Olivier Peslier added of Vision D’Etat: "I came a bit late but he finished really well."
Ah, so the plan they devised to avoid having a battle royal with Spanish Moon was to arrive late.
Sneaky chappies, these Frenchies.

Kinky.
Vision D’Etat was falling asleep on the first right-hander. Even if Peslier was quicker to react and let his mount go, the bird had flown already.
Again, another horse who I believe has been "trialled" according to plan. At least there is a very competitive contest brewing behind the Oxx runner.
September 14, 2009 at 23:25 #248868Libaud said on Monday: "He is impeccable and didn’t have a hard race. The colt was a little rusty and the ground a little firm for him. He wasn’t wound up for that race and was outpaced coming into the straight. It was an excellent trial for the Arc and I am very happy."
September 15, 2009 at 03:02 #248905At least 16 runners? I very much doubt that but look forward to you listing them.

September 15, 2009 at 03:31 #248908Yes, Cima De Triomphe has packed his shorts, and is heading Down Under.
Ask is ground dependent, and might run in Canada instead.

Look Here ?
Aizanovski/Magadan?
Crossharbour??
Yeats
Rip Van Winkle (Mastercraftsman can do the QEII)
Wiener Walzer? (Horses can get supplemented a week beforehand.)September 15, 2009 at 03:50 #248912i still stcick to my opinion that if longchamps a bog on arc day sariska wins on the bridle and stacellita just didnt stay and i also agree about the fact that how dylan thomas didnt get thrown out for doing the same thing in the arc is a joke n im a huge dylan thomas fan . but i dont agree wiv the comments of the stacellita fan up there . jusd excuses i no u cud say same about sariska but going into season during a race is a pretty major thing for a 3 yr old filly to handle when there was no sign of it b4 the race. also the ground shes good on good ground but jusd isnt top class on it . bells horses are still in bad form but theyll be picking up soon enough. im praying for a down pour cause lets all face facts if its good or better stacellita nor sariska nor fame and glory nor no one will get close to beating the mighty sea the stars it just cannot be beaten on fastish ground .
September 15, 2009 at 03:51 #248913also credit were cradits due dar re mi has now won 2 group 1s in a row and doesnt seem 2 be getting any recognition a horse thats improving at a vast rate of knots and on fast ground / good ground should be 2nd in the arc .
September 15, 2009 at 03:52 #248914STS must be shaking in his boots after seeing that lot today

No doubt he won’t be but he isn’t as yet a proven stayer and is ground dependent which certainly doesn’t make him an even money chance or even a certainty as some people seem to be thinking.
Cavalryman is an interesting one because like Stacelita he will come on for the run and he showed decent acceleration but I wonder if the faster gallop and softer ground would find him out but he does seem to stay well.
Fame and Glory hasn’t done a lot wrong and the added distance will be in his favour but does he have the speed to win it. Conduit is also a certain stayer but I think he just below top class and should run his race but I doubt whether he would be good enough.
Daremi beat Stacelita who was tiring near the end for a number of reasons and was all out to do so. She probably ran the race of her life to get up on the line and if she goes for the Arc she should run well but surely won’t be involved at the finish.
September 15, 2009 at 04:01 #248915I forgot to mention Sariska who does go well on softer ground but there are questions for her to answer as well.
Youmzain is 33/1 too high considering his course form and form on softer ground.
Stacelita has stamina questions to answer and probably won’t be produced as early in the Arc than she was in the Vermeille but will be strip fitter and more at home on the likely softer ground.September 15, 2009 at 04:15 #248917i still stcick to my opinion that if longchamps a bog on arc day sariska wins on the bridle and stacellita just didnt stay and i also agree about the fact that how dylan thomas didnt get thrown out for doing the same thing in the arc is a joke n im a huge dylan thomas fan . but i dont agree wiv the comments of the stacellita fan up there . jusd excuses i no u cud say same about sariska but going into season during a race is a pretty major thing for a 3 yr old filly to handle when there was no sign of it b4 the race. also the ground shes good on good ground but jusd isnt top class on it . bells horses are still in bad form but theyll be picking up soon enough. im praying for a down pour cause lets all face facts if its good or better stacellita nor sariska nor fame and glory nor no one will get close to beating the mighty sea the stars it just cannot be beaten on fastish ground .
I didn’t offer excuses just stating the obvious but Daremi was all out and ran the race of her life to win the Vermeille where as she was always holding Sariska at York and Sariska is a proven stayer. There were other factors I know.
September 15, 2009 at 04:27 #248918I remember her jockey Jamie Spencer saying after Sariska’s defeat to Da re mi " No excuses she just wasn’t fast enough".
Whereas C Lemaire said after the Vermeille " I was happy, she accerelated well and will improve for the run. She was keen and fresh early on". No doubt they know better than anyone. For me Sariska can only place if it is heavy ground but she most certainly on’t win on the bridle. If she does go past a horse on the bridle itwill be the Ballydoyle rabbit but I would even doubt that.

