury IMO.
Time 0.89 sec faster than standard – Good to Firm – given the quality of horse setting the standard at Ascot over the years, I’d call that Good to Firm and it will only get quicker throughout the day.

June 14, 2022 at 14:37 #1601957real world could’ve got even closer if he didn’t sweat up beforehand
June 14, 2022 at 14:42 #1601960That’s how Real World is, Istabraq.
Some horses are affected by sweating up, some aren’t.
tbh On a hot day – with the horse he is – if Real World didn’t sweat up I’d be worried he wouldn’t show his form.Value Is EverythingJune 14, 2022 at 14:47 #1601963Frankel would’ve beaten that lot by a furlong
Nice performance though
I’d love to see him vs desert crown in the juddmonte but not sure how likely that is
June 14, 2022 at 14:48 #1601964Yes I remember the same thing happened when he beat enable’s brother
June 14, 2022 at 14:55 #1601965Baaeed won with a bit in hand.
Rating the race on Real World running to the same rating as at Newbury would mean Baaeed not quite running to that form, but won without being asked too much, so rating deserves tow remain the same.
However, with 4 lengths back to the field it is possible this was a career best for Real World on a track he loves.
Either way I’d expect Baaeed’s Master Timeform rating to remain 134.Value Is EverythingJune 14, 2022 at 14:57 #1601966If you believed Order Of Australia ran to his mark of 118 – and to be fair the fourth and fifth lens credence to that – you could rate Baaeed 128 with a plus for ease of victory.
But that means Real World has run a career best of 124 from 118 and that I doubt.
Frankel was 140 on OR btw.
I think Baaeed stays on 125 and remains a really nice 4yo – a good horse.
But not a great on what he’s done so far.

Division is at his mercy. Stepping up to 10f he’d be vulnerable to the strong staying typesGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
June 14, 2022 at 15:06 #1601969Not sure Baaeed has run to 125 and are they really saying Chindit has run to 113 (compared to 112 in the Lockinge) even though he was beaten 3L more today by Baaeed and over 5L more by Real World who was only 1.75L in front of him at Newbury???
Real World was 2L closer to Baaeed today yet gets the same rating as he did at Newbury????
Am I missing something?
June 14, 2022 at 15:07 #1601970Aren’t the constant references to frankel getting a little tiresome?
Does anyone have kids here? Get to uni. Thrilled etc “you are no Einstein!”
Is it just this sport ? Football “all very well but you are no Messi!” And every batmans in cricket “ha. You are no Bradman!”
Ran within himself today. Nicely done by the jockey
June 14, 2022 at 15:20 #1601976“Frankel would’ve beaten that lot by a furlong”
————————————–
I believe Timeform rate Real World 125.
If Baaeed would’ve beat him 10 lengths then it would’ve been up with Frankel.10 Years ago in this race I backed Frankel to win by 10+ lengths, because if just one rival (Excelebration) ran a bit below his form – everything else was either not good enough to get within 10 lengths or out of form or wouldn’t stay. Plus, Aussies came over that year with Black Caviar saying she was better than Frankel – more chance of FRankel being pushed out to win by a long distance… And that was what happened.
But Baaeed is not Frankel, get over it.
Value Is EverythingJune 14, 2022 at 15:20 #1601977All sports do it all over the world (Lebron to MJ in Basketball etc), there is a need to big up/hype the contestants to those of the past and in most cases it is unwarranted or an unfair comparison.
At this stage I would be much more inclined to compare Baaeed to Excelebration as without Frankel Excelebration would have won the Lockinge & Queen Anne along with the Moulin and QE2 in the same season – even though he ended up on OR 129, most of his runs during that that time were around 125 to 126 which I think is where Baaeed sits at the moment.

No Ian,
What I meant was with so far back to the third You don’t need to believe Order Of Australia ran to form
to think Baaeed ran to the same form as Newbury and Real World improved from 3 1/4 lengths behind to 1 1/4 – for a career best by the second.Value Is EverythingJune 14, 2022 at 15:36 #1601982The thing that always stuck in my mind with that Frankel performance was that in the third last furlong he was clocked at 10.58sec which was faster than any of the furlongs clocked by any of the sprinters that ran in the 5F King’s Stand later in the day.
He was 0.69s off the course record on ground offical described as good to soft (all other race times were slower than standard), his time of 1m 37.85s compares with Baaeed’s of 1m 37.76s on good to firm ground.
Comparisons in this case (at least at this time) are simply laughable.
