It is a fairly complete method which people can adapt to their own preferences. I was thinking the other day of the positive factors that I don’t include and it’s quite a long list.
For instance, I don’t do anything with trainers, and there are several statistics relating to them that could be used. Also, the RP signposts page is filled with data that could be incorporated into a ratings method. I have a limited amount of time, therefore I concentrate on factors which I feel are the most important, without over-complicating things. Other people might have different preferences, but we should end up with many common selections.
One final but important point is that my method doesn’t result in a tissue of prices to compare with the actual odds available. The main reason for this is that it’s too difficult to work out accurate prices without introducing a lot more information into the equation. The qualifying horses are invariably well fancied (and some would argue overbet by the time the race starts). You have to decide whether any horse that qualifies is an acceptable price and I cannot (as yet) come up with a logical set of rules to do this. For me, it is an intuitive process, as it is for many people. If this method can produce a small profit at SP using a fairly sensible staking plan(that doesn’t chase losses), I’m pretty sure that it can be improved upon by only betting when you feel the odds are favourable. <br>

Due to a technical problem (USB failure), I will be unable to post until my laptop is repaired.
The problem seems to have resolved itself after a lot of tinkering and fiddling about. <br>Today there were ten qualifiers producing 2 winners at 9/1 & 2/1, 3 seconds, 1 third, and 4 unplaced. Without giving details of ratings, the qualifiers were:<br>Locksmith, Lady Zephyr, Ulusaba, Ladalko, Noble Baron, Lutea, Family Venture, Kempsey, Shannon Arms, and Buy On The Red.<br>The returns were 95pts profit on stakes of 245points.
