I know its not racing but i think you would all join me in sharing heartfelt sympathy for Paul Hunter’s family following the news of his tragicn death tonight at just 27.
I bet on other sports from time to time such as snooker but it brings it all down to earth when you hear about something like this how unimportant betting is.
A brilliant exciting talent who brought the sport of snooker back up in the late 90s/2000s due to his good looks and "Beckham like" fashions and he will be sorely missed by all not least his wife and young daughter and family.
I didn’t ever meet him but feel as though i wish i had.
October 9, 2006 at 22:48 #79539Oh my God. Wow, I am shocked. One of snooker’s bright young stars, and while he may have ‘lost it’ in recent years during his recovery period, I always thought he would come back and hit the big time.
He seemed like a thoroughly decent bloke, and like you say horsestats, I would have loved to meet him.
My condolences to his family and friends.
October 9, 2006 at 22:51 #79540thanks for that jackane – quick reply
it really was a shock when i saw the breaking news across the screen on sky sports news
you have broken your own news recently i see in the rp – but that should be discussed on separte thread i appreciate.
October 9, 2006 at 23:18 #79541I added a thread about him in the Other’s forum – sad sad news though.
October 9, 2006 at 23:24 #79542It’s an absolute tradegy.
A young, decent guy like that, there’s no justifying something like this.
Really upsets me just to think about it.
R.I.P Paul, deepest condolences to his family and friends.
October 9, 2006 at 23:34 #79543Very very sad news. I saw Paul play a couple of times at the Wembley Masters when he was at his peak. I wished him well and was able to get his autograph. He came across as a lovely, down to earth young man.
I honestly can’t remember anyone over the years having anything negative to say about him, a real credit to the sport.
RIP.

Except maybe his hair
There was nothing bad said about him, because quite simply there was nothing bad to say about him. Professional, polite, and didn’t let the stardom get to his head. A huge loss for both snooker and sport.
October 9, 2006 at 23:51 #79545jackane24-this is not a thread to be grinning on-you sad creep.
R.I.P Paul
October 10, 2006 at 00:03 #79546Apologies if my post caused any upset – was meant purely as a joke, just as the public also joked about it

Look at the 2nd photo
October 10, 2006 at 07:23 #79547Superb player, especially under pressure – won all three of his Masters titles from well behind.
Never met him but was told that he never took his playboy image even remotely seriously and was just a friendly, down-to-earth bloke.
Will be genuinely missed.
Mike
October 10, 2006 at 12:37 #79548Really sad news, seemed a good guy. R.I.P.
October 10, 2006 at 12:48 #79549I was genuinely upset at this news, just as I am whenever someone so talented dies so young.<br>I am reminded of how I felt when Lynden David Hall died of leukemia at 31. It’s very sad.
RIP Paul, you inspired a lot of young players.
October 11, 2006 at 05:26 #79550Very very sad. Never mind the loss to snooker, that’s academic, but to have someone so young die with a young family like that is always tragic.
October 11, 2006 at 06:43 #79551Paul had such a great future regardless of what he did playing the sport he was so very talented at. This is a very sad loss, a real sickener.
I’d like to offer my deepest condolences to his family and friends.
