I think the favourite and French Guineas winner Brametot could be very good, but I think Laffon-Parias’ Recoletos could be even better. He’s proven over the trip having won at 10f + three times now, while the fav isn’t certain to get it. Chantilly are to get thunderstorms tonight and some rain tomorrow, so I think Recoletos will get the soft ground he prefers, having won on soft and heavy before. If anyone has access to a French going-report I would be very grateful. Seems strange that I had backed Waldgeist for the Derby but amn’t for this, but I don’t think conditions will allow him to reverse the form.
I guess I’ll know a lot more about his chances tommorrow as he beat Best Solution, Capri and Douglas McArthur last time out.
Recoletos 4/1.

Not been updated since 30th may but they usually get to grips before a group 1 event so should be an update tomorrow. I’ve not looked at this race yet but its safe to say my profit has come from the Frenchies this year, i’m finding it a lot tougher on these here borders.
Good luck with the selection.
oops, I was looking at Maisons-Laffitte for some or no reason. Claims they are predicting good ground for Sunday even with potential storms at Chantilly.
June 3, 2017 at 13:03 #1303252Thanks a lot Chivers, not ideal if their predictions are correct, better ground will be sure to help the foreign raiders such as Orderofthegarter. It’s a fantastic race this, and we might even see the Arc winner come out of it.
June 4, 2017 at 10:36 #1303440They are being really slow on updating this site. They are usually very reliable on a group 1 day.
June 4, 2017 at 10:58 #1303447Going for Rivet in this today, was really impressed with his run in The Craven against Eminent and really like his Sire Fastnet Rock also being by a Galileo mare he will stay the extra distance.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 4, 2017 at 11:17 #1303451Think PLUMATIC 22/1
Won very well on debut not win last time but could bounce back today
June 4, 2017 at 11:23 #1303452Best of luck Triptych
Do you, or anybody for that matter, know where I can watch the race? I think ATR might be showing it but I’m not sure.June 4, 2017 at 11:32 #1303453I think I might have to put a little ew on him myself Darren. He’s beautifully bred, trained by a master and the horse who beat him last time is no donkey either. 22/1 is a nice price so I’m adding Plumatic e/w.

Perhaps Steve might be the go too man for this info as he follows the French racing. JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 4, 2017 at 12:34 #1303458Brametot is fairly short as would be expected but looks a classy player. He looks versatile regarding ground so I’m hoping he runs a big race.
I’m a little bit bemused at the prices in the group 2 over 12f. Silverwave is around 11/10 and Talismanic can be backed at 7/2 even though he finished ahead of Silverwave in the triomphe on good ground.
I wonder if Mr. Caution will have any faith left in Senga. I think she’ll run well in the group 2 fillies mile. All her form was on good ground so it wasn’t a surprise to see her not handle soft conditions at all.
This is all opinion based on good ground though so I hope it is as I’m just going in what the racing post says

I think Silverwave is so short on a line through Cloth of Stars, when he finished 0.75l 3rd to him in the Gr.1 Prix de Ganay last month. I’d love if Silverwave hoses in and gives that form a boost, as I’m on Cloth of Stars for the Arc.
June 4, 2017 at 13:22 #1303465I’m on Cloth of Stars for the Arc.
Good spot Voleur on that one, just put £4 at 100.0 on him for The Arc also.
June 4, 2017 at 14:04 #1303471Thanks Botchy, he’s one I’m keen to follow for this season. Hopefully we see him in the Prince of Wales or King George.
June 4, 2017 at 14:29 #1303474Triptych – and for others interested, you can watch the race on the France Galop website, all you have to do is register a free account, it only takes seconds.

My thoughts exactly Darren, he’s the horse that’s most open to improvement and
the trainer mentioned that he really needed the run last time out. I could have taken
the 22/1 this morning, but I’ve taken the 20/1 with Sky as they are paying 4 places.
With the way things went yesterday, expect the O’Brien 3rd string, Taj Mahal, to bolt
in at 66/1. Damn, I’ve just said that, which means I can’t not have a couple of quid
on him now