Jamie would be as sick as a parrot and being a tiny bit flippant when he said that. There’s no getting away from the fact M Bell had forgotten what a winner looked like during that period. Sariska woudn’t be going if they thought she was at her best that day so I wouldn’t be too quick to dismiss her.
I agree with you that Sea the Stars is an unproven stayer and every trainer in the race will be aware the only way to beat him is get him off the bridle…….the way he has been winning over 1m2f could be agaist him but he travels so easily he should get the trip…the big question is will he be as affective over it?
So every trainer will be out to enure this is a very fast pace especially AOB. Be fast if STS wins of it that’s for sure.
I’ve backed Conduit more times than I should have albeit EW as I thought StS won’t run but they were saying last night even if it’s g/s they will run him……..I’ve always thought StS would go in it and his performance with cut at York was IMO the best of his life. My hope is they go very fast and stamina prevails and nothing in the race to date has shown a better combination of speed and stamina than the Stoute horse.
Of course Sea the Stars could change that..One things for sure. The Arc is without the first time when things are not stacked in his favour and he can prove without doubt he deserves to be up there with the best.
Conduit Mastercraftsman Rip Van Winkle and Fame and Glory at 1m2f is not the same as Fame and Glory and Conduit at 1m4f and although I couldn’t have Fame and Glory he should put up a better pefomance over a longer trip but Conduit would have to be 7lbs better over the Arc trip than the Eclipse. Ask couldn’t go the pace last year early on but he’s omproved big time since then.Finished strongly in about 6th last year and could be a good ew bet.
1. Sea the Stars
2. Conduit
3. Askis how I see it paanong out with Sariska the only possible surprise package.
September 15, 2009 at 22:11 #248973Aiden o brian said that the ICS was Fames first run in his autumn campain so i would expect fame to improve but its all about Sea the Stars

And i honestly think we havent seen Sea the Stars best yet amazingly i think he could go quicker!

And where are you going to find a horse to make him go quicker?

No wonder Oxx wants to race in the Arc now, there is no contenders to pose a serious threat it looks, even on soft he will win this, although Spanish Moon is still massive value who I said was a good bet a few month ago and was trading at a massive price on the exchanges before today, he put Vision D’Etat in his place today and I’m pretty sure he should have Kieren Fallon on board as I would expect Moore to take the ride on Conduit, Stoute is well handed in this with 3 runners it looks like but Oxx wont be scared of any of them.
Spanish Moon for a place looks a very good bet.
Very strange assessment Red. Spanish Moon is rated well below Conduit, Fallon has been booked to ride Youzmain or so I believe, Moore will undoubtedly ride Conduit.
It is most likely therefore Conduit goes to post as far as all are concerned with a better chance than Spansih Moon and less chance than Sea the Stars. So either you think hat’s the first 3 home , I;m mad or your bookie pays ew on the first 6

BTW Sir Michael Stoute said half heartedly Spanish Moon will probably run in the Arc……..BTW I’m told it was SM’s racing manager who was the one who said the horse was going to the Arc and Stoute just agreed and that’s why he said he’s a probable (not a definite)….I don’t think he consideres him a serious challenger as nice a horse as he is.
September 16, 2009 at 19:57 #249088Conduit, to me, still looks the chief threat to Sea The Stars. He’ll be more at home with the 12 furlongs and his turn of foot will be far more potent. I can see him getting to STS but not going past him.
Having said that, Sea The Stars looked as though he was peaking in the Irish Champion and I suspect the Arc will be the race where he’ll really turn on the style.
