Well done to Racing TV’s ambassador, managing to get boxed in all the way in a 6 runner race.
August 10, 2024 at 22:17 #1704429CAS – Presume you mean Classy Al which any of the Scottish circuit regulars I know will tell you is a pig of a ride, we avoid it like the plague. Needs to be held up and ‘put between horses’ and even then isn’t guaranteed to go through with his effort. Has talent but is enigmatic.
August 11, 2024 at 12:55 #1704470Lost count of the times when I’ve looked at a horse, seen the jockey (Mulrennan) and quickly put a line through it.
August 25, 2024 at 14:44 #1705832If you have time have a look at Mulrennan in the 205 Beverley on Midnight Lir and 240 on Lisio. High draws clearly disadvantaged in the former case but woeful efforts on both, how does he get away with it….
August 25, 2024 at 21:42 #1705859For such an experienced jockey he looked a bit novicey around the 2f mark alright in the first race. There should be much better quality camera footage at the start at Beverley and I’m sure other courses to facilitate better scrutiny and evaluation.
August 27, 2024 at 12:04 #1705927Interesting topic – Since this ride (was declared for a RA race on Fransciscos Piece, a few days later so had to be used), https://www.racingpost.com/results/13/chester/2024-06-14/868138, he has not ridden for Keatley and most likely wont sit on his horses again. I think he had issues with another Keatley horse the same week.
August 27, 2024 at 12:54 #1705928As mentioned in passing previously the way the finishing stretch at Beverley narrows into a funnel makes for very unsatisfactory finishes. Perhaps someone with local knowledge might know if there is any room to widen the finish so there is better possibility of fairer finishes. I think I’d take my chance at Galway before this track.
August 27, 2024 at 14:50 #1705931As this photo shows, there’s very little space between the stands side rail and the road – even the stands had to squeezed into a small area.

August 27, 2024 at 15:12 #1705933Thanks AP
On TV you get the impression there is loads of room on far side!
August 27, 2024 at 16:01 #1705936Another “great ride” on Inanna in the 14:41 over 5f at Musselburgh today. Got himself in a pocket behind the eventual 50/1 winner. When the gaps opened Inanna made some headway, but still failed by a neck or so.
August 27, 2024 at 16:19 #1705937If Mulrennan can find a way to get boxed in, he will.
No one on ITV or RTV ever seems to notice, though…

Surely not, some jockeys seem to be protected species at some stage of their career.
August 27, 2024 at 16:55 #1705939I can’t think why Racing TV might treat him favourably:
