Glor na Mara could be very smart, I think he could be another top class Bolger colt. As I have stated before in a separate thread, Jesica Harrington’s filly Laughing Lashes looks very smart, and will be better at three IMO.

Interesting that there’s little comment about the fine team riding in yesterday’s race. Strong Suit was virtually forced to go forward given that those on his inside seemed intent on holding up to his speed at any cost and making the race into a sprint. The horse probably would have been better off missing the start altogether and forcing the rest into plan B mode.
I loved the way the Coolmore rider in pink took a good look over his left shoulder once beaten, saw Murtagh looking for room, then grabbed the right rein and said "After you Johnny". The winner gave his stablemate a good brush off on the way by as if to say "You took your sweet time making room for me". That’s not racing it’s just another Coolmore inspired farce.
I’m not sure the best horse won on the day. Anyone backing Zoffany for the Guineas based on that win needs their heads read. We’ve all seen how much Canford Cliffs improved once he settled with a good lead. I’m sure Strong Suit would have been lengths better with a lead and some cover yesterday. A shame the opposition is continually allowed to play the team game.
August 9, 2010 at 09:39 #311814Who forced Richard Hughes to go forward?? apart from snow mountain who was the pacemaker all the other ballydoyle horse ran on merit the only horse who kept tabs on as was the bulger horse, and what was wrong with sm jockey letting zoffany up the rails?
August 9, 2010 at 09:46 #311816A Coolmore farce?
In fact if you look at the race you will see that the stable mate didn’t move over in time to ensure victory in fact he was ridden on his merits until the final 1f where he virtually stopped as he is 2 stones below the level of the rest. Zoffany came up the rail and beat the english raider with a superior turn of foot and better jockeyship.
Hughsie drawn out furthest was always going to struggle from that draw and should have dropped him in. The lack of course knowledge or even a case could be made for a very poor tactical ride. He thought he could show up and win but it turned out in the end he wasn’t even placed if a 3 runner race.
August 9, 2010 at 12:09 #311836I feel certain Hannon has as big a yard of 2yo’s as Ballydoyle so why not run a couple to gain experience just like Aidan did?
August 9, 2010 at 12:36 #311844The fact that Hannons two year olds are in different ownership would be a key factor Andy

August 9, 2010 at 13:32 #311858Tactics are geared to win races. Like the military say when the battle starts the plans go out the window. When the gate opens you have but one objective;to win the race. How many jockeys make moves with no goal in mind? They will even move to get out of a box without considering what they will do after they get out.In other words there must be a correct time and place to get out in order to go on and win.You make one run to take you to the winning post first. Not two runs; not to "take the lead".Murtagh made one run to lead at the post.Perfect.
