He is truly indestructible.
My heart was pacing when Kieran Fallon saw daylight and inhaled Beheshtam. Pity that – turned to the left of my screen and the yellow jacket is screaming away.
October 4, 2009 at 18:40 #251753Great stuff. Delighted for Oxx and Kinane. We don’t see horses like this that often.
October 4, 2009 at 18:42 #251754Yeah, good run. Reminded me of New Approach.
October 4, 2009 at 18:44 #251756Im in New Zealand, the hype is such that I have got up in the middle of the night to watch this horse, second time I have done this. What a way to win, what an amazing horse.
October 4, 2009 at 18:45 #251757No way will Sea The Stars win. His Derby form isn’t as good as his Guineas form IMO. That could be down to the slow early pace but then you’d have to suggest he would improve over the trip for a faster gallop. Can’t see that being the case for a second.
Stacelita, Fame And Glory and Conduit – its between those three nothing else is good enough.
hahahahahahahahahaha
October 4, 2009 at 18:47 #251758"Will he stay?"
Possibly the numb-nuts question of the year, and it’s awarded to…..you know who you are

Always more in hope, I’d say.
The greatest horse ever foaled.

Strange race, looked slow as nobody followed the pacemakers. Whats the time? Funny character that Youmzain.
Why do some horses so excel themselves under such specific conditions as this race.SHL
October 4, 2009 at 18:52 #251761Now that is a horse! So was Dancing Brave though. Let’s hope he takes to Anita, big ask. If any can do it, this one can.

Surely he should be given a rest now? Im against trainers being overly cautious and aiming for one race to the detriment of the sport in general but one can take it too far also. He has done enough.

October 4, 2009 at 18:59 #251764It’s as good as been confirmed that he goes to the BC Classic, has it not?

I agree with that. I think any track other than SA then go for it. But our horses don’t do well on the west coast after a full season. Like I say, a big ask.
I’m not so sure it’s a good move, but we’ll see. He’ll surely go there. 4/5 to win? Hmmm, i’d be just watching at those odds.October 4, 2009 at 19:02 #251766The bloody french…..
Dirtyiest ARC in a long time….the amount of bumps etc was amazing to the naked eye.
The horse is the greatest ever…..

How he won after pulling so hard and being bumped all around the place was truly the greatest spectacle i have ever seen in the sport.
October 4, 2009 at 19:17 #251770He just always finds something within himself regardless of the situation he faces.
October 4, 2009 at 19:35 #251774I am at Longchamp and actually happy to say I feel priviliged to have been here today.
Sea The Stars was cheered and clapped out onto the course before the race.
In all my years of racing I have never seen an atmosphere at a racecourse like there is here this afternoon. You had to be here to actually "feel" the roar as he hit the front.
I have never seen a horse like him and I don’t think I ever will.
An emotional day and I am not afraid to admit I shed a tear.
Also cerdit to Youmzain – the "bridesmaid" again.
October 4, 2009 at 19:53 #251779I hope I’ve managed to record the race, because my phone rang just before the start and some visitors arrived just as it finished…all I can remember of the race itself is pacing up and down the living room screaming come on Sea the Stars and seeing him boxed in and thinking it was all going badly wrong….how privileged we are to see this horse. How I wish I could have been there. I do hope that he doesn’t go to America, though; he’s got nothing more to prove……
October 4, 2009 at 20:05 #251782Impossible for anyone to think this horse isn’t up there with the very best we’ve seen.
One can argue that he sits at the very top – victory in Santa Anita and the debate will be over, in my opinion.
A hard season? OTT by the time of the Arc?
Did you see how fresh he was early on? Did you see how he quickened?
Quite simply, we have never seen a horse with such a perfect blend of physical and mental attributes. He is a one-off and, to quote a phrase greatly used in this sport, a horse in a lifetime.
He pulled early, encountered traffic problems, got bumped more times than a TESCO shopper at Christmas, yet still he remianed composed and quickened in the manner a top class miler would be proud.
Dammit, May seems such a distant memory that I forgot he was a top class miler. Sorry, he still is THE top class miler in the country.
The doubters were asking if he could put up a performance to match that of Dancing Brave. I have seen footage of his Arc triumph and the victory of Sea The Stars was even more…electrifying.
What can you say about Youmzain. Unlucky to meet such good horses? Frustrating? Endearing? It takes a good horse to finish runner-up in such a prestigious event on three successive occasions.
How many good horses has he defeated in those three races?
Conduit was never going to be at his best around here. Ran well, nonetheless. Will be very hard to beat when defending his Turf crown at the Breeders Cup.
Only one horse stands between Sea The Star and…what is greater than immortality? That one horse, should she take her chance (maybe not if connections witnessed THAT today) begins with ‘Z’.
I do have one gripe about the media response. Completely OTT, in my opinion!!
Sea The Stars may be the brightest ‘Star’ in the galaxy, but Kauto Star is the brightest in the universe.
Let him regain the Arc and win three King George’s (the diluted Ascot version) and then we’ll start talking!!

I looked to see where Conduit was and he was about level with Sea the Stars when Ryan Moore said go. It was only a second or two I had taken my eyes of Sea the Stars and when I looked back he was 2 lengths clear from 3 lengths behind…things a friggin machine…….I reckon if they say he’s retiring Timeform will put him up to 145 now if not and he goes to the States he’ll be put up to 144 and then up to 146 the highest of all time if he wins
