Horse – Poetic Flare, must be unique what he’s achieved.
Ride – Ryan Moore on Dream of Dreams, it was amazing looking at the overhead shots how far behind he was after being first out of the stalls. One of the first to come under pressure I think plenty of jockeys wouldn’t have won on him.

You’d be hard pushed to give anything other than Dettori on Stradivarious stinker of the week. His pitiful (unpunished as usual) ‘effort’ to secure a place sealed the deal.

I love a balls-to-the-wall last to first in a big field, so I’ll go for Shane Kelly on Rohaan for ride of the week.

My ride of the week award goes to Laura Pearson’s front-running victory on Lola Showgirl.

Plus, what a great name for a filly (the horse, not the jockey).

    Best ride: Joe Fanning, Subjectivist.

Worst ride: Ryan Moore, MC Muldoon. Far worse than Dettori on Stradivarius because he should have won.

Although I agree with Yeats – he did redeem himself with a fine ride on Dream of Dreams, so I have just about forgiven him!

Real World in the Hunt Cup for me destroyed a really strong field in the manner of a group horse, there will definitely be winners of big handicaps coming out of the race in behind him. I remain a big fan of Astro King and Beat Le Bon is a long term fancy to regain his Golden Mile handicap crown at Goodwood.

    Agreed with Mike- Poetic flair.

Have to say, i was very underwhelmed with the week on the whole. Flat season has been Zzzzzz if you ask me. This is coming from someone who loves the flat normally too.

Talking without having a betting bias even though I backed it it has to be POETIC FLARE!! Is He the new IRON HORSE

Talking from my pocket I would say CREATE BELIEF who I backed strong at 14/1 the night before or JUAN ELCANO who scythed through the field to win the Wolferton having taken 20/1 purely because it had ran third in the previous years Dante :good:

But to be honest the whole thing was just fabulous !! :good: :good: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Poetic Flare and Real World were the standouts for me, and after that I’m struggling just a little to get too excited by the others.

I’m with you Jack. I’ve found the start of the season very underwhelming so far, and I can’t remember a more mundane Royal Ascot. It was definitely lacking something.
