Am going to start again and try to do a DLAP thread properly. Comments, criticism and your own fancies most welcome. I’ll be sticking to jumpers mostly with probably the odd more-enthusiasm-than-sense swerve onto the Flat.
My first selection gets weight from all his rivals which should be a help on the forecast going; the second is a horse whose form this summer I really like:
Tipp 3.25 Ex Patriot 5-1 1pt win LOST
Tipp 5.05 Rathvinden Evs 1pt win WONSo breaking even after day 1.
September 30, 2017 at 23:31 #1319553Good luck with the thread, grassy.
I like the way you’re thinking with Ex Patriot. Fit from comeback, similar rating to Jer’s Girl (gets weight from her), sharp track to suit…
Hovering over the trigger myself – think I’m going to join you.
September 30, 2017 at 23:31 #1319554Good luck Grass, and look forward to seeing your jumpers through the winter.
I’ll be playing those 2 races, and I’ll be with (shock horror) Ivan Grozny, and The Wests Awake.
October 1, 2017 at 23:33 #1319788Ex Patriot didn’t run badly, just got tired in the muck. I underestimated Jezki…made the mistake of seeing the star on the cap not the solid white cap and thinking, well my horse will beat Jer’s Girl and they reckon she will beat Jezki, so I wrote him off. Should’ve remembered Jessie’s horses are back in form.
Rathvinden jumped and stayed very well. The West’s Awake and Conrad Hastings both jumped quite novicey, wasting energy and lengths on ground that would have inconvenienced them more that the winner. Looked like just green-ness in both cases rather than lacking scope or being naturally bad jumpers or disliking it, so stacks of room for improvement both horses.
No bets for me tomorrow, don’t know enough about the horses on those two cards to back anything.
October 6, 2017 at 23:41 #1320437Should stay on his feet this time- jumped well till the last LTO:
Fairyhouse 1.45 Bamako Moriviere 5-2 1pt win
October 7, 2017 at 14:08 #1320549Bamako M obliged so I will play again today, on a horse on a nice chase mark whose jumping has improved, a handy little sort who may appreciate a sharp left handed track on better ground than he can get at home at the moment
Fontwell 2.30 Summer Storm 0.5pt EW 17-2
October 7, 2017 at 14:40 #1320551Nope, not the engine to go with the bigger horses.
Net +1.5 so will sit out the rest of the day.October 7, 2017 at 14:52 #1320557Decent racing tomorrow Grass, so you can have another go then
October 7, 2017 at 18:05 #1320599Yep lots of nice horses starting their winter campaigns but might be doing more watching than betting cos I can’t find anything to beat the favourites. Did you see that Alamein is running in the 1620 at Kelso tomo, but not in maroon+white- Giggi have handed the poor beast his P45
October 8, 2017 at 23:51 #1320780Did we not predict that for Alamein?? I only seen about 2 fences of the race, as it clashed with The Munster National, but even then, he managed to belt one. Definitely not my best shout that about him, but hopefully he can give his new owners some fun, and maybe the odd win too.
Well done today with your ew’s in the big one, but what about that winner
October 9, 2017 at 00:03 #1320783I know, never saw that coming. I was a bit lazy looking at him, I said that the horse he beat for his win- Crest- hadn’t progressed but I had only looked at the ratings. Looking up the form properly now- Crest’s next race he split Call It Magic and Phil’s Magic…who have both won since. Lazy research.
October 9, 2017 at 00:10 #1320785As regards Alamein, I thought they might at least have tried him over a trip. Unless they thought he just didn’t have the class or would never jump well enough to win any Nationals. Didn’t see Kelso race yet but sounds like he did nothing. Hope he hasn’t buggered his back or something with that fall he had. It looked like a right purler and I thought he would have been off for a long while.
October 13, 2017 at 23:00 #1321423I wasn’t going to put my Flat bets on here, since I sort of think they don’t really count, but I suspect I fritter away more on them than I think. So up they go, to try to keep the handbrake on my betting fingers!
I get BOG but topped up anyway when Mirsaale went out to 100-1. But for the purposes of this thread will not assume BOG and calculate any returns on the price when I placed the bet.Only Chepstow bet is Label des Obeaux- was impressed with his Ayr win. Slightly tempted by Alcala too.
Newmarket
3.00 Threeandfourpence 50-1 0.5pt EW
3.40 Byron Flyer 25-1 0.5pt EW
First Mohican 50-1 0.5pt EW
Mirsaale 50-1 + 100-1 0.5ptEWChepstow 3.45 Label des Obeaux 7-1 1pt win only
October 14, 2017 at 15:17 #1321619New 3.40 Laws of Spin 25-1 0.5pt EW
October 15, 2017 at 09:44 #1321730No returns from yesterday, apart from Byron Flyer sneaking a place.
Now -2.5 for the thread.
One bet today- claimer takes 7lb off Ballyoisin so in I goCork 1550 Ballyoisin 7-2 1pt win
October 15, 2017 at 10:05 #1321731Good luck with him today Grass, he’ll be making my perms, so hope I don’t jinx you
October 15, 2017 at 20:30 #1321842That’s the second time Ballyoisin has given me a return. Benefited from the BOG but just counting the original odds he just puts the thread back in the black.
+1
