Just heard about Snow fairy…very sad, takes a lot of interest out of the race
Really? She hasn’t won a race over the trip since July 2010 and was a well beaten third last year. Was racing for a place at best.
As for Sea Moon you would have thought from the midweek interview that in all likelihood he was going to run but presumably connections have given you the correct information?
September 30, 2012 at 16:29 #414714fely.Aidan said that Joseph could not do the weight but a decision will be made Tuesday or Wednesday whether he runs or not without Joseph in the saddle. So keep your powder dry.
September 30, 2012 at 19:24 #414726I think the odds overall are pretty decent on the front 3 as Camelot is highly unlikely to appear.
I find it damn near impossible to find a decent outsider now.
Ladbrokes are 4/1 4/1 5/1 on the three horses Stan James are 7/2 about, so if you think Stan James is decent then you must have a different way of assessing value than I have.
Part two is pretty much my point, they have locked it down to a handful of potential winners on the book, yet offer measly odds on the others.
I ran a betting office for 10 years and we used Stan James odds for early prices/Sporting events. Punters were generally unimpressed, particularly on Ante Post betting. I am not saying they are a bad bookie, just pretty stingy in this case. I won’t take 7/2 on anything in the race, not even Frankel!!
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
October 1, 2012 at 17:04 #414834Cologne race-track (and training ground) has been declared a prohibited area due to occurances of infectious anaemia – race-meetings on 3rd and 14th October cancelled.

Horses at Cologne-race-track are not allowed to leave the area for 3 months, that means among others:
Danedream made her last race at Baden-Baden!
October 1, 2012 at 17:37 #414837Parlo, although my German is not great in the first article it seems that the Danedream situation is uncertain. Can you clarify?
October 1, 2012 at 18:04 #414840From the first paragraph it would seem clear that she can’t run in the Arc and is in effective quarantine for the next three months.
October 1, 2012 at 18:07 #414842The actual news from the DVR (the "German Jockey Club") is from 6 pm – so it is very hot, but it says, that within a kilometre around the Cologne race-track no horse is allowed to enter or leave the area. It is definitely said in that news, that Damedream can’t race on Sunday at Longchamp.
You must know that 500 of a total of some 3,200 horse in training in GER are stalled at Cologne race-track (important trainers like Schiergen, Hickst, Löwe). So the situation is very critical for the whole German racing for the rest of the season.
I don’t know whether the DVR is able to arrange some agreement with the veterinary authorities to take sound / uninfected horses out of the prohibited area. This is what Racing Post said some 30 min ago:
"
German authorities meeting to discuss whether to impose travel ban on horses stabled in and around Cologne racecourse. "It is concerning and serious but we hope it is sorted quickly and Danedream can travel," Barbe tells the Racing Post
"
October 1, 2012 at 18:21 #414844I see the bookies have taken her off the books, Such a shame do hope she gets a run though as a racing fan hope camelot does appears as well from a punting perspective though it would be better for me if they don`t run!
October 1, 2012 at 18:24 #414847That news plus the fact that Shareta and Saonois appear to be better on a sound surface means I do not think there will be too much water artificially applied to the course.
Those backing Nathaniel and Sea Moon will be hoping for some Mancunian weather in Paris this week.October 2, 2012 at 12:34 #414918Nathaniel misses the race.
Following the defection of Danedream and Snow Fairy, a miserable week all in all.

October 2, 2012 at 12:50 #414920Miserable news all round. 3 genuine stars missing Europe’s premier race.
I wonder if Sir Henry is beginning to wish he’d have thrown in Frankel after all……………
October 2, 2012 at 12:56 #414921at this rate, there won’t be any runners left on sunday. maybe the japanese horse will get a walkover
October 2, 2012 at 13:01 #414925Looking at the race now, surely Camelot has to win it to gain any sort of recognition in the future, aside from simply being the best of an awful bunch of 3 year olds
October 2, 2012 at 13:29 #414933This is getting ridiculous they dropping like flys. Was quite looking forward to the race but not going to be the same with 3 top hoses out, now hope atleast Camelot turns up but even if he does and wins it would be argued he wow a weak one. Oh well.
October 2, 2012 at 13:38 #414934… I wonder if Sir Henry is beginning to wish he’d have thrown in Frankel after all …
There is an option of supplementary entry on Thursday, isn’t it?

I Ain’t no expert but now that Frankel has learned to settle so nicely he should be in the lineup. That’s my opinion and i’m sticking to it.Shame
October 2, 2012 at 15:30 #414942As stated I got on orfevre at 25s the good thing with the non runners is if he doesn’t win I won’t be thinking maybe it was on off day because in all honesty there is no better chance than now.
It’s funny after snow fairy and danedream I joked to a mate maybe shareta will fall sick and Saonois €100,000 Entry fee won’t clear… A few hours later instead nathaniel is sick,I’m starting to believe it’s fate orfevre will win!
