Can totally see why Icare Allen is heading the market. A horse I really like, and surprised I haven’t started following him yet. Left him for now though.

Jody Ted was very impressive last time, and I reckon that 20’s is very fair.

The two I’m swaying towards right now are Chantry House and Flight Deck

Chantry had looked fairly regressive, and his run last time, I thought he was looked after a bit, and with no fences to get in the way, he might just come on for it.

I bet him right after the 2022 Festival, for last season’s Stayers Hurdle, before eventually cashing out, and for all he’s a horse that gets plenty of criticism, I really did think of him as one for The Stayers. I liked him for The Long Walk, but he runs in The Qualifier on Saturday, and I’ve got to take the 25’s now

Flight Deck qualified with a great run at Cheltenham. He caught my eye that day, but after that great finish in The Long Walk last week between Dashel Drasher and Paisley Park, his proximity to both of them was overlooked, and I just think his current 66’s is way off. Have to start chipping away at him too.

Small bet on GABBYS CROSS at 33/1 ew for me. Well in on his hurdle mark compared to his chase.

    We shall see……

Does any website keep a list of the qualified horses for this?

Or even a list of the qualifying races?

    Edit: Found it – https://support.racingadmin.co.uk/opencms/export/sites/weatherbys/racing-admin-support/bha-notices/series_qualifiers/Pertemps-Hurdle-Series.pdf

(Does not include the Irish qualifying races though).

I’ve decided to have a bit of a go at some of the handicaps before the entries come out.
At least my first selection should run here as connections like Cheltenham and he has no real alternative.

Gowel Road has been very consistent in big staying handicaps this year and is a horse I like. The Long Walk (the only time his usual pilot wasn’t on board) was a bridge too far but back in handicap company I think he’ll acquit himself well. He just squeaked qualification at Exeter but he’s likely a bit better left handed (he has some Cheltenham form) perhaps on better ground too. I expect the tongue tie he wore last time to be retained, it seemed to help his finishing effort a little.

Nigel Twiston Davies has won this race before- albeit ages ago- and the stable have a very respectable strike rate this year. I think young Willy T-D taking greater part in the training has injected some new energy into the stable and he has the potential to do very well as a trainer in future.

I don’t think Gowel Road is going to be a very cool kid choice so mightn’t shorten much, but anyway I decided to get on and bet him now. I didn’t bother with NRNB as, barring injury, he’s coming here.

Happy with my pair just now Grass, but I’d have no hesitation in having three in this.

Be a bit daft having another Antepost, but I really liked Prairie Dancer at Carlisle, and he’s a cracking price right now.

I liked him as a juvenile- I think I backed him for the Fred Winter- and was a bit sickened that I passed over him in the November handicap. Galileo and Ela Mana Mou on the dam’s side, interesting. Got form with my selection through Ramos too. I’m a can of Carlsberg to the good and I’m convinced so I’m joining you.

It’s a cracking price that Grass. I’m just about joining you, but my issue is Thanksforthehelp, who’s entered in The Qualifier on Saturday. I don’t mind having three, as it’s The Pertemps, but four might be pushing it.

I still think that Flight Deck is way overpriced. I’m hoping that he catches on, and I might be able to lay a bit back, but at the moment juggling Prairie and Thanksforthehelp

Edit, just went for it. One of my favourite races of the week, so I’ll lay stake back on day for one, maybe two of these on day

Racing Post have finally removed the non entered/ non qualified.

Congrats bobby on massively beating the price on Chantry House

These are my top 4 after video form review – For a cheltenham handicap I don’t think its that deep a race really.

Icare Allen and Cleatus Poolaw will probably be bigger on the day. The other 2 seem a decent price still although bigger on the ticker so maybe best just waiting now till next week.

Icare Allen- summer 2023 – 4th in Galway hurdle, 3rd 2 days later off 133. 3rd in qualifier off 142, chicken wings up the run in. Goes on soft yielding & good, Not run since

Monmiral- Has a nice profile though never managed to break through at the top level. 2 wins on GS and 2 on Soft. reverting back to hurdles after poor chase career. got 4th in the chepstow qualifier and cud be bang on for this off a fair mark of 139. only entered here

Anna Burnina- Cromwell trained, won scots champ hurdle over 2 miles 2022 off 130. Qualified in 4th off 135. Off 140 here. Best on good / yielding ground. 9th in county hurdle last season off 138.

Cleatus Poolaw- Ran a nice race up in the van latest, stuck at it up the hill but always held for the win – didn’t really seem to want to win, wasn’t the deepest heat. Previously 2nd to Ballyburn, Daddy Long Legs although well beat, Irish mark of 130 is fair, raised to 139 for this. Also 2nd to The jukebox man in PTP. goes on yielding, soft and heavy. Unexposed and could land in the top 3.

I think this is a very good renewal. I see White Rhino as my best of the week, but he has to get in. That’s the only negative I can see, but it might be a gig one.

It looks as if White Rhino hasn’t got in. Totally gutted. Will be even worse when the social runners drop out the back of the screen.

Already backed Gowel Road and Prairie Dancer ew, but I think the maestro can still get down and dirty laying out a JP horse for a handicap so I added Icare Allen 8s ew.
Mullins has never won the Pertemps but I imagine ticking off the festival races he hasn’t won might be on his bucket list.

Backed Cuthbert Dibble last week so happy to see the money for him this morning. Ground is in his favour and I thought he was very good value for his win last time, where he was sent for home needlessly early and was much the best horse.

Took 25/1 about Chantry House when the betting opened but he has drifted right back out to that price with the stable in such poor form.

Also backed Cleatus Poolaw and Popova. I put a free £2 Betfair bet on the latter last week when he was at 40. He is shorter now but managed to get 18/1 yesterday afternoon.

Hugely annoying that O’Neill waited on taking his two out in the process denying White Rhino a run. Hard to believe conditions were going to change very much at all, and he would have been aware of the reserves.
