Usually strong on one here, but not the case this year, but having an Antepost anyway…..

Justanotherbottle as usual appeals, as does Dakota Gold and Call Me Ginger.
For now though, I’ll go with Project Dante, who got the hang of it late on last time, and though one to top up properly once full EW on the day, happy with 33’s, even though I could easily beat that on the day if actually declared.
Project Dante 33’s
September 8, 2022 at 15:13 #1613794Project Dante still 33’s, and hopefully beat that when I top up to seven places, but I’ll see how it goes.
Took the early 25’s for Justanotherbottle, which I thought too big, but he’s going to be win only, with a view to getting that in running (should he come out the stalls ok)
Still like the other pair mentioned, especially Call Me Ginger at a price, but two enough
Justanotherbottle 25’s

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"September 11, 2022 at 11:13 #1614239I would have rowed in with the favourite here Venture however my reading of the trip requirements for Whenthedealisdone lead me to suspect the extra half furlong will prove the geldings undoing.
I suggest one just checks his record to make yourself aware and if you are happy by all means follow your reasoning.
good luck to allSeptember 11, 2022 at 12:04 #1614252Another thing re the favourite is he bled in the Stewards Cup. He’s always promised plenty and I backed him for this last year thinking he was a group horse in the making and he ran pretty well just not good enough on the day. It was a very curious sequence of events/very generous piece of handicapping that led to him dropping 9lbs from the season start before his win last time, not as if he was some 8 year old handicapper who’d thrown in a couple of bad ones. The bad news is he won like the handicapper had dropped a clanger and has been bumped right back up to a career high mark.
On a similar note Nomadic Empire is one I backed a couple of times last year thinking he’d go on to better things. He too has been very generously dropped from a perch of 103 right down to 93, slightly more understandable as he’s ran a few shockers this season but when they do that its obvious its not their handicap mark ailing them and he’s looked much more like it lately. I’ve backed him today as I think he could well do what Whenthedealinsdone did last time off this sort of mark. I was very close to adding Burning Cash as his run style suggests a cavalry charge and this extra yardage could suit (he’s yet to really have either) but we’ve lost 3 of the pace angles in Zargun, Bergerac and Night On Earth and although it’ll be a good pace it might not be the collapse I could envisage before.
September 11, 2022 at 12:42 #1614264I think it’s Good to Soft on the straight course.

Instead I’ll just have a sneaky few quid on just in case he doesn’t mind the ground at all. Full brother to Oxted who won this race, progressive this season and form of last race franked nicely.
I’ll probably be more annoyed if he does win as I’ve really scaled back on what I’d normally put on, there’s just so much to potentially lose on today.September 11, 2022 at 13:12 #1614277On the ground I’ve got to have a go with Sunday sovereign , some good lines of form with juice in the ground and a nice e.w price
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
