I got that one spot on! Probably have to wait another 20 years for my next Arc winner. In the end the mud just blunted Enable’s class, but she gave it what she had. Sottsass was able grind it out, but In Swoop might be interesting going in to next year.

Coolmore must be raging as mogul would have won that imho. As poor an arc as I can remember. Enable way below her best. Whole race an anti climax.

I laid Enable because I couldn’t see her winning on the heavy ground.

    Well done winners.

    :yahoo:

And I got a refund on Serpentine. Well done bookies

I have to say I’ve never been one in the romantic Enable story but that was a little depressing to watch. I’m convinced they will run her one more time however. Love v Enable in the breeders cup is on!

Stradivarius is coming back next next year again it seems, so he might go away for the season now

I wouldnt be rushing to back Enable in the Breeders Cup yet Frenchy. John Gosden said in RP they were going to wait a week and then Khalid Abdulla will decide if she runs again. I think she could well be retired.
Why risk her going to Keeneland and running against Love I thought they wanted to keep those two apart.

    Personally I think she’s done enough…
time now to go and make baby Enables.

I think Enable was crying for a retirement a year ago. Only Covid-19 and travel restrictions allowed her to finish 2nd in the Eclipse and win two conditions races in 2020. Or one conditions race and the King George that never was.

It would be very interesting to see if Ghayyath will go for the Classic over his favourite 1m2f trip or for the turf. I’d love to see him in the Classic.

Does anyone else still think that Gosden is a genius when it comes to race planning? Reverting a 2m+ specialist to 1m4f that late in his career? Telling us prior to the race that the ground WILL beat her (Enable) and so on….

The owner wanted to run strad in the arc

He pays the bills he makes the final decision

Id think if you asked gosden privately which race he would’ve preferred he’d have said ascot

I hope Enable is retired. She has almost ruined the whole season. Ghaiyyath stuffs her, oh she’s not fit. Bottled a Yorkshire Oaks with Love, and deprived Mishriff of a run in the Arc. Sod off please.

The owner wanted to run strad in the arc

The same owner who owns English King and decides that Tom Marquand is the wrong jockey, despite being 2-2 on the horse with two effortless wins.

Just paying the bills isn’t always good enough.

I got the impression from the quotes from Bjorn Nielsen in RP after the race and the very fact they decided to go for the Arc this season when they haven’t in the past that there is a possibility Enable might not be the only one getting retired – the bit about Stradivarius owing them nothing in particular. He’ll be 7 next year and bar the possibility of equalling Yeats record in the Ascot Gold Cup there is nothing left for him to do, particularly if the prize money stays similar to what it is and there is no stayers bonus incentive. We’ll have to wait and see on that one but these are dark days for the sport re prize money and there is the risk/reward conundrum for the owner, what if he were heaven forbid to get a life ending injury at some point and they miss out on what will surely be a long career as a National Hunt stallion.

On the Arc…. very winnable RP have given Sottsass the same RPR he got when he was 3rd last year!

    It’s the 8/1 that’s tempting me Jac!

Enables ruined the season TTC?

Weird comments on here this morning. JG said yesterday Enable didn’t have a hard race because it was a 2/3 furlong sprint at the end and she will tell them whether she wants one more race or not. No-one on here is better judged to make that decision than JG is. Ridiculous.

Enable has not shown once this year that she wouldn’t want to come back next year in fact. They will do what’s best for her but it would be a sad end to an amazing career for her last run to be in a bog that she hated. I do think she’ll run as long as she wants to.

JG also said he could not tell BN no this year for the Arc and Strad. He did last year but this year he has no choice. It was BN decision. And so what, why not have a go. Don’t see the issue there.

Again JG yesterday hinted that strad will stay in training and go for a 4th Gold Cup

I’ve just watched the race back this morning, In Swoop and Raabihah are ones to keep an eye on for next season I think. Maxime Guyon took a pull on Raabihah when in a perfect position on that ground you’d think. Very strange move, which funnily enough benefitted stablemate Sottsass perfectly. She then came home quite well on ground she wouldn’t have enjoyed that much. Beautifully bred and obviously so highly thought of.

In Swoop made the maddest move of the day. Ronan Thomas, I believe is in his 40s so experienced jockey, but had the perfect position, but then let Sottsass take it and he ended up getting a little swamped on the rail in 5th/6th.

The way In Swoop then came home from there proves to me actually, that he was probably the best horse in the race on the day and that strange move to let Sottsass take the perfect position cost him the race.

Soft ground 12F next season, one to watch.

What do you mean by this? Surely if the owner decides “why not, he owes me nothing” that’s his decision and not Gosdens?

Are you actually saying you don’t think Gosden is very good at training horses or have i missed the point here
